If what is above (or below, I don't know where my answer will end up) is correct, there little to no PHYSICAL uv sun protection for (I think it's) UVB which are the aging sun rays. Titanium Dioxide provides verrrry, verrrry little. Zinc Oxide provides the most for UVB.

No, it is not very moisturizing, it feels like a light foundation and when you layer it it feels like sunscreen, much similar to teh blue bottel one 50 spf for the face.

I would say yes but only if Your skin is on the oily side. I have a combination skin and i use it on my dior hydrator to avoid dry patches.

Absolutely. It's a nice light oil free moisturizer that goes on very well under makeup. I have combo/dry skin and it works great for me. :)

Question
Is it necessary to apply a layer of moisturizer underneath this Shiseido UV protector?
I've been told to always layer moisturizer underneath everything, especially sunscreen as if its the vital part of my make up ritual. Is it completely necessary for this product? Will it cause future malfunction to my skin if I don't? Doesn't it have a moisturizing property that takes care of the skin already?

Sincerely,
Beauty Noob

Yes, add moisturizer under this and have the tinted sunscreen be the top layer. In summer you might be able to wear it alone, but I have dry skin and wouldn't recommend attempting it without moisturizer underneath. Remember it's a tinted sunscreen, not a tinted moisturizer.

Yes, you must. It is not a moisturizer but it won't dry you out like some sunscreen.

answer 3
You could probably just use this if you find that it's moisturizing enough. The idea is to make sure your skin is hydrated enough and doesn't feel dry or tight. Many moisturizers provide benefits to your skin that something which is just a sunscreen will not; like anti-aging, promoting cell turnover, plumping wrinkles, lightening dark spots, etc. But if your skin is happy and well hydrated with only this product, then of course you can just use that.

Question
Because I am medium yellow undertoned Asian, I want to know the undertone of this BB: is it pink or yellow undertone?
I find this product quite interesting but because I cannot find much review and swatches of it, I wonder if it's suitable to my skin tone which is medium yellow undertone.

I'm Asian as well and I'm very fair. I wear shade 1, but all the shades in the range are yellow-based and very forgiving. It's very blenable and works great as a sun protectant AND as a tinted product.

Without checking the label (you can find a full ingredient list online, either at Sephora or other retail site) I would say no. Every product with silicones has a certain silky or greasy feel and this has none of that. Sorry for the non-precise answer, but that's the anecdotal version!

Yes it does. I am very sensitive to silicones and usually check cosdna.com for ingredient lists. for this product cosdna lists dimethicone and polysilicone as ingredients.

Question
Appy over or under makeup/other skin products?
I use an all physical sunscreen, which I have learned to apply on top of makeup. I am confused on the debate about what can cause chemical sunscreens to degrade, and have read different opinions on when to apply. Since this is both chemical & physical sunscreen, can I still apply as a final step, over moisturizers/anti-aging products? Thank you !

I think the basic rule of thumb tends to be that you should apply skin products in the order of thickness. For example, watery or liquid moisturizers would be applied first, then serums, then creamy moisturizers. I would put this product on after moisturizers and before make-up. Your sunscreen should be applied based on its consistency, after the moisturizers. So if it's thicker than the Shiseido, apply it after, otherwise, apply it before.

It runs darker. I am NC15 and the light was too dark so I'd say 1 shade darker than light... so medium for you would be perfect.

Question
Does it protect against UVB ray as well?
I don't see any PA+ value on the tube. Does it protect against UVB as well as UVA? For the Shiseido blue bottled ones, it is clearly stated that will protect against UVA/UVB.

It does say broad spectrum which means it has both UVA and UVB coverage. I don't know what the PA rating is on it (their similar product used to have PA +++) but I noticed all of them stopped. This is not a rating that is supported in countries outside of Japan and the FDA made no statement about it in their last update. They did clarify that the bigger the SPF the more your overall protection so long as it says board spectrum or UVA/UVB.

I also have the blue bottle... but on this one it writes: "Broad Spectrum UV protection" not UVA/UVB
I am guessing UV rays mean both UVA and UVB
It does say it is meant for the city.

Question
Before or after primer?
Hi there,
I'm keen to buy this product but not sure how to apply. I usually wear BB cream which I'm going to change to this one since BB seems to thick for my skin and I don't need much coverage. So, when it comes to tint moisturizer, I'm not sure that should I apply this in between which step. My routine is ; water lotion - serum - moisturizer (day) - primer - BB cream - powder/make up.
Thanks in advance

I use this TM instead of BB cream and have always applied TM after putting on the primer (before pressed powder).

My daily routine: clean - serum - moisturize - tinted sunscreen - concealer to any spots that need it. I only use primer when wearing foundation as I feel this lasts and glides easily over a good moisturizer (I prefer Algenist Regenerative Anti-Aging Lotion and DDF Ultra-lite oil-free moisturizing dew).
