Not sure where it's made but I have it and absolutely love it. No it doesn't slide to cover the bristles, it stays open but I just store mine sitting upright.

Question
wet application?
I just started using the mufe pro finish powder.I have been dreaming about this brush since I saw it in the store and now am here ordering it. I have not tried using the powder with the wet method yet. I am planning to just to see how it goes. I noticed the description for this brush says it can be use for wet applications. Has anyone tried this? If so what's the best way ? Wet the brush not the makeup in the pan itself I am assuming? Kinda scares me to goop up.such a pricey brush. Hoping I washes up nicely?

Yes, works for both wet & dry. If you want a sheer application of your wet foundation then spray the brush with water (brush should be damp, not soaked) then use brush to dab foundation into skin. If you want more coverage then don't wet brush. I place some spots of foundation around my face then use brush.
I go straight into powder after by rolling the brush on the product and then dabbing into my skin.
You can continue with bronzer & highlighter in the same fashion as the powder.
Then clean with a brush cleaner & brush is as good as new.

Even though MUFE says this brush can be used with all types of foundation, I did not like it with liquids. I use it for powder foundations because it is smoother than with liquids. I found with liquid foundation it skipped a lot and was streaky. Hope this helps

Question
How does this compare with the kabuki in the complexion starter set?
My favorite foundation brush is MFU in the complexion starter kit here for $79. I've had it for 18 months and it's still going strong. The design appears different, and would like to know how the two compare, besides the color? Thanks

Since it is a tapered brush you can really get into the hard to apply areas such as corners of the nose etc. The one is the set is great for applying just as a finishing powder! <3

It really depends how much coverage you're looking for. I usually try not to put the product on my hands because i don't want any oils on the back of my hand to effect the makeup. I prefer dotting it on my skin first and blending it out (dot on the forehead, both cheeks and chin). You can build the foundation up from this point. If you have to use the back of your hand I would invest in a stainless steel palette.
