I use a little drop of dish soap and warm water once a week to keep it clean. I also use the Sephora make up brush cleaner spray for inbetween deep cleanings.

The Beauty Blender solid cleanser thoroughly cleaned my sponge quickly and with ease. I also notice it isn't harsh on the sponge.

I would recommend using baby shampoo or body wash (like johnson's) or beauty blender's cleanser to clean

Question
Will using this sponge absorb my foundation?
I have never used a sponge like this before and I am curious if it really will absorb my foundation. Also, I've seen reference to using it wet, but how does that really work?

Yes, the sponge will soak up some of your foundation. Hence the name sponge. It does blend your foundation on your skin for a seamless finish, and usually after it soaks a bit up and you don't rinse it off every single time you use it, you should be good to go and it won't soak up a lot. To soak it in water, you dampen the sponge and then use the sponge to apply your makeup and it is supposed to make your foundation blend even better. Personally, I've never tried that but I probably should.

Run it under the water and then gently squeeze the excess out, apply foundation to the sponge and then dab on face (don't pull or swish or rub on face). It really does work, I wasn't a believer either (years of applying with a foundation brush) but after seeing what this little baby can do...I'm a convert.

It works fine. It doesn't absorb your foundation, it just blends it. I prefer to use a sponge like this for blending it my jawline and hairline. Personally, I would go with a flat-ended foundation brush for everyday use as they can be cleaned and this has sponge a short lifespan.

How does this compare to the Beauty Blender?
I have this product and like the results but was wondering if the beauty blender provides better results? How do the compare and differ?

The coverage is pretty good! But if you want a sponge applicator that will last longer, definitely go for the beauty blender. I have both and this sponge is destroyed now... The beauty blender is, in my opinion, more resistant when you wash it.
I'd say, go for the beauty blender, because it's more of an investment than ''wasting money''. And if possible, buy the duo set!

I own both sponges. I also appreciate not paying for a brand name when not necessary. But... in this case, the Beauty Blender ABSOLUTELY wins hands down, without a doubt!! The beauty blender puffs up after being squeezed under the faucet and it gives a flawless finish like no other. I so wish I could say that it's not worth it, but it is!!! It's worth every penny!! The cleaner is also very good. It cleans well and smells amazing. It makes all my sponges and puffs look like new! I just gave away the sephora sponge because it just does not work like the beauty blender.

Question
Would this work well with cream concealer and mineral powder foundation?

If you use the mineral powder sparingly then yes. I use the same foundations except I use the bare minerAl powder and I notice its more clumpy if I use to much powder in comparison to using a stippling brush with the liquid and then the powder. The sponge works well but not as well as a brush can give you a more touched feeling where the sponge I feel gives me more of a layered feeling if I'm not too careful with it. Takes time to perfect using it I feel

I currently use Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer and the sponge works like a charm with it. It's great at blending cream concealer and foundation.

Question
Compare to the Beauty Blender
Has anyone used both this and the beauty blender? Can you compare them in terms of how well they blend, their size, how long they last, etc? Also, is this container a good place to store the sponge? It looks like it has a holder inside -- does that make it difficult to get the sponge in and out?

I find this almos similar to the beauty blender sponge except that I think the b. Blender is easier to work with around corners and feels slightly different. Still, this is pretty decent for a back up and leaves your foundation looking natural and airbrushed with no streaks. I also love that inside the packaging it cones with its own sturdy hard plastic sponge stand.

I've used both & they are comparable but the perfectionist blends smaller areas better. Even eyes. The package is NOT the place you want to store. Cool idea for drying but it ripped my sponge. Not sure about latex

Question
Why does it tear so easily?
I just got this makeup sponge today. I used it. Loved it. Rinsed it with water and placed it back into the clear plastic holder it came with. I got it back out and looked at it. I noticed two small tears. I did not ring it out after rinsing. It occurred when putting it back into the holder and taking it back out.

I have been careful with it. I even, instead of swiping/wiping the sponge,I dabbed. This was before it tore. I was careful while rinsing it. I do like the sponge.

Honestly, it's most likely how rough you were while applying your foundation and rinsing the sponge out. I've had this sponge for awhile and I do not have any tears in it at all. Just be more careful with it, and try to use both sides so one side isn't more used than another.
