The Some Kind of Gorgeous is more of a cream foundation that turns to powder. Not my fav. This is a pressed oil. It doesn't feel as dry as the Some Kind of Gorgeous, I thought that was more for oily skin and the LM for dry skin

I've tried both, so I hope I can help!
This Laura Mercier compact tinted moisturizer is loads more moisturizing. It stays dewy and is much kinder to flaky or dry skin. Some Kinda Gorgeous sets to a more powdery finish and emphasizes dry flakes on my face.
Some Kinda Gorgeous is better than the Laura Mercier TM compact at initially controlling oil and blurring pores. However, after a few hours SKG breaks down and pools into my pores anyway. SKG also oxidizes on me throughout the day, while Laura Mercier TM compact does not.
Coverage is equivalent. Both are sheer and help even out skintone without really covering freckles, acne, etc. I feel that Laura Mercier TM compact looks more natural after layering than Some Kinda Gorgeous.
They both work well when applied with fingers, a brush, or a sponge. I prefer fingers for both.
Both cremes start firm but get softer and "melt" as I run a finger over the surface. Personally, I think the texture of Laura Mercier TM compact is smoother and more refined.
Smell! I could never stand the smell of Some Kinda Gorgeous! Laura Mercier compact TM does not smell.
Laura Mercier TM compact costs twice as much as Some Kinda Gorgeous when you look at it per ounce.
Personally, despite the high price tag, I lean more towards Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer compact. I just feel like it's more refined, performs better on my skin, and is more forgiving. Plus, SPF, no bad smell, and 12 shades!
