Plates don't meet? do I have a defective iron?
I am so trying to love this iron. It does get close to my scalp, and my hair gets straightened...but I need to use my babyliss after I use this to get the look I want. I feel this iron still leaves a bit of frizz behind. The plates don't meet...I feel like my hair slides through, there is no grip! I need to hold the other end tight with my left hand to get any kind of grip. Do others find this to happen too...or do I have a defect?

Take the right amount between the plates. And use the tip to grip.

Question
For ethnic hair only?
I have dark brown, highlighted blonde hair which is coarse and frizzy. I do use keratin which helps. I have a babyliss flat iron which does work really well...but I am always on the lookout for something else! Do you think it will work with my hair? thanks!

This Pressing Iron is for anyone who has or would have benefited from a chemical relaxer. I am a black women, who stopped relaxing my hair several years ago and have moved toward a more natural look. However, as a women I want the versatility to be able to have different looks. I find this Pressing Iron great for my natural, baby fine hair when I want a smooth look. This Pressing Iron has allowed me to stop going to the salon to spend hours on end waiting and sitting under the dryer. I LOVE THIS IRON.

I don't have ethnic hair, and I LOVE this. My hair gets very frizzy in humidity and with this iron it stopped doing that. Now my hair is very soft, smooth and straight. As long as you use heatprotectant it won't damage your hair either.

If your hair is already damaged, please do not use this iron. It will get way too hot for your hair! This temperature is NOT appropriate for caucasian hair unless it is thick, coarse and curly! The Seductress will be a much much better choice for you if you already have damaged hair. The Seductress will actually help repair your damaged ends over time too. :) You will reap the benefits with that!

No. The level of heat is just right for any type of hair. Make sure to use the Diva Pressing Creme because it helps protect the hair from the heat.

What size is it?
The description does not say whether it is a 1/2 or 1 inch. I have been looking for a 1/2 inch iron and if this is that size then I think I may have found what I've been searching for. Please let me know. Thanks.

I was wondering if this was meant to be used in place of a salon treatment or if it was acceptable for daily use. Also, does it have to be used with the pressing creme?

Yes you can use this daily if you'd like. But it really shouldn't be necessary to have to use this tool everyday as it is meant to set your style in. Usually for ethnic women, it is best not to wash your hair everyday, so your style will last until your next shampoo. If you just have curly hair, then I do not recommend the Diva... get the Seductress instead. There is a reason why there are ethnic women on the front of the box.
Any time you use this tool, you should always use the pressing creme to protect your hair.
