Questions & Answers for Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen

Question
Fair or Light?
I wear Fairly Light in B.E., I seem to be inbetween Fair & Light in the Amazion Clay Foundation. So, this is why I need to know if this runs dark, light, or true to Tarte Colors. Any advice appriciated!

I used to use Fair in BE which is one shade lighter than Fairly Light and when I wore Tarte BB in Fair today, even though it looked ok I felt like I would look better in Light or in mixture of Fair and Light. So you should definitely go for Light. Also, BE's fairly Light is on the yellowish side (even though they say it is neutral) whereas Fair in this BB is pink. I hope this helps

you should probably go for the light shade, it fits a larger variety of skin tones. it is also a bit more yellow tinted than the fair. i use the fair and its perfect for me, but i usually have trouble finding shades that are white enough.

Yes you can. It gives sheer but buildable coverage. I use a light dusting of a setting powder and it is all I need. My skin is a bit uneven with light to moderate acne.

I used a powder foundation only before using this BB cream. With this BB cream, I don't need a foundation. I use the powder foundation a little over it because I have some left. But it really only needs a dusting of powder to take away some shine, not to provide more coverage. I guess it depends on how much coverage you need.

I use Tarte mineral powder foundation and setting powder over the BB cream to good success. I use the BB cream after moisturizing with an oil-free lotion, and so far the combo works well and is long-lasting.

Depends on the type of coverage you want. The BB cream is like a primer so you do have the option to wear it under a powder foundation.

Question
Shimmery?
I saw "diamond powder" in the ingredients list, and it makes me worry that there's going to be shimmer in this product. The tarte tinted moisturizer definitely had way too much shimmer for my taste, so I'm wondering if this is similar.

Question
Does it make you breakout?
I have combination skin and I get occasional adult acne. I've used BB creams, but they tend to always break me out. I am still on a search of finding one that doesn't break me out. So, does this clog your pores and make you breakout?

I have the same issue as you, and I've been using this product for 2 weeks now, no regrets. It is AMAZING. It covers well, and feels velvety and smooth. I don't even touch up during the day. It's on the pricier side, but for me, very much with the money. It hasn't made me break out at all...I should say it has actually made my skin breakout less. Hope this helps!

Question
Dry skin worse with this?
I typically have normal skin but it gets a bit dry in the winter. I recently started using 3 new products--this BB, the Tarte Maracuja oil in evening, and the NUDE treatment oil in morning. After a week, my face is so dry that I have very rough spots on my cheeks, chin, and forehead. I can't see how the oils would dry my skin, so I'm thinking it has to be this (which sucks, because otherwise it's awesome). Anyone having a similar problem? I apply a serum, NUDE oil, plus moisturizer before I put this on.

i did have a similar problem with the smashbox bb cream and i looked into it and i guess you could be applying to much in certain areas and the sunscreen actually can make your skin appear dryer . try using a little bit less in the dry areas if you can ? or if your moisturizer already has a sunscreen it could just be way to much . i hope this helps you

Just wanted to clarify that after a few tests with eliminating/adding products, I've concluded that this did not cause my severe dry skin. I believe that was from using Marajuca oil alone without an additional moisturizer at night. If I double-up on super intense moisturizer and use this, it doesn't dry out my face. However, it also doesn't help it, and I have to apply additional moisturizer later in the day. Unfortunately, I'll have to return it (I love it otherwise) but may try it again in summer. Thanks for the help!

I actually tried the Marajuca Oil in the trial set they have and didn't like it at all. Strange, but I also felt that it dried my skin out...I was going to use it at night, like it suggested. I will return it. Try Josie Maran's argan oil moisterizer. I love this! People say it smells like cherry cough syrup. So? I actually like it! I thought the M. Oil smelled like cooking oil. Anyway...I would try Josie's w/ the BB tint...I love this foundation too!!

Actually some oils CAN dry skin -- tea tree oil (and other 'natural' ingredients) can be very drying. As a general rule, anything that has a strong smell or makes your skin tingle can be irritating (Cosmetics Cop has info on ingredients). Personally, I can't use tea tree oil, but I can use this BB Cream (although it's not quite at moisturizing as I'd like).

It all depends on how oily your skin is. Mine is pretty oily and I live in a tropical island, so I sometimes use the translucent Nars pressed powder for touch ups, but sometimes notice I don't really need it. Maybe only for going out dancing!

I haven't used a setting powder on top of this bb and I don't have the overly shiny look. This BB Primer has a very natural look. Maybe if your skin tends to get shiny throughout the day, then a setting powder might be what you want.

I always have the problem of an oily T-zone halfway through the day. I just got a sample of this last week and I went to the store and bought a bottle because you can use the smallest amount and get a lot of coverage. I can definitely say that I do not have any more oiliness on my forehead halfway through the day when I use this. Maybe even less than I did with my other foundation, actually. Because of my oily skin I only use a moisturizer at night and I don't put it on in the morning before my makeup. This doesn't dry me out at all. I never have dry skin patches anywhere on my face... but maybe if you do you would just want to put on moisturizer on those spots if it becomes an issue. I'd recommend trying this! Like I said... a little goes along way but it's great coverage.

It works really well for my combo skin type. I have a problem with UV lotion breaking me out and too much shine on my nose and forehead, and so far this controls oil well and my skin is not broken out. I still use an oil free moisturizer under the BB cream, and a hydrating moisturizer at night.

I have very oily skin and I love this product. Although it may not be the best for this type of skin (since it does not control oil), I use a mattifying powder over it and that gets the job done. No matter what product I use (and I have used just about all the oil control products out there) I will always have to blot during the day. I still use this because the coverage it provides. Depends on what is more important for you. Hope this helps...
