Yep, it leaves you with a nice matte finish. It keeps me shine-free all day, but oilier skin might need to touch-up.

I wouldn't say it's immediately a full coverage product, but you might be able to build it up. I use a light application to even out my skin & hide shine, and it's never looked cakey or chalky. Definitely a nice product!

Question
Since I have very dry skin, I am concerned this makeup will dry my skin out too much...
I am trying to hang on to powder mineral makeup because I can't stand the feel of liquid or cream on my face. Does this Mattifying Foundation dry out your skin? I know that older women are encouraged not to use too much powder on their face because it can make you look even "older"... but I am trying anyway!

I have very oily skin, and I can tell that a powder is too moisturizing for me when it starts to feel gummy on my skin after a couple of hours. This foundation does not do that and continues to feel light and dry for hours, so my guess is that it may feel very dry for someone with dry skin to begin with. Hope that makes sense!

Just as a side note, I tried Tarte's BB Tinted Treatment as a sample and was amazed at how light it felt on my skin after it dried, and it had considerable coverage. Maybe something along those lines would be moisturizing enough for your skin type, but still feel light and dry. Just a thought!

I found this product to go on smoothly and not dry out my skin at all. I've purchased this particular line twice. So far, so good.

Even if this product contains SPF ingredients (not sure if it does), to be on the safe side you want to make sure to use sunscreen underneath. Keep in mind that beauty products don't follow very strict guidelines when it comes to making SPF claims so all the more reason to use sunscreen ;)

Natural beige is much darker than beige. If you're very, very fair, get the beige.

They took away the mineral paraben free with the sponge and replaced it with a product with no sponge and paraben. The matifying really irritates my eyes. The new 8 Hr. Matifying now has a sponge, but still has paraben's. They went backwards!

answer 1
It works as both a foundation and compact powder.

For use as a foundation:
1. Dampen the sponge (make sure it's not soaking with water).
2. Apply the product by gently pressing it into the skin.
3. Wait a few minutes to allow the product to dry and set.
4. Use a big, fluffy brush (since the sponge is damp)and apply the product as a finishing powder.
5. Allow the damp sponge to fully dry before placing it in back in the case.

For use as a compact powder:
1. Apply the product using the dry sponge.
2. Apply the product by gently pressing it into the skin.

NO! Do not use a wet sponge! You will ruin the product. Just use the sponge it comes with, wipe the sponge across the foundation, and apply the foundationon to your face as needed.
