Questions & Answers for Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen

Question
Fair or Light?
I wear Fairly Light in B.E., I seem to be inbetween Fair & Light in the Amazion Clay Foundation. So, this is why I need to know if this runs dark, light, or true to Tarte Colors. Any advice appriciated!

I think the tint runs dark. I bought Light, exchanged it for Fair. Store lighting vs. natural sunlight makes a big difference. I would suggest getting a sample of two shades so that you can compare them in natural light.

I used to use Fair in BE which is one shade lighter than Fairly Light and when I wore Tarte BB in Fair today, even though it looked ok I felt like I would look better in Light or in mixture of Fair and Light. So you should definitely go for Light. Also, BE's fairly Light is on the yellowish side (even though they say it is neutral) whereas Fair in this BB is pink. I hope this helps

you should probably go for the light shade, it fits a larger variety of skin tones. it is also a bit more yellow tinted than the fair. i use the fair and its perfect for me, but i usually have trouble finding shades that are white enough.

I have dry skin and this tends to dry me out a bit. Just a bit. So I use a touch of argon oil under this bb cream and it works great for me. So I would think that this wouldn't be oily on oily skin.

answer 3
I always have the problem of an oily T-zone halfway through the day. I just got a sample of this last week and I went to the store and bought a bottle because you can use the smallest amount and get a lot of coverage. I can definitely say that I do not have any more oiliness on my forehead halfway through the day when I use this. Maybe even less than I did with my other foundation, actually. Because of my oily skin I only use a moisturizer at night and I don't put it on in the morning before my makeup. This doesn't dry me out at all. I never have dry skin patches anywhere on my face... but maybe if you do you would just want to put on moisturizer on those spots if it becomes an issue. I'd recommend trying this! Like I said... a little goes along way but it's great coverage.

It works really well for my combo skin type. I have a problem with UV lotion breaking me out and too much shine on my nose and forehead, and so far this controls oil well and my skin is not broken out. I still use an oil free moisturizer under the BB cream, and a hydrating moisturizer at night.

I have very oily skin and I love this product. Although it may not be the best for this type of skin (since it does not control oil), I use a mattifying powder over it and that gets the job done. No matter what product I use (and I have used just about all the oil control products out there) I will always have to blot during the day. I still use this because the coverage it provides. Depends on what is more important for you. Hope this helps...

Question
How to conserve product?
I just purchased this product and am wondering how best to use it in order to make it last as long as possible. Many BB creams I have bought are in larger containers (and not as expensive) so I don't worry as much about using them up, however, since I am traveling soon it would be nice to know I if I will be covered for my entire trip, or if I will have to buy another bottle. Other BB creams say to put on about a pea-size amount, but I have a feeling that using a similar form of measurement with this bottle might give it a life of about 2 months max.

I've been using mine FOREVER (read: at least 5 times a week for the past 6 months) and I use the suggested pea sized amount. I took 10 peas worth on my 10 day France trip with me and somehow came home with 1/3 of it still unused. Same goes for the matching concealer in the tube: it just keeps on giving!

answer 5
As far as your trip goes, I think it depends upon what you use with the BB cream. If you use it more as a tinted primer, and then put a foundation or something on top, I think you could use as little as possible to just cover your face (or maybe even just the areas you really want the foundation to stay put and look nice) ... otherwise, if you're like me, and pretty much use this AS your foundation in the summer months, I find a small pea size is what covers my face, end of story. Its not quite like a tinted moisturizer, where you could make do with mixing a nice lotion with it or making your own foundation+lotion combo, since this BB cream has such a primer feel to it.

If you're worried about the amount of product, that's definitely not a problem. I thought it looked pretty small too, but I've been using a pretty good sized dollop (like nickel-sized) every day for the past six months, and I still have a decent amount left. Maybe enough for another two or three months of use. And that includes the amount lost when it started oozing out of the tube like crazy due to pressure and high altitude after I took it with me on a flight. It didn't explode or anything, but just be careful opening it after flying!

Question
Product application - how to avoid clumping
I love the feel and look of the Tarte BB cream product but I can't figure out how to apply it without creating little balls/clumps all over my face. Any suggestions on how to apply the product to avoid looking like I have little balls of lint all over my face?

My application method:
- clean face and towel dry it
- on occasion, I use toner (this should even out my pH, right?)
- apply sunscreen and wait a few minutes for this to soak in (I need a stronger suncreen than SPF 30 due to Retin-A use and sunlight exposure)
- apply BB cream with fingertips

I have had this issue before with other face primers. The manual step of removing the little clumps/balls o' lint is driving me batty. Experienced make-up users, please clue me in!

I'm wondering if it's your brand of sunscreen or sunscreen that is causing it? I have used this for quite a while now and have only had a problem with clumping when I used too heavy of a moisturizer on my skin before putting it on. What if you mixed a small bit of your sunscreen with the BB cream in your palm before applying and then used a foundation brush to apply? Hope this helps.

I'm guessing it is the suncreen that you're using prior to this product that's causing it to clump/roll up. You're either going to have to experiment with other sunscreens, or try other products to get the right combo.

Personally, I like this BB cream, with a powder sunscreen (physicians formula works great) over top. I then reapply the powder constantly over the top throughout the day.

Sounds to me like your issues might be with your towel...if you're effectively cleaning your face, then your sunscreen/BB cream should sink into your pores. I've never heard of this problem/experience this. Maybe try going into the store.

Apply a regular moisturizer with spf first. When your face is TOTALLY dry, apply this BB cream (it goes on smooth/dry and has a powdery finish so you don't want to put it on a "moist" face, lol :-) But, honestly unless you have pretty dry skin like me, the BB cream alone could provide nice moisture.

Honestly the bb cream has a great sunscreen in it, I rode on my Harley all day in the sun with this product plus a bronzer without SPF on and my face didn't burn at all but my shoulders did when I forgot to reapply my sunscreen. I have also went out on the lake with this on for half a day and still didn't burn my face at all but I didn't get my face constantly wet just floated around. Also this product gave me enough moisturizer but if you want more I would apply that first then the BB then if you want more coverage then apply it but if you only want a light natural coverage this is fine by itself or with a light powder foundation over it, that all I apply with it. I hope I helped you out a little.
