I'd say it would be a satin finish.

Neither. They're satiny or silky. At night I do like to add a touch of jewel shadow for the glimmer, and I have blended in some matte occasionally for certainly looks, but they work great for me by themselves too.

The colors I have tried have a satin finish - not matte but not metallic. Somewhere in between.

I think they are eyeshadow, but I have Finale and Lyric and plan on using them as blushes because I can't use red/pink on my eyelids - allergies! I may only try them as eyeshadow with a heavy layer of eyeshadow primer first.

These are definitely eye shadows but some of the pinker ones could double as a blush.

I assumed, because they're called pigments, that they could be used wherever you need a touch of color. I've only used them on my eyes so far, but after putting Tie Dye in my basket to round out eye color, I think I might try "Finale" for a pop of peachy-pink on both eyes & cheeks. The silky feel of the pigment seems like it would lend itself to work as blush or eyeshadow. They blend well (which would be good for blush or shadow base), but the individual colors can be used by themselves too.

The pink shades can be used as both shadows and blushes according to the Stila representative in my store yesterday. They are really pretty as blushes too and you can change the pigment to brighter or lighter based on your preference.

Question
how pigmented are these?
i know colors in the jar can be deceiving and some reviews say very pigmented and some said too subtle. i need a makeup artists opinion and maybe compare to other products to let me know how bright or subtle they actually are. i would consider illamasqua or makeup forever to be truly pigmented. but most makeup lines are more subtle and neutral, including stila. what to think?

These seem to go on very smooth but translucent. I haven't tried it with a primer, but just on bare skin, it's certainly not solid color with one swipe. I'd imagine you can build the color if you wanted to, but this seems pretty sheer to me.

I found them to be really pigmented in terms of color. Depending on how vibrant you want the shadows to be.. they are buildable. Not in your face, but the color pay off is great!

I'm not an MUA but I am very into makeup. I can tell you from swatching them that it really depends one you're choosing. I picked up Tie-Dye and found it to be really pigmented. I tried swatching the more neutral brown one and didn't find it too amazing.

These are highly pigmented but with careful application can go on light or heavy. I tested it with a swipe of my finger and it was BRIGHT. Make sure you always use primer under it. When I tested it, I didn't and it stained my eyelid for two days.

Question
Do these glow?
The girl at the Sephora counter told me that these would glow when exposed to blacklight, but I don't see anything that says that anywhere else. I'm wondering if maybe she confused it with the lipcolor?

I believe that's just the lip color. I haven't been under any black lights while wearing it or anything, but I don't think the shadows glow.

Finale is so0o much fun to work with and it's also kinda daring to have an orange eye shadow on hand rather than having just the regular run of the mill purples and blues.

I really love Finale. I wore it today as a shadow going from the darker red on the outer corner of the eye to lighter on the inside and it looks awesome, plus you can use it as a blush as well. The Stila representative was showing it to me in store. It's a really great color very vibrant but also easy to tone down with the ability to swirl the lighter colors, depending on how you want to wear it.

It depends if you are looking for more of a cool purple tone (indie) or a warm cherry coral tone (finale). I personally use finale as a blush because the warm tones work well with my light olive skin and the colors work beautifully for a blush and it lasts all day. Red tones never seem to look too great on the eye lid area; if not done right the red tone from the shadow will make the eye lid is irritated and these are highly pigmented. The purple tones in 'indie' are perfect for making brown eyes pop and this shade works better as an eye shadow.

Question
Removable? For Empty Refillable Palettes?
I don't want to risk ruining my brand new eyeshadows (which are amazing by the way) by trying to pop them out to put in the refillable eyeshadow palette. It says on Stila's website that the other eyeshadows in the compacts can be popped out. Can these?? Thanks!

Like you, I wanted to put these in my Stila M&M palettes, but these didn't seem to budge for me. I think they're glued, instead of using magnets. :-( I probably could've pried them out, but I was afraid I'd break the shadow in the pan. Otherwise, I love them.
