drybar Buttercup Blow Dryer

What it is:A precision blow drying tool designed for use by stylists at Drybar shops across the US to deliver perfect blowouts to thousands of clients every day—now available to Sephora customers to create their own professional blowouts at home. What it does:The Buttercup Blow Dryer features an ultra-powerful motor to get the job done fast and efficiently. Buttercup was designed for use by stylists at Drybar shops across the US to deliver perfect, long-lasting blow-outs to thousands of clients every day. NanoIonic™ Technology helps to break up water quickly for reduced dry-time. Nano beads within the dryer emit powerful negative ions that seal and smooth the hair cuticle, helping to reduce frizz, increase shine, and trap moisture inside for more healthy-looking, hydrated hair. What else you need to know:Buttercup features three temperatures and two speed settings. It has a self-locking cool shot button, removable air filter, nine foot long cord with a hang loop, and 1875 watt motor. All this and it only weighs one pound, one ounce. Buttercup operates at 110/120 volts. Outside of the US, it can be used with a step-down converter and the appropriate plug adapter. Buttercup is also compatible with many diffusers (available for individual purchase) in the market place. Included with Buttercup are two concentrator nozzles which allow for more concentrated airflow: -Wider nozzle: focuses on a greater area to help hair dry faster. Great for longer or thicker hair. -Narrow nozzle: forces more air through a smaller area for extra intensity and precision styling. Great for adding sleek polish to specific areas, including bangs/fringe.

I asked this question--I bought the dryer, and it is fairly light. My arm doesn't get tired while drying my medium-length hair, and my wrist doesn't hurt. It is easy to use, and yes,the cool shot button works well. It seems to cut the heat off.

It has a locking cool shot button so that you don't have to continuously hold it down.

It does have a cool shot button that actually clicks on & off, so you don't have to hold the button down. It weighs the same as most professional blow dryers.

No. It comes with a US plug but I believe it is dual voltage. Best dryer I've ever used.

There are two nozzles that come with Buttercup. The wider nozzle is for styling and drying and allows for better curl definition. The narrow nozzle is for speed drying for the fastest drying possible.

One, plus a spare. The nozzle will last longer than the dryer, the way these are built. Returned mine and bought a T3. Made much better & works better, too.

They are air diffusers to direct air onto a smaller space. Eg-round brush.

Question
Is it worth the money?
I have never bought a blow dryer before and I really want to get one, but I was wondering is this worth buying for so much money, or will the drugstore blow dryer be just as effective? I just want something GOOD!!

I think that always depends on your individual hair and how fussy you are, combined with how good you are at doing a great blow dry. For someone fussy and good at a great blow dry, it's definitely worth the money. I've never bought drug store before but when I've used cheaper versions they don't usually have the heat or power that a more expensive dryer does. You can always return it if you don't like it....that's the best part!! It's worry free shopping!

It made my hair puffy and frizzy. I have long hair - it's fine but I have a ton and its fairly healthy. I found another one at this price point that does what it promises. I reviewed it. Gave it 5 stars

Question
Heating Element
I've used my blow dryer twice and I cannot get a heat setting on any of the three temp settings. Am I missing something? All the temperatures feel the same and they are all cold.

The locking cool shot is probably pushed down. Once you release it, the dryer will work normally.

Question
Temperature- seems cold
Just received this dryer and have used twice. I've noticed that temperature setting one is same as cold button- I don't really feel any heat with this setting. Is it supposed to be like this or do I have a defective dryer?

This sounds silly, but have you tried pressing the cool shot button again? It locks on that setting until you turn it off, unlike some other dryers I've used. It tricked me at first, but it's useful once you get used to it.

Is this quieter or louder than the T3 Featherweight?
I love how quiet and lightweight my T3 is, but it takes a long time to dry.

A little bit louder. I have long, curly hair and I can dry it in about 20 minutes, tops. It's much much faster than the T3, which gave out on me after 4 months (and that was my 3rd one).

I did not hear a big difference between this and the T3. However, I have long, thick, wavy hair and the drybar buttercup went back because it took three times as long to dry my hair.

It is similar in price to high end dryers. My hair has never looked better. It is very well made and I think the cord is larger so it won't short out.

I don't think it is. So far, my $40 drugstore blowdryer is more effective, blows hotter and harder and hasn't given out in over 3 years. And I hate saying that because Drybar is one of my favorite brands.
