Guerlain Maxi Lash

What it is: A volume-creating and curl-sculpting mascara. What it does: Experience astonishing volume and staggering curl thanks to a high-performance polymer trio. The first one wraps the lashes in extremely adherent oils to thicken the lashes. The second one, made with supple waxes, acts like a conditioner, softening the lashes so you can sculpt them into just the right shape and style. The last one acts like a finishing hairspray to set the amazing curve.

Questions & Answers for Guerlain Maxi Lash

Question
Is this mascara scented?
I think it would be great if you guys included info on mascara scenting. For example, for some reason Dior scents their mascara with a rose fragrance. Those of us with allergies find ourselves sneezing mid application which ruins the application smudging mascara all over the lids. Not sure why cosmetics companies think scent is necessary for make up, but it would be great to find this out in the description.

I read some reviews that complained about the scent but I honestly can not smell it unless I put the tube up to my nose. The scent is a very light pleasant Rose scent to me. I can't see the scent as being a problem but if you are really sensitive to scents or perfumes you might steer clear or go by your local cosmetic counter and ask for a sniff to see if it bothers you.

Does this flake?
I've read great reviews about no smudging, etc, but I find too many mascaras flaking even though I don't touch my eyes, doesn't seem to matter the price. Anyone use this have flaking problems? Thanks!

I haven't had a problem with flaking. It seems to stay really moist and almost not fully set, even the day after when you try to remove it. It's a little difficult to remove in the shower with just water, but I guess that's the price you pay for a no smudge, no flake mascara.

I've never experienced flaking with this mascara. It feels almost more gel-like and I think it sticks to your lashes a bit differently (and better) than other kinds of mascara. It's light and just feels like it's one with your lashes!

This product and Guerlain's Noir G de Guerlain both flake a HUGE amount. I had to return both. Best product with no flaking at all is DOLCE and GABANNA and LANCOME's newest mascara. Chanel flakes slightly but it otherwise superior.

I have not experienced any noticeable flaking. When removing the mascara under the shower, what would be flaking or clumps with other mascaras, is more of a fine powder-size debris.

Question
Does this mascara smudge??
I read a few reviews and some people said it doesn't smudge, but I have oily skin and oily eyelids. Many of the mascaras that I've used claimed to be smudge-proof, but I would still end up with racoon eyes. If anyone knows if this stays put on oily eyelids, please let me know..thanx!

Oily skin, hot humid climate, and I sweat if I walk ten yards and the temp's over 75 - but this doesn't smudge on me at all. I wore it today and walked around downtown running errands and then walked home (a mile), perspiration galore, and it hasn't transferred at all. It *is* a tiny bit harder to remove completely than similar non-waterproof mascaras (many of which will come off completely with just face wash for me), but the effect and staying power makes it worth the trouble.

No there isnt any smudging at all! I bought this back during christmas break and from that day on smudging mascara was no longer my concern. Although i would say that it does how ever flake if you over dose like i do but not alot or right away after the application. Like after 8-9 hours itll start.

Hope this review helps!!(:

I have a smudging problem too. This mascara smudged for me, under my eyes. I have had good luck with Clinique's high impact mascara - no smudges yet. I have been wearing it for a couple of weeks, it is significantly more natural than this Guerlain product, but you can apply mulitple layers if you choose.

I've never had a problem with this mascara smudging, even after a 12 hour travel day across the country. It really lengthens your eyelashes, so I would reccommend applying it to your bottom lashes first and then your top lashes, since we tend to open our eyes really wide when applying mascara to the bottom lashes. This will help avoid your top lashes touching your eyelid and creating a smudge. Hope this helps!

I have the same problem.. I call them "camel lashes"

This product did not hold a curl for me. I still have to use my "curling" mascara and this one over it. It works very well darkening, lengthening, and defining my lashes (once the first mascara has set). It’s soft and doesn't flake... it also lasted all day on a humid day with no smudging.

Yes and no.

It is the same brush/bristles, but there is much less mascara in the sample making the brush collect less and the sample brush to be more defining and separating without any clumping at all.

However, the regular size is still great and adds volume in less coats than the sample, and does not really clump very much.

Mascara is the most perishable item in your cosmetic bag.a tube of mascara should last you 3 months, I would not recommend "pumping" the wand in n out of the tube, that will cause air to get in the tube and dry out the tube of mascara faster.

Guerlain's maxi lash formula is both thickening and lengthening, so it should certainly help you with volume. As for whether or not it holds a curl, I haven't found my lashes to drop too much whilst wearing it, but I always use a curler before applying mascara (the Shu Uemura and Kevyn Aucoin ones work wonders). One last note is that the mascara is very heavily scented - which I love - and I know some people who find it overpowering. I hope this helps!
