I use this after my moisturizer, because it says "After your skincare regimen, smooth generously and evenly over entire face."

Question
Nightly Use?
In our New England weather, I need a bit more oomph at night to help. Can this be used every night or is this a three night a week mask? I'm noticing that even after I wash my face with my cleanser (Murad, 0.5% salicylic acid = very gentle), I'm still wicked flaky.

You can apply it every night. Sometimes when I know I'm not going to wear makeup for that day (running errands etc) i wear it alone!

Salicylic acid is famous for drying skin out. If you don't have serious acne issues, I would stop that ASAP. I have dry, sensitive, acne prone skin myself and I won't touch SA with a 10 foot pole! I wash, tone & moisturize and I find that is typically enough to keep my acne under fair control. I use either the moisture surge mask or a skin serum (First Aid Beauty) each night and I feel it works well. I live in Michigan and our winters are often brutal and long. Our furnaces run a decent 5-6 months out of the year, churning out dry air into the atmosphere. In summary, yes, I do think you can use the MS mask nightly if you need to. Good luck!

I use it everyday, but I guess that this is a personal matter since everyone skin is different. I think that your question will answer by itself once you start using the cream; you will know if you need it everyday or less often.

Question
Breakouts
I purchsed this product and used it only once; it caused me to breakout.

Should I return this product? I have been looking for skin care products to help my skin be moisurized, and everything has caused my otherwise good skin, to breakout.
Thanks!

I definitely think you should return any product that breaks you out. I also struggle with balancing skin care with acne break outs. I use Cerave moisturizers - both a.m. (which has SPF) and p.m. (for night). They are very gentle and can be used on sensitive skin, and most importantly - never caused me to break out!

It is very possible the mask is too hydrating and rich for your skin type so you may want to discontinue use and try a hydrating mist, toner or peel off mask instead. You are more than welcome to return the item back to your local store.

Question
How is this different from Moisture Surge Intense?
I have both the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief and Moisture Surge Intense. The Moisture Surge Intense is definitely much more thick and heavy in consistency, but it's perfect for the winter when the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief isn't hydrating enough. So how does this overnight mask compare?

I came from harsh winters in Salt Lake City to the humidity of Charlotte, NC. I think you answered your own question when saying the Intense is probably better suited for the harsh winter months while this mask is more suited for the Spring/Summer nightly use. I will switch to the more intense and richer in the Fall/Winter months.

I don't find this mask to be as hydrating as any of the moisture surge products. I prefer the moisture surge products to this mask. For me, the moisture surge products don't leave a residue and they seem to absorb more.

Question
Morning, too?
I plan to use this at night to help with my dry skin which is a result of my Retina-A (0.025%) routine. What I am curious about is if this would be a good product for morning use as well. I currently use the Proactive Green Tea Moisturizer after my Retina-A at night and I will also moisturize in the morning but I am looking for something that will help even out my skin to make makeup application smoother, instead of looking scaly and cakey throughout the day. Should this mask only be used at night as directed or would I be able to add it to my morning routine as well?

I would only use this at night - as it doesn't absorb to hold makeup as well as another day time moisturizer may. I would imagine if you wore this unde rmakeup the slightest rub on your skin (no matter how pro at applying foundation you are) would cause the make up to come off.

Personally, this would be much too rich to be used during the day. I like to use the Origins Vitazing moisturizer during the day. It's got SPF, a hint of color that adjusts to my skin tone to even my skin out, and provides a perfect hydrated canvas for all day.

Question
After using this at night, do you wash your face and moisturize when you wake up in the morning?
I wasn't sure if washing your face upon waking up would take away any of the added moisture

yes, at that point your skin has absorbed as much as it is going to. Wash your face and put on your daytime moisturizer with SPF.

I think it's best to wash your face in the morning after using this. It can leave a residue that can be hard to work with if you're going to put on makeup. I like a fresh face so after I wash my face I'll usually spritz my face with a rose and aloe spray and then a moisturizer then primer.
