Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum

What it is: A corrective eye treatment that firms, brightens, and fights the appearance of wrinkles-and gentle enough for use on the eyelids. What it is formulated to do: Using professional-grade ingredients, this serum targets three aging complaints: wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles. NYC dermatologist Dr. Dennis Gross found the combination of the potent antioxidants ferulic acid and retinol, which helps support natural collagen, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and diminish the look of crepiness in the eyelid. Licorice root extract brightens dark circles and deflates undereye puffiness, while caffeine provides instant firming and tightening. The weightless, silky formula allows for smoother makeup application and gives you a rested, refreshed look-with or without makeup. What it is formulated WITHOUT: - Parabens - Sulfates - Phthalates What else you need to know: This product is vegan and cruelty-free. Research results: In a consumer study, after 21 days of use: - 93% agreed the fine lines around their eye area appeared reduced - 92.9% noticed an improvement in texture around their eye area- 92.6% agreed the skin around their eye area appeared immediately smoother

I think you can definitely put an eye cream or your regular moisturizer over this. I have been using this for over a year and in these colder months have used cream over it when I needed a little extra moisture with no issues.

Layering serums under other eye products is perfectly acceptable. I use a 2% BHA gel under the eye and brow, then layer the Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum and a moisturizer on top.

Eye serums and eye creams can be used together. We recommend applying your eye serum first, waiting for the product to penetrate the skin, and then applying your eye cream.

Question
Used 5 days and see more pronounced wrinkles around eye
I started using this product about 5 days ago. Day and night. I have not seen any improvement only feeling skin around eye area "more stretched" after applying this product and also notice existing wrinkles more pronounced. I am starting to apply moisturizer on top of this product. You know what is wrong? What should I do differently?

If you're using it to replace a moisturizer, it may just be that it's not moisturizing enough - it's just a serum, so very light-weight, and could leave your skin dry. I use it under a moisturizer. It could also be that the thin film it leaves on top of my skin makes it seem wrinklier; I've solved it by only using it at night.

If this is your first time ever using a product that contains retinol than what your describing is normal. Retinol is basically concentrated Vitamin A. It will be almost like a shock to your skin at first and it will take some time (at least a month, I've found) to gradually get used to it and improve over time with regular use. When I first started using retinol my skin seemed to get worse but I continued with the regimen and saw major improvements once my skin got used to it. But, if you are not the proper candidate for retinol ie. showing no signs of visible aging/fine lines, than using a retinol product will probably do more harm than good. Also, once you start using retinol you really can't stop or you will lose any improvements you have gained. Once your skin becomes used to retinol it almost relies on it as with anything topically applied and you have to maintain that. That's why I say you have to be sure you really need it or want to start using it. There are many places you can read about retinol side effects and proper usage. I would recommend you read up about any ingredient before you start using it just if for no other reason to know what your putting on your face and whether or not you truly need it or is the right solution for you.

I found that a little goes a long way. It has a pretty high concentration of retinol, ferulic acid etc. and your applying it to a relatively small area just around your eyes so you don't need much. I'm guessing I personally use around half a pump (it's not exact) for both eyes. That's worked perfectly for me so far.

answer 2
One pump squirts out a small amount that is enough for at least one eye, really both. I haven't really kept up with exactly how long one bottle lasts, but it is definitely months. I use it all over my face (not just eyes) almost every single night and then only on eyes in the mornings and I know one bottle lasts me at least 3 months. Probably longer. Then if you count when it stops pumping (when serum is almost gone) and you take cap off to use the rest, even longer. I don't waste any of it!

As with any product that contains retinol you definitely need to apply sunscreen, especially if you use this during the day. But, it's important to use sunscreen all over your face everyday in general if you use any products that contain light sensitive ingredients like retinol, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vit C whether you apply them during the day or not to avoid damaging your skin and undoing the good these ingredients have done. I personally prefer to apply this and any other products I use with light sensitive ingredients only at night. It's just easier that way and I have less product on my face throughout the day.

This product contains a specially sourced form of retinol that is photostable, meaning it doesn't cause light sensitivity. However, you should always wear sunscreen daily, no matter what products you use!

I would use a sunblock during the day to be safe. You never know how badly skin exposed to retinol will react to the sun, plus skipping sunblock means you may get more pigmentation in the area you want to fix.

As this is a serum it is best used underneath an eye cream and one with an SPF will protect your skin better. You may want to use this serum at night only if you do not wish to use an eye product with SPF.

I am almost 58 but my main concern in undereye wrinkles and eyelid sagging. It has helped both of those problems for me. I would recommend that if you have not previously used a retinol product that you try it once a day to begin with. I have VERY sensitive eyes and this has not bothered me at all. Since Sephora has such a great return policy it would be worth trying!

I would say weeks, possibly a month if used once a day. I use it in the AM. Finishing my first bottle and have come to realize that I need far less than I was dispensing at first. You can also pull the label back a bit and see what is left in the bottle...that is always a bonus!
