Questions & Answers for BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector SPF 25+

Question
Is Opal too pink for very fair skin?
I have light brown to blonde hair, blue eyes, and very fair skin. My skin has slightly yellowish undertones that are ideally subtly counteracted by a slightly but not too pinkish tone; overall, though, I'm more cool than warm in skin tone. Moonstone looks more subtle than Opal but I'm concerned that it might be too warm or yellowish/golden and add to undesirable yellowish undertones, and I think I'd prefer some shade to the no-shade of Pearl. Which of these three shades should I get? Thanks!

I recommend the Pearl if you have fair skin. I have fair skin with yellow undertones and the Pearl works great. Opal is more golden and I would recommend for medium skin toned faces.

Pearl is beautiful for your skin tone and most others. Shimmering Skin Perfector doesn't add to much color to the skin, but works more harmoniously with your skin tone to provide luminosity and glow

I'd say the "PEARL" is colorless and just adds a dewy healthy "radiance" to your own skin natural tone. I prefer it for a subtle-but-effective "overall healthy glow". (Or you can build it up as a hi-liter of selected areas). I returned the "MOONSTONE", finding it a little too yellow & obvious on my light-medium yellow-undertoned skin.

I have fair skin with pink undertones. I've used both the pearl white and moonglow. Neither one show up as colored on the skin because they are so sheer. I assume the other colors are the same, so I think you will be fine with the opal. Sephora has free return policy! :)

I love the lightest color (almost white) and have very light skin with a pink undertone, brunette hair. It works really well, looks very natural. Thats the color I would buy. Too much pink doesn't look good on pink skin and the lightest color just melts into your own skin, no color, so it looks really natural. I highly recommend this product. I have tried most of the Becca product line and its so so. This is the only stand out.

I would go for Pearl (more silver) or Moonstone (more gold). They are VERY similar and much more suitable for pale skin than Opal. I also found Opal to be too shimmery when I tried it.

I have the White Pearl, it works really well with my skin tone (fair with yellow undertone). Identify your skin tone first, then try to match with the color options of the product; if you don't find the exact match, go with the closest lighter shade. That's my experience anyway, hope it works for you. Good luck!

The wonderful thing about Shimmering Skin Perfector is that each color works harmoniously with your own skin tone. They provide luminosity and glow to the skin. Pearl tends to work well for very fair complexions while topaz works well for darker complexions.

I've tried all four of them, and I honestly think you could put all of them except Topaz on fair skin without it looking too dark. I have what I consider to be light skin (darker than fair, lighter than medium-light) with yellow undertones and I use both Moonstone and Opal on a regular basis, and I can't tell the difference between the two of them once applied. These are so sheer that I keep Topaz around to even the tan out on my forehead from my side bangs.

I received a sample and loved it so much bought the regular size. The sample had a little color so I assumed it was moonglow, which is what I ordered. The sample ended up being pearl white. I really can't tell the difference, both are a very sheer nude that doesn't show when applied. I have fair skin and either are wonderful. I keep the sample in my travel bag.

pearl is great for light to fair skin tones. But, I feel like it could be used for any skin tone, as it doesn't have color pigment. It really goes on as shimmer and blends with your coloring. Hope it helps!

Question
What is the best shade for fair skin?
I'm looking for the overall glow from within look and I tried a bit of the other illuminator in Josie Maran or Nars. I'm curious about this product and would like to get one to try on as people online says that it is not too glittering and should give you this very subtle glow look as if you have very healthy skin. I usually mix a pea size of the illuminator with my bb cream and I would like to do the same with this one.
I'm fair skin and in shade light with Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation and in shade Sand 2 with Bobbie Brown Skin Foundation.

