Lancôme Hypnôse Star Mascara

What it is: A mascara that provides ultra-volume at the lash line for a sensuous curve from root to tip. What it does: This mascara dresses lashes in intense volume, unfolding a new vision of glamour inspired by Betty Boop and top model Daria Werbowy. The formula's "black-diamond effect" imparts a glossy gel-like finish. The dual-action brush has a flat side for optimizing product deposit at the lash line while the rounded side separates, defines, and lengthens.

answer 1
No, not waterproof. It flakes and smudges as it actually goes on. Of course, that's my experience and it didn't work well with my type of lashes, which are thicker and voluminous and long normally.

It is not, but it sure acts like it is! It stays on, even through sleeping (if you fall asleep without removing it!), but my lashes are not hard or brittle. Love this new product!

It appears to be moisture resistant to a degree as I am very oily..and it hasn't smudged yet!

It'll come off if you take a shower or something, but I've shed some serious tears with it on and it didn't budge! So maybe I'd call it water resistant. =P

I bought the original hypnose many times, and it's much better, than this one. (I have medium length thin lashes). The regular one stay better, more length and volume and, what important NO black under eyes

No, it's not. I would stick with the original Hypnose as it's never let me down. I don't see any reason/evidence that Star is better than the original.

I don't know. I got this sample in the Sephora Favorites for Christmas 2012. I really love it. I have oily skin and it hasn't smudged off. It defines beautifully and did not clump at all.

this one is much better! I think the formula is lighter, so it doesn't weigh down your lashes which results in super long and sky-high lashes. Love it! Ask for a sample if you're not sure about it, that's what I did.

I think it is better. I really liked the Hypnose Drame too, but thanks to the innovative brush and perhaps a different formulation, this one does a better job of lengthening and separating my lashes without clumping.

Yes this will it makes them really long I also use the primer and use this boy oh boy it made them really long. I love lot of volume but this don't do alot of volume but, it really lengthens the lashes for sure use the flat side first then use you the side of the brush to up lift it now you don't want to build alot of it because then it gets spirdely

answer 6
Yes. For me, it lengthens, defines and volumizes my lashes. If I use it with even a drugstore primer, I get the false lashes effect. Unbelievable, because I have pretty short lashes. I always curl lashes first, and this mascara is pretty good at holding the curl (after that first week or so of that brand new "wet" mascara is over).

It does lengthen, curl and separate your lashes. Try it with the Dior Primer and you'd swear you were wearing false lashes!

I have very sensitive eyes and also wear contacts. I have been a faithful Definicils user for years and did not like the original Hypnose; however, the Hypnose Star is amazing! No flaking, no hardening of the lashes, yet stays on like a waterproof product. LOVE this mascara and will buy again!

I haven't tested it in situations with water yet, but judging from its awesome staying power with no smudging, flaking, or migrating downward, I would say it's safe to assume it's water-resistant (also when taking it off, it's not easy but comes much more quickly than water-proofs)

answer 5
It doesn't say so, but the formula must be pretty close to waterproof because it doesn't smudge or flake with my oily eyelids. It feels gentle to my sensitive eyes and doesn't cause tearing or burning. It holds the curl of my lashes (after I've curled them with a curler) like a waterproof mascara does too.

You're probably using it correctly. I never understood the big praise it receives on a daily basis. This definitely doesn't work for everyone. I received this and gave it to my mom. My lashes are naturally dark and full and long. This product made my eyelashes clumpy and flakey and just ugly. They looked spidery as well, I just couldn't handle it. However, it worked ok for my mom and she has lighter lashes and not full and shorter lashes.

It takes some getting used to! Start with the rounded side from the base of your lashes. The rounded sides are meant to separate, define and lengthen. The two flat sides are meant to even out the coverage of the formula on each lash, gives volume and enhance curl.

I love this brush! When applying, make sure you are keeping the wider end of the brush towards the outside of your lashes. Start with the wand on it's side (so that you can see the triangular shape), then roll it as you manever it across your lashes. Then, use the flatter ends to make sure the tips of your lashes are good and covered!! I hope that helps--It's hard to describe! haha!

I typically hold it so the brush appears to be flat on the lashes. That will benefit you, because the lashes get closer to the brush and then they are spread and curled with the long bristles. This may not make sense.

Question
Does it really curl?
I have tried with several different mascara to get my lashes curl because they are ridiculously straight. And yes I do curl my lashes before I put mascara on but after about 30 seconds my lashes are straight again! It's very frustrating so I need to know if this will help, if not do you have any other suggestions?

This product does curl my lashes, however, i use a beauty trick. apply the product on the back of the lashes before the front. When it dries, the product will help pull the lashes upward. sounds weird, but it works for me :) You'll love this product!

No it is NOT waterproof. I was told by a Lancôme representative that as of right now this amazing product only comes in the one shade of black and there is not a waterproof formula version of the product out on the market yet. I think because it is such a newer product was the reason for there not yet having a waterproof version; because trust me I asked because I wanted that benefit as well. I did hear that there should be a waterproof version in the future but for now no not a waterproof mascara. Hope this helps:)
