Question

No. It is quite thick. Someone described it negatively as like Elmer's Glue. That's a fair assessment, but I like the texture.

answer 2
It's the same consistency as the original Hope in a Jar. And it's not heavier. Actually when I had the original the oil separated from the cream. This one does not do that.

Heavier and thicker, but you put it on before bed so its not really an issue

This is a light cream and you do not have to use a lot of it. Blends in the skin well and leaves your skin soft and firm feeling. I love i!

It is heavier, but I found the texture of the original to be difficult to work with. This one is heavier, but not too heavy. I have oily skin that has to put up with Wisconsin's long, harsh winters, and the texture of this cream is perfect.

It is a little thicker than the day cream version. When I wash my face in the morning, I can feel it coming off, if that helps quantify the thickness. It doesn't feel heavy on, but definitely not light & fluffy.

I'd say it's lighter even. The regular Hope In A Jar felt too greasy for me (I even have dry skin) so I had to use the oil free. However, I JUST bought the Hope In A Jar Night. LOVE IT.

This product does not have a smell. The consistency is the same. Though when I used the Hope In a Jar (original), the oil separated from the cream. This one does not do that.

I had the same concerns- I hated the smell of the original, I found the texture difficult to work with, and it always made my eyes water. The new version takes care of all that. The scent is subtle, and it doesn't bother my sensitive eyes. It's also creamier, which I find easier to work with.

I have oily skin and my skin has actually been clearer since I started using this. Granted, I live in Wisconsin and it's still winter, so time will tell what happens when the temperatures rise above freezing.

answer 3
Absolutely! I have combination skin and if I don't use the right moisturizer my face tries to overcompensate by producing more oil (hence more breakouts). The lotion actually balances out your skin and repairs it over night to give you a fully moisturized face so that your skin doesn't have to produce more oil. I've been using it for 3 weeks and love it :) Start off slow, though. It does have glycolic acid in it, so you may be a bit sensitive. Mix it with your normal moisturizer and use it every other night when starting off. I built up a tolerance within a few days. Good luck!

I'm not sure what it means. But this product is thick. You only apply a little and don't rub it too hard.
It absorbs quickly and works like magic!

I have with good results, but I try to give some time between the two to allow the Help Me to absorb as I've heard from friends that retinoids and AHAs sometimes don't interact well. A ten minute break between the two seems to work for me.

Question
What percentage of glycolic acid?
I like to use retinol based products and need to know if it will be too much. Currently I am trying the Vivite skin care line which used 20% glycolic acid and while my face looks great, my throat got irritated. (So did a gf of mine until she got used to it). Now I am not sensitive; I get peels on a regular basis, but the Vivite line is strong. It would be great if it won't burn my skin off...So back to Philosophy..I want moisture to play nice with my other products.

I'm not quite sure what the % is but I can promise it's no where near 20%. If I remember correctly I believe it was something like .5%-2% at the most. I know it was a very small amount because I have sensitive skin and I was concerned when buying it. I've been using the product for 3 weeks and have built up a tolerance to it. The first few days left me a bit flaky, but I just mixed it with some of my normal lotion and was good to go. Don't overuse and try using it every other night until your tolerance is built up. I'm using it every night now by itself and my skin looks amazing. Good luck!

I am using this Philosophy product. It does not state on the jar that this product is good for dark spots and skin scars. I suggest you type those issues in the Sephora search bar, (one at a time) to find product (s) that can address those issues for you. I have seen products that address "age spots" but don't know which ones might help soften scars. Good luck!
