It's the same as any other polish. It's not really rubber at all. Doesn't even feel different. The only difference is that it's less shiny than regular polish (semi matte). Use nail polish remover.

Yes, the rubber varnish can be easily removed with regular polish remover. It's not hard to get off like glitter, either. Whatever you use for your standard polish removal should be fine for this.

is it necessary to use the base coat or top coat when using this polish?

answer 1
Use a base coat with any dark color to prevent staining, and in general it's just a nice way to make a manicure last longer. The topcoat will create a shiny finish, not the rubbery satin finish you're going for when you buy the polish.

using a base will make it last longer, but you dont HAVE to use a top coat. if you want the rubber finish to be apparent, skip it. i prefer shiny, so i use top coat!

Basecoat, definitely - the color loses it's "rubber" finish if you use a regular top coat (I tried Seche Vite)

answer 6
The color comes out much brighter and better in my opinion if you do a white coat of polish underneath. It has a matte finish so if you apply a top coat it will no longer have that not shiny appearance.

I didn't use a base coat. I went a few days with teh matte finish, then a top coat to make it shiny because i was going out on the town, works great!

I use it with both a base and topcoat. With them my manicure will last good for about 7 days, and as a nursing student I frequently wash my hands. The look is more matte without a topcoat, but I'm not sure it would last quite as long.

answer 9
you're going to always want to use a base coat for nail polish in general. With this one you're going to want to especially wait and make sure the base coat is dry before applying polish. Top IS NOT needed because it will ruin the effect of the polish.

It removes as easily as normal varnish, it is like matte polish with a slight sheen to it. More a satin finish. No damage should be caused, it removed easily from all ten nails with a packet of remover for me. Not at all rubberized. Was mislead by rubber as a finish name.

The Illamasqua polish, or varnish as it is described, I think, extends your manicure. It goes on a little bit different than other polishes. I bought the one in Aorta which is a beautiful red; and am waiting for the top coat to be in stock. I have thin nails and the Illamasqua, for me, is strenghtening.
