Do the plates line up and does it have adjustable heat settings?

I read the reviews for GHD and some are awesome and some suck. I hear they have no adjustable heat setting and that the plates dont align and pull your hair out. Is all this true cause I dont wanna drop that much money on something that has no features and pulls my hair out.

The plates do line up, but there isn't a heat adjuster. BUT! This flat iron does not burn my hair! I very rarely have smoke coming off of my hair, and when I do it's usually because I kept the iron on my hair too long. I highly recommend this flat iron! ghd makes AMAZING flatirons!

It does not have adjustable heat settings, but I was told by two associates in the store that GHD is a very good long lasting straightener. And because of that and the high quality, it doesn't have adjustable settings because it senses how it should heat up to adjust accordingly to your hair. I just got this today, and I love it already. I do believe that their words were true, because it was just right for my hair (Thick, coarse). It heats up quickly, and it's gorgeous. It also didn't pull or snag my hair like my old cheaper one did, and it made the perfect curls (:
If you really do change your mind and don't like it, you can always return or exchange it. This is perfect for thick hair, but if you have thin hair you can try it too. But a lot of people with thin hair love the Sultra.

Are the plates 100% ceramic? Is aluminium part of it and why?

Most of the streightening irons have aluminium plates covered by ceramic on top. I am looking for iron that has 100% ceramic plates.
