Yep, it leaves you with a nice matte finish. It keeps me shine-free all day, but oilier skin might need to touch-up.

I wouldn't say it's immediately a full coverage product, but you might be able to build it up. I use a light application to even out my skin & hide shine, and it's never looked cakey or chalky. Definitely a nice product!

They took away the mineral paraben free with the sponge and replaced it with a product with no sponge and paraben. The matifying really irritates my eyes. The new 8 Hr. Matifying now has a sponge, but still has paraben's. They went backwards!

Question
New Packaging?
I just bought the Mattifying foundation compact (the one with the clear lid) and loved it. I noticed that they were discontinuing it and read that they were redoing the packaging. Before i buy this i wanted to know if this is the redone package? And if the colors are the same as last time. I have it in D10 so would i get it in D10 or are the colors different. Thankyou =)

The product and packaging are different. I find the product to be more mattifying and longer-lasting. I used to wear D05, but I found that I had to buy the new version of D10 to get a match, so you might need to go one shade darker.

Color seems the same for me but the new package takes some getting used to! It says it is the same product but it doesn't seem as mattifying now. Hope that helps!

Question
Does this work for acne/blemish prone skin?
I've heard really good reviews about this foundation but not many by people with acne prone skin. Is this foundation more likely to cause breakouts? (I have very sensitive acne prone skin)

Yes, although we would recommend using it with a primer designed for sensitive skin.

I'm extremely acne-prone and I use this over Sephora's 10-hour foundation and not one zit! Not one clogged pore! For reference, I use a 10% benzoyl peroxide wash day and night and moisturize with Tarte's Maracuja oil.

Question
Since I have very dry skin, I am concerned this makeup will dry my skin out too much...
I am trying to hang on to powder mineral makeup because I can't stand the feel of liquid or cream on my face. Does this Mattifying Foundation dry out your skin? I know that older women are encouraged not to use too much powder on their face because it can make you look even "older"... but I am trying anyway!

I have very oily skin, and I can tell that a powder is too moisturizing for me when it starts to feel gummy on my skin after a couple of hours. This foundation does not do that and continues to feel light and dry for hours, so my guess is that it may feel very dry for someone with dry skin to begin with. Hope that makes sense!

Just as a side note, I tried Tarte's BB Tinted Treatment as a sample and was amazed at how light it felt on my skin after it dried, and it had considerable coverage. Maybe something along those lines would be moisturizing enough for your skin type, but still feel light and dry. Just a thought!

I found this product to go on smoothly and not dry out my skin at all. I've purchased this particular line twice. So far, so good.

Question
Can it be used as a contour powder?
Are any of the colors cool enough to use as a contour powder? It's hard to find one that's not too red or orange and genuinely matte. I'm looking for a color a little darker than Sephora's bronzer in 3Los Cabos (which is a great contouring powder btw).
