The Glinda Palette

The Glinda Palette

What it is: One of two gorgeous limited-edition palettes inspired by the Disney movie "Oz the Great and Powerful." What it does: Inspired by the Disney film’s theme of good witch vs. bad witch (and the good witch/bad witch dichotomy in all of us), Urban Decay created two collectible palettes loaded with beautiful, never-before-seen shades. Recreate Glinda’s ethereal, spellbinding look with eight all new and exclusive eye shadows in six pans (this set includes two duo-shades that are split in half, with a different color on each side of the pan). Every shade features Urban Decay’s Pigment Infusion System™, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives each shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power, and blendability. This set contains: - 6 x 0.05 oz Eyeshadow in Tornado (vibrant deep purple shimmer), Aura (iridescent white with blue shift and iridescent white with red shift), Magic (pinkish purple with golden shimmer), Illusion (pale peach satin), Oz (gold with gold glitter and silver with silver glitter), South (warm pale gray shimmer with silver micro-glitter) - 0.03 oz 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Rockstar (deep eggplant) - 0.1 oz Super-Saturated High Gloss Color in Glinda (light sheer nude) - A card with step-by-step instructions on how to get Glinda's look from the film What else you need to know: The Glinda Palette incorporates Urban Decay’s Build Your Own Palette format for total versatility. When you finish the original shades (or whenever you get the urge to experiment), just pop them out and pop your favorite UD shadows into the cool collectible tin. It features a dreamy, celestial design awash in a sheer backdrop of pink, gold, and peach, with Urban Decay and the name of the film in foil lettering.

yes you can pop-out the colors and put them any of the single UD compacts that you already own. I wish they sold the empty single compacts because then you wouldn't have to exchange colors; instead you could just bring everything for traveling!

no it is not the same as naked, and is more red and slightly darker.

It's the same pencil it was just renamed for the palette. I work at a Sephora and have a print out from Urban Decay stating that both Glinda and Theodora lip colors are actually Naked and F Bomb but just renamed for the palettes.

No. Glinda is a lovely pink-nude. It's not as beige as naked. It's similar. For me the slight difference is a huge deal. Glinda is the perfect mixture of pink-nude and shine. Love it.

Sorry to contradict the three other answers, but yes, the Glinda Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color is the same as the Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in the color Naked. Just renamed.

Same with the Theodora palette: it is the same color as F-Bomb.

I have the lip gloss in the naked palette 2 and I would agree that the pencil is definitely another version of the gloss but with a little more control over how much goes on.

I use it on the inner corner of my upper lid, and use the purple in the crease, all on top the shimmery white shade, and it works as a highlighter to bring the blue out in my eyes

answer 2
The color magic is a bit to dark to be used as a highlight. I would recommend either using it on the lid, or maybe even as a soft inner corner highlight. If you use the color with a very light hand it could possibly be used as a brow bone highlight. I hope you found this helpful.

I'm using it along the lower lash line, or on the inner 1/3 of my upper eyelid. Today I'm using it on the inner 1/3 of my lids with the gold on the center 1/3, & south on the outer 1/3 & the crease. Then I used Tornado to deepen the crease. Looks amazing!

I would wear it on my lid or in my inner corner. I think on the card that comes with the palette, it's along the lower lashline. It's all preference!

It is about 3x4. A little big for a purse, and it does not close securely enough to carry around all day. The eyeliner fits inside, the lip color is external. I put it all back in its box for travel. Did not need to pack any other eye makeup other then mascara. It is very versatile.

Question
"south" vs "mushroom" - comparison?
Those who own the "Mushroom" eyeshadow and who also have this palette, can you tell me how "South" from the palette compares to "Mushroom"?

They are both described as "warm, pale gray". On my monitor, "South" looks lighter and warmer than Mushroom (which is a plus for me), but it also has micro-glitter, which is usually a deal-breaker.

Can anyone give insight on how these compare?

(I would probably use UD eyeshadows exclusively if they didn't ruin so many beautiful shades by adding micro-glitter! )

answer 3
South is a lighter color taupe with more microglitters, it has a gold undertone. Mushroom is a bit darker with brown/reddish/coppery undertones.

In the picture, the one on the left is South and the one on the right is Mushroom.

I agree with the above comparison. I think South is a lovely color, & while it does have some teeny glitter, I haven't had any issues with fallout.

answer 5
South has a bit more brown in it's coloring than mushroom does. I think South is Pistol with silver micro glitter. I totally agree with you about the glitter. They have quite a few gorgeous colors that are completely ruined by chunky mess of glitter that they throw in there.

When you pop the pans out, it will say the color on the bootom of the pan. It is in the same place as the regular UD eyeshadow singles. I was wondering this too, until I was playing around with it one day and figured out how to pop them out.

According to Temptalia (who reviewed both Glinda and Theodora), this is the same Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color as the regular Naked. They just renamed this lip color (like they did with the eyeshadows in the Alice in Wonderland palette). Also, F-Bomb is the actual lip color in the Theodora palette.

Is this a WET/DRY palette
I love the purple but afraid to purchase because I have trouble with dry eye shadows showing pigmentation on my skin. Can any of these colors be used wet, especially the Tornado (deep purple)?