I would buy the Pearl. You can get a gold highlighter for days you want some gold glitz (the Balm is fantastic; JM has a bronzer that works great for this). You can use a sampe of LM Radiance Primer to get an Opal effect. The Pearl for light skin, is a great every day product. It just makes you look luminous. No color thus more natural looking. With light skin, I leave the color for night and special days thus Pearl is the color I have and I LOVE it. The only Becca product I can rave about. I mix it into moisturizer; and or dab it ontop of my cheekbones over brows and on bridge of nose and cupids bow. Looks VERY natural, not like using a pink or gold color which makes you look made up.

The lightest shade (pearl) works well on my pale skin- especially if you're looking for a true highlighter (and not a tinted, sparkly bronzer.) I use over my Laura Mercier creme foundation and it looks fab!

I'm fair, blond, green eyes. I received the pale gold and it is subtle and great for my skin tone. It's a soft glow, not gliterry at all. I was afraid to buy the white, pearl color, as I am already too fair and was afraid of looking like disco. The gold adds a tiny bit of warmth. It's a very sheer product. Perfect to put wth foundation.

I'd say the "PEARL" is colorless and just adds a "radiance" to your own skin natural tone. I prefer it for a subtle nearly undetectable "everyday healthy glow". I returned the "MOONSTONE", finding it a little too yellow for my light-medium yellow-undertoned skin.

Depends on your skin tone. The lightest is light and bright on my fair skin. Watch Lisa Eldridge (go to her website). She has a good video and tips on how to choose the right color for your skin tone, for a natural glow.

Question
Must add to Becca Foundation?
I have the Becca Foundation in Nude, a nice match to my skin color. Feels like I have nothing on. Problem is, looks like I have nothing on. I am wondering if I need to add this highlighter to the foundation to make it look like I have something on my skin, otherwise, I am not sure of the purpose of the foundation as it really looks as if I have nothing on my skin at all. Do you add the highlighter to the foundation to get some effect, or is the highlighter a separate product that you use as a highlighter for your cheek bones, etc?

Shimmering Skin Perfector can be used how ever you see fit :) It can be added to your favorite foundation to give your skin an all over glow. Or you can use it as a traditional creme highlighter--checks, brow bone, and down bridge of the nose. Also, try mixing this in with your body lotion to create the most beautiful shimmer for legs and arms.

When my skin looks really good this looks really good. Have been using Amore Pacific serum; never have been impressed with any skin care product but can say after a week this has made my skin glow. Hence this ever so light not even as thick as most TM, looks lovely on my glowing skin. The key to success on this product is to have glowing clear skin without anything that needs covering. It is moisturizing, and then adds a hint of color with some SPF.

I use the highlighter after I apply my foundation. Usually to the top of my cheekbones, brown bones, and upper lip. If you do apply it with your foundation I would only do it to your cheek area so you don't look oily.

It's not a foundation, it's a base, so it's won't add color to your skin. But rather it is designed to creat a great pallette upon which to apply your foundation, concealer, bronzer, highlighter, etc. I wasn't overly impressed with it for this purpose either, and found it just OK. I may set it aside and revisit it as the weather warms a bit. It's very light, imo.

Becca's foundation is more meant to be a tinted moisturizer. It is not meant to give a huge amount of coverage, it is just to even out skin tone. You can add the shimmering skin perfector to the foundation. It will not give the foundation more coverage, it will just add dewiness to the skin.

Whats great about Shimmering Skin Perfector is that it uses multi-toned pearl pigments that work with your own skin tone. Each shade melts into the skin for a perfect glow. We tend to say that Opal is the most universal, Topaz for medium to dark, Moonstone for medium to light skin tones, Pearl for light.

You could definitely use Topaz as a bronzer. I actually got Topaz to use on the half of my forehead that my bangs cover and it works great as long as I add a little bit of shimmer to my other temple to make sure the texture/finish is the same. I even blend it from my jawline down my neck some when my foundation is a teensy bit too dark (I blend two foundations to get my shade and sometimes it's not quite right).

I do not think so. It is meant to be sheer and just to impart a dewy sheen. I don't think you could build it up enough to be considered a bronzer and it is so dewy that I would keep it on the high points of the face and not where you would normally put bronzer.
