Questions & Answers for Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Clarifying Colloidal Sulfur Mask

Question
Amount to use overnight
Hi, I just bought this and am very excited to use it. However, I'm just wondering how much to apply overnight. It's not as thick as many masks, so I'm wondering if I should apply the same amount as I would a cream (and rub it in?), or have a thicker layer as I would a regular mask (which seems a little odd to sleep in, but I'm not sure). Thank you!

Dr. Gross suggests that you apply a thin layer over the affected area one to three times daily, or overnight. I like to apply it all over my face, a thin layer of course, and then let it dry for bed. In the morning I rinse it off, and I see improvements every time!

That's a great question, and maybe you could experiment with what works for you. I use a thin layer where I think my pimples might pop up (jaw line and parts of my forehead) and a thicker glob on an active pimple. The thing is, if you apply a lot you'll burn through product and likely waste some on your sheets if you're sleeping in it (like I do), but if you're using it during the day, you could probably heap a little more on your problem area. If it works by drawing our impurities it needs to have direct contact with an area, so if you have a thick swath, I don't know if that is even beneficial, for any product for that matter.

This mask is sensitive and clarifying enough to use on a daily basis. Dr. Gross recommends that you use it one to three times daily, but you can leave it on overnight as well. Hint: if you use it every night, you will see amazing results

I do. If I have a pimple, I'll put a visible dab of the sulfur mask on it and for my acne-prone areas, I put on a thin layer (it sinks in so I can't see it) each night and then sleep with it. In the morning I don't wash my face with water, but I use a cleansing wipe (Ponds with the little exfoliating beads) and that works for me.

I'm allergic to sulfa medication and have no problems using sulfur products for acne (and they are very effective). Sulfa and sulfur are completely different ingredients. Of course you should always check with a doc if really concerned.

Question
Compatibility w/exfoliation products
I use an exfoliating treatment at night. Could I use both or would that be too much? If I used both, how long after I apply the exfoliating treatment could I apply this mask? (I alternate btw Bliss Peeling Groovy & the Incredi-peel)

I've used it in conjunction with Philosophy retinol products and I don't think there is a problem with layering. Evening routine: shower and use clarisonic w/ enzymatic cleanser, tea tree toner, retinol pad (but I admit, I don't use every night), acne treatment with B vitamins, eye cream, moisturizer (retinol or not), sulfur mask where I need it only. I would think you might want it to be your last step? It is a little drying, so if I put it on last I can control where it goes.
