Questions & Answers for Urban Decay The Vice Palette

Question
Is this palette portable?
I own a few of the books of shadows and the 15 anniversary edition but they are all very bulky and/or don't close well. This palette looks really good, but I am mostly interested in portability. Can I take it with me on a trip? Does it close properly? Are the shadows protected when the case is closed? The case looks sturdier than the book of shadows. Is the case metallic and resistant like the one on the 15 anniversary edition? Thanks for the help.

Yes it is super portable and perfect for travel. I am going to AZ in December and will definitely bring it along. It also has a very secure closure.

The colors are not protected, but you could probably add a piece of paper. The case is not metallic and does close properly. I think it feels sold. The double ended brush is great, though I also use my own brushes. It is portable, simply because it's flat and closes properly. I can't imagine anyone saying it's not portable.

This is a sturdy palette. While I don't have the palette you mentioned to compare it to...I can tell you that it does snap shut really well. Its also a sort of rubbery/mat cover, so it won't slide around or be damaged. Size wise you are looking at carrying something like a book. But its really nice. I took mine on holiday, just packed it flat between layers of clothes. There wasn't too much fallout.

The packaging is very hard a sturdy without being bulky. I believe it would fare well on a trip. When the palette is closed there isn't much room between the lid and the shadows so it seems pretty secure.

Yes, it's totally portable. But if you already have bos and 15 you might find the shades are not really 'new'. I will suggest a z palette instead of get this..

It's 7" width, 5.5" height, and 3/4" thick. So it's portable enough to carry in a regular size bag but not a cosmetics pouch. The lid snaps shut so you don't have to worry about the shadows getting ruined.

Yes, Vice is a portable palette for a medium sized bag. the closure is firm and the outside is firm and has a rubberized feel. It is much smaller and thinner than the 15th anniversary palette. Unless you carry a very small bad, you should have no problems. It includes a double ended brush and enough colors to make any look you want. I love it!

The VIce palette is definitely smaller than the Book of Shadows, and it is thinner than the 15th anny pallette, however it is longer and just slightly taller. The case is hard rubberized plastic, and the lid clicks closed so it is secure for travel.
I think this would be a very sturdy palette for travel and it is ideal since it contains a mix of textures and colors.
Also, you can make the 15th anny palette more travel friendly by putting a rubber band around the case, I have done this and not had any issues.

Naked 2 or Vice palette?
Question for anyone, Naked 2 palette or vice palette? I have the naked 1 palette and love it, and with all the upcoming sales, I think I want to pick up another UD palette. I don't know which to pick... I mostly wear browns so thats why im leaning towards the naked 2, but the vice palette has some browns and champagnes that look pretty.... any advice will help!!!

I was debating the same thing...But after reading up and researching on similarities, I recommend getting the Vice palette, since Naked 2 is ALMOST similar to the first one! If you do your homework on Temptalia's website, she has them compared side-by-side, each eyeshadows SWATCHED! You'd be surprised on how SIMILAR they really are. The only difference is that Naked 2 has a miniature lipgloss.

I say go with the VICE because NAKED2 is more of the same like NAKED. They are just slightly different hues. The VICE palette will add more colours and dimension to your eye shadow arsenal.

as an owner of both the naked 2 and the vice palettes, i say you should go for the naked 2 if you wear mostly browns. i have found that although i have both, the naked 2 is still my "go to" because the browns in vice are mostly shimmery. i do not know if the vice is a seasonal item, if it isn't, you should wait and purchase it second. don't get me wrong, vice is an awesome buy as well!

Hands down go for vice! I have the first Naked which is great. Saw Naked Two in the store and it is just a boring rehash of One. Vice has some great soft, neutrals and gorgeous copper, gold and browns, plus gem-like shades for night.

It depends on what you want...I have Naked2 and Vice. I used Naked2 pretty much every day, and Vice more for when I want something special or to do something a little different. If you already have Naked and are looking for a palette with more punch, go for the brights in Vice. Naked2 will be another great set of everyday neutrals. Both are great quality as usual.

The Naked 2 palette is very similar to 1...I like 2, but it felt redundant. If you want more colors overall, the Vice palette has them, a decent brush, and still some more tame colors for everyday use. The Vice palette is a better value in terms of size and selection, and contains many palette exclusive colors. It's also likely that Naked 2 will be around for sale longer, and Vice will be discontinued first, as the Naked line is being established and adding products.

Buy the Vice palette. The Naked 2 palette is way too similar to the Naked palette except that it is more cool toned and has a few more matte shadows. The Vice palette has browns and neutrals but also has those great bright colors if you want to add a bit a pop. Play around with the brighter shades and don't be intimidated.

I wouldn't recommend. I love this palette but it irritates my eyes big time.. I don't have this problem of irrited eyes with any other brand or any other UD palette...but this one makes my eyes really red (it happened every single time I used it, and yes, I did applied in the waterline). The colors are beautiful though.

Generally speaking, yes, they are safe to use on the waterline. But be careful when using the ones with chunkier shimmer, especially if you are a contact wearere like myself. Glitter always has a potential of getting into your eyes and causing irritation.

I haven't tried the shadows on the water line, but the darker, less shimmery colors are excellent as eyeliner on both the top lid and on the lower lash line. The darker shadows in this palette are by far the best shadows as eyeliners I have ever used. Hope this helps :)

Yes. With a bit of water and a fine line brush, any of UD's shadows can double as a liner. Do yourself a favor, and pick up a UD 24/7 liner though, because they are AMAZING & will last through work, the gym, etc. They also come in an amazing array of shades.

Most likely. The only palettes they have kept longer are the deluxe shadow palette and the two Naked palettes. It probably won't be around for too long IMO. I've collected all of their palettes, and usually grab them fast as they have a tendency to sell out, are harder to restock, and usually only do a couple runs to cover demand. I have 6 palettes that are no longer available for example.
