Question
Red bumps
I just started using this system about a week ago, and it felt really great on my skin at first. I used it mostly as described, but I read the exfoliating acne treatment gel could irritate, so I only used it once a day. I know it says breakouts usually occur for the first two weeks as impurities purge, and while I'm getting that, I'm also getting red bumps, patches of dry, flaky skin, and it feels tight after I use the cleanser. It's like my skin's more irritated than breaking out, though some of it is the purging pores. I have sensitive skin (I was using Proactiv before, but I had to work up to it very slowly), so I started using smaller amounts of the products only once a day and the exfoliating acne treatment gel every other day. Sometimes it seems like cutting back is helping (I will eventually work up to all products twice a day, or that's my goal), but sometimes it seems like the bumps are spreading. Is this part of the process? Am I having a negative reaction? Should I continue to try to work up to the recommended usage for the full 4 weeks?

Definitely continue... I just added a review urging those that have started not to quit it. It took 2 months to see 70% clarity and 9 months later I am totally satisfied and glad I didnt stop. It made a mess of my face the first 2 weeks, but the alternative that I was using was ProActive and it didnt work and aged me. This product has given me youthful looking skin and I am super pleased.

The product worked for me from day one, it never gave me any side effects or caused any irritation. My skin is very sensitive and it has worked very well. But if I feel my skin needs a break from any of the creams. At night all I do is wash it and put the exfoliating gel and nothing after it to let my pores breathe.

I can't say for sure. Everyone is different. However, usually when I have a reaction to a product, it doesn't get better. Do you use a moisturizer with the products? Maybe that would help...

The first week or two, I too, had very dry skin, stinging, burning, flakes, and breakouts. But after about a month of use my skin has gotten so much better and is almost clear. However, if it becomes too unbearable I would definitely stop it and consult a Murad professional.
