Just an additional note: I do wash the brush every week. I've been using dish soap and rubbing alcohol when cleaning it now and it seems to have made a difference. Thanks for all the responses.

The smell is likley bacteria growing on it. Try antibacterial soap

I wash mine in a bleach solution about once a month, I never had a smelly one.
I do it to deep clean it.

I used to wash the brush head with a bit of Hibiclens (antiseptic/antimicrobial cleanser) and warm water after every use, shake the water out and swipe the brush over a paper towel a few times (to speed up the drying process). When I ran out of Hibiclens one day, I tried antibacterial hand soap but it did not leave the same clean smell once it dried, so I washed the brush again with the hand soap and a splash of 91% rubbing alcohol and that did the trick (cheaper than Hibiclens, but not as convenient). I know the Clarisonic instructions are to do a thorough wash with soapy water once a week, but I really don't think that's enough.
