Tria Acne Clearing Blue Light

What it is:A revolutionary hand-held acne device that brings the effective, therapeutic power of blue light acne treatment used by dermatologists into your own home. What it does:Tria's patented Blue Light penetrates deep within the skin to eliminate acne-causing bacteria at the source. With more than eight times the bacteria-destroying light energy than other devices, Tria delivers an effective dose in the shortest time to clear breakouts fast. Unlike most cleansers and lotions that use benzoyl peroxide to fight breakouts, Tria is gentle enough to use every day without harsh side effects such as redness or irritation. Now you can get the most effective and safest dermatologist-preferred treatment for clearing acne breakouts quickly at home. What else you need to know:Acne Clearing Blue Light is FDA cleared for home-use and treats mild to moderate inflammatory acne. The non-UV blue light allows daily, gentle acne treatments without irritation or side effects, the skin contact sensor turns Tria Blue Light on automatically when the tip touches the skin, and patented technology prevents damage to eyes when used as directed. The large treatment tip ensures thorough coverage of skin for optimal results while the sleek hand-held design and contoured handle makes treatments easy. A digital user-interface window easily guides you through treatments and helps troubleshoot errors. Tria's patented Blue Light 2-Month Cartridge supplies 60 days of treatment. Research results: In a self-assessment 2-week study: - 70% affected areas cleared in just 2 weeks - 93% of participants reported fewer and milder breakouts after 2 weeks - 77% of participants reported greater improvement with Tria Blue Light versus their prior skincare regimen

I noticed a typo in my previous answer which I feel I need to correct. I mentioned you needed to purchase a new refill cartridge approximately once a month if used regularly and correctly. I apologize for the typo but it's actually bimonthly that it will need replaced with proper use. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

One cartridge comes with your original starter package. It is easily inserted into the bottom of the device similar to a memory card on a camera. If used as directed you will need to replace the cartridge approx once each month. You can purchase these on either Sephora or the Tria website itself. On the Tria website they offer package deals as well as automatic shipping. Both websites charge approximately the same amount for these refill cartridges unless you opt for one of the special deals on the Tria site which you can sometimes save a little by doing so. All in all I've had really great results using this device. Just remember nothing happens overnight, you must follow the directions and use the device regularly and faithfully. Sticking with the program you will begin to see the improvements . Hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck.

No you can't buy the device only. There's a little slot on the bottom of the device where you put in a cartridge and it's meant to last 2 months! Then every 2 months, you have to buy a new cartridge, but my acne went away just after 2 months of using Tria, so I didn't need to buy a cartridge after that! I bought another one just last week just in case I ever needed to use it again though. Hope that answers your question!

Question
How does this compare to the Tanda Clear?
I've been using the Tanda Clear with great results, and I see it's no longer offered on Sephora's site, so if this one works just as well, I might try this one once my Tanda dies. Any reviews would be appreciated!

I also used the Tanda before I bought this and I after using this now for the last two years I can honestly say I prefer this over the Tanda, it's also much easier to use and definitely a lot faster than the Tanda especially if your doing your entire face. I still will use my Tanda but now only for the red light.

Question
Will this help with whiteheads/clogged pores on chin area?
I read that it DOES help with blackheads and whiteheads, but wondering about more specifics? I do not have cystic acne. I might get a really bad cystic pimple every 4-6 months? But I DO struggle with chronic "clogged pores" AKA whiteheads, on my chin area. I assume they are from bacteria from my phone, touching my face, etc…and I have also made sure my moisturizers are not causing them. It I could get rid of THESE, my skin would be virtually flawless (acne wise….I'm STILL aging!) Anyway, if anyone has purchased this simply for clogged pores/whiteheads, mainly in the chin area, I'd love to know your thoughts! Thanks.

I have this problem too. It does say on the pamphlet that it doesn't help with blackheads. Just Moderate Acne. You might want to see the you tube review. There are only about three reviews out there.

Yes, the device will NOT work without the cartridge. The started pack you get with your original purchase will come with one cartridge which will last you two months if used as instructed. Replacement cartridges can be purchased from either Sephora or the Tria website itself.
Think of the cartridge like a memory card for your camera or even as a battery for a flashlight. The cartridge is the device that clicks into the bottom of the Tria Blue Light and provides the 60 days worth of treatment. It will count down as you use it until eventually running out, in which case a new cartridge must be inserted in place of the old one. The count down feature ensures you will not be caught by surprise without any power to work your device. You can clearly see how much time you have left letting you know when it's getting close to needing to purchase a replacement cartridge. Or you can sign up for automatic refills to be sent without you needing to do anything, this option is available on the Tria website. This is an option you can choose or decline whichever you prefer.
In all honesty I was not a fan either of having to constantly be required to purchase these every two months in order for the Tria Blue Light to work, but after some research have discovered almost all products similar to this have at least one replacement part which will need to be repurchased at some point for various reasons. I've found the Tria Blue Light replacement cartridge to be one of the most reasonably priced in this genre for the number of uses it provides. Not to mention the ease of use and how quickly the device treats the entire area which is being treated. I definitly get more for my money with this device and have personally found the results are well worth it for me. I've noticed so many people want a quick fix with minimal commitment and for the least amount of money possible, but I think most of us can agree there is no such thing like that available, I'd be just as thrilled as anyone else if there was but after trying more products than I'd care to admit I can say with confidence a device like that sadly does not exist. However if you are dedicated and willing to invest the time required to regularly follow the treatment plan and not give up when you don't have magical results right away, I have confidence that there will come a day (it's different for each of us) when you look in the mirror and are happy with the reflection staring back at you. Hang in there! It will get better! Hope this helps answer your question.

I'd check with Sephora specifically on this question. I'm not sure if they honor the Tria return policy or if it would fall under the Sephora policy being it was purchased at Sephora. Best just to go directly to the source to ensure you get the correct answer.
