The ingredients! Based on the time of year, my skin will only accept this and reject the essential or stem power. The "essential" is more of a milky white cream lotion that touts benefiting all "essential" needs for moisture. The Cellumination cream has an amazing gelled consistency that looks firm but when you dip into it and apply it to the face, it melts in immediately! It transforms and feels so good! It's wonderfully hydrating as well skin refining, and I prefer it to the Essential for moisture. It does more for me! Because it sinks in, turning into a liquids velvet gel upon contact, you can easily pay another moisturizer or oil over it if you feel it's necessary. I'd look at what products I can and cannot use and their ingredients, than compare these two using their ingredients to find what your skin will respond better to. Who k owe? Maybe a great serum is a better answer! I hope you find what you really want! I remember how confused I used to be and how overwhelming SK-II choices can be! Google reviews! That helped me! A lot of information is out there!

My understanding of the two is that this one does not toot specifically anti-aging wrinkle reducing. The EX is specifically brightening for those with freckles, damaged sun skin, or acne scars/marks.

It depends on what kind of benefit you're looking to achieve. The essential cream will help your skin stay moisturized. For me because of its pore refinement and fine line reduction benefits, it's best used in the evening on top of your regimen. Some people like to use the cellumination cream in the evening on top of the essential cream for added hydration, brightening and whitening benefits. I like the light consistency so I chose to use it in the day time as my daytime moisturizer and use the essential cream as a night cream. But if you want a great night cream in this line I'd suggest the stempower cream.

Question
Does this product contain parabens?
The ingredients list does not list any parabens but it does not state it on the "what it is formulated WITHOUT" portion of the description.

Yes, but they are in such small quantities that, unless you're already allergic or reactive to them, they aren't going to be a problem. I undergo radiation and this was approved and I love all SK-II.

Click the "Ingredients" tab beside the description tab here about the product to read them-
Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Niacinamide, Triethylhexanoin, Pentylene Glycol, Isopropyl Isostearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol, Sucrose Polycottonseedate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Batyl Alcohol, Squalane, Panthenol, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Centella Asiatica Extract, Lecithin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Cetyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Stearate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Stearoxy Ether, Stearyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum.
I've read/heard that unfortunately SK-II seems to have these things and that upsets me so I feel I may start phasing it out or just stick w the Essence.

Yes, it is. This is just the USA label. It's like the serum: in Japan you'll get Cellumination essence EX, here it is Aura Bright. Same thing!

This has been very kind to my skin during its acne prone times. If you really want to play it safe, the Repair C is a very hydrating serum that has an extremely high level of Pitera so the benefits are strictly Pitera driven and so very kind to balancing acne prone skin. And, the Lifting Emulsion is the OIL FREE moisturizer that I use with joy when I'm breaking out! The SK-II creams all tend to not be creamy and instead melt right into an emulsion type formula, and the Lifting Emulsion has stellar reviews for being so simple and gentle to the skin while still providing profound hydration! I recommend that if your acne is really bad, and trying the Clear Lotion followed by Facial Treatment Essence, and perhaps incorporating the Aura Bright Serum, the Cellumination EX serum in the iridescent tear drop bottle, which really helps the ph balance and renewal of skin, benefitting the acne and possible scarring, than finish with the Lifting Emulsion. But try samples, find what's best for you! Most of the time when we are prone to acne, it's because our skin is dehydrated so we need to clean, tone, prep, nourish, hydrate, and protect! The whitening masks are a God send for acne! I hope you find what you want!

Question
Neodymium, Chromium and Retinol
Does Cellumination Cream EX or any of the other SK-II products contain Neodymium, Chromium and Retinol/Vitamin A or their derivatives? I have read information concerning negative side effects from Neodymium Chromium and that several cosmetics including SK-II contain these ingredients. I have experienced allergic reactions including abdominal pain when using retinol/pro-retinol and vitamin A products. I would prefer to not use products containing these ingredients.
