I also can't do red undertones in brow products and I don't have any issues with it at all. I find it's a pretty neutral brown, even on the ashy side of brown - which is good if you don't want the red. I've attached a swatch and my before and after pic for reference. I hope that helped :)

I'm not sure about the medium brown, but I know the rich brown has no red tones to it. I have dark hair and varying skin tone between medium and tan.. the darker brown works great. I tend to run into issues with red-brown brow colors as well, so I was happily surprised with this new find (for me). Also, the brush is pretty soft, so the product went on steadily for me, as long as I wasn't packing on product and using a very heavy hand.

I've found its staying power is pretty good, thru sweating at exercise class and all, but not thru a shower. I wouldn't claim it as waterproof as say those mascaras but it looks better too. Maybe you can add a light touch of waterproof mascara over it ( ?).

I haven't gone swimming it it, but it lasts all day and seems to be sweat resistant. It's the longest lasting eyebrow makeup I've come across that doesn't make me look like a drag queen (though sometimes I like looking like a drag queen, just not for work!).

I wouldn't say it's waterproof, but it's water resistant! It is very long wearing. I did wear this when I was swimming...it stayed on, but when I rubbed my brows a little came off. Great product, though. I use it everyday!

My natural hair color is very dark brown almost black looking so I decided to go with rich brown. I was looking for a natural look and wanted my brows to match my hair and it did. You have the choice of either making them very dark or light with the brush it comes with. Hope this helps.

Question
which shade to pick for black hair?
Hello everyone,
I have recently changed my hair color into the darkest shade ever "navy black" nut just normal black! lol so now i'm confused which one to pick for my brows , medium brown or rich brown? I don't like to look older than myself so which is more natural and matching with my light complexion & hair.

answer 2
If you don't want to look older than yourself I'd say go with the medium brown color, it's pretty dark anyway, they always say that no matter how dark your hair is you should never fill your brows in black or too dark, so that's my suggestion. Sephora/ most beauty stores are very good when it comes to accepting returns so if you don't like the shade just bring it back and exchange it. They also have no problem making samples, so express your concern and ask for two samples of both shades!

I have soft black hair & eyebrows. I bought the product in Rich Brown (darkest shade) & it is way too dark. I'm waiting for Medium Brown to arrive. For now to deal with the EXTREME dark, I set it with a light/medium matte brown eyeshadow.

I would go with Rich Brown; it's not too red--more on the ashy taupe side, and looks extremely natural with black hair. I just dyed my hair black and have been looking for a natural brow color for the longest time, but most brands dont make natural brow colors for black hair (even Anastasia).

Question
Taupe or medium brown???
I have light to medium colored brown hair with lots of blonde highlights. I am also fair skinned (always the lightest shade in makeup), so can I get by with using the taupe color or do I need to use the medium brown?

Your brows are supposed to be about 2 shades lighter than your hair so I'd recommend using Taupe. I have medium brown hair as well and I use Taupe. I will sometimes go over it with a medium brown powder to darken some spots, but it's not necessary.

my friend who's a makeup artist said brown is always the way to go. if you have pitch black hair then maybe the rich brown will suit you. however, if its black but not THAT black then medium brown. just apply it a little more darker. go in person in try them on. see which one looks more natural. ive gone from black hair to brown hair to balayage highlights hair and i use the medium brown :) hope this helps!

Question
brow mousse vs brow powder
I'd like to know if anyone has compared the tarte brow mousse to the powder. I'm looking for something to fill in bald patches (brown hair, thicker black eyebrows). Is one easier to apply? Does one look more natural? Do they have the same staying power?

For my sparse brows I've tried every type of brow color - gels, powder, pencil , you name it. I think the Tarte gel is the easiest to apply and has the most staying power of them all, w/o being difficult to apply and get it right. I found mascara types stayed on better but were fake looking and a challenge to make my brows shape right. This brush and gel work wonders for my light colored, sparse brows.

When u use the mousse you apply it first in the center of the brow (at the arch ) work your way outward then what ever is left on your brush use to fill in inward the widest part of your brow making it look gradient or ombre effect to look natural if u do get to much product in that area then use the spooky part of ur brush to brush in an up ward direction for a natural look. Because this is water proof I love it much better then power if u touch the powder it will rub off .

Definite staying power with this mousse! I can go swimming and still come out with flawless eyebrows. However, it is not smudge-proof if you rub with any pressure.

I'd say if you want to fill in all or most of your brow with a natural look, the mousse is the way to go. The mousse blends pretty seamlessly with natural hairs. If you just want to fill in small areas, I'd recommend powder.
