Question
Gelshine vs. OPI Axxium
How does this compare to the OPI Axxium that is done in salons? Does it damage your nails as much? Are the colors as good?

AFTER THE TOP COAT AND LAST TIME UNDER LED YOU MUST USE THE GEL CLEANSER ON A PAD AND WIPE EACH NAIL BEFORE THEY ARE COMPLETELY DONE.

Works just as well. You do not have to use OPI gel color. Other gel brands work with this system as well

Question
Curing time - need longer time?
This is my first time using the Gel System. My nails did not seem to cure -- they are still tacky. Is that normal? Should I continue using the light until they seem dry?

Hi - the tacky finish is removed when you use the nail cleaner (the last step). I've been thrilled with the end result. Hope this helps.

Your nails are going to be tacky, even after curing, until you use the nail cleanser as the last step. The cleanser removes the tackiness after they're cured, and then they should be smooth and dry.

I just purchased the gelshine kit and my nails are still wet and sticky after I completed the application. Is this normal?

Yes this is normal. I made the mistake and thought that my nails were still wet and wasted a tone of time curing over and over again. It's actually a residue left on the nails. Once you complete the final step of cleaning the finished nail with the provided pads and cleaner as instructed, this residue will be gone and you will be left with a shiny, smooth finished manicure that lasts and lasts.

I am on my third manicure with the kit, using about 5 weeks now and using the same bottle of High Maintenance and there's still plenty left. I'm definitely getting more use out of this polish than typical nail polishes because my manis are lasting so much longer.

I didn't use a primer other than the base coat that came with the kit, and my nails are still great after a week!

You can do a full manicure in about 15-20 minutes. I did this morning during breakfast--curing one hand, eating with another--but I have had some practice, now that I have had this system for a couple of months.

About 45 minutes to an hour. It takes 20 minutes to wrap and soak off the old gel polish. So it is about the same amount of time as at a salon but in the comfort of your home.

Question
can you do french manicure?
I actually have a few questions: 1) can you do a french manicure with this set? 2) can you do toes? 3) I have been wearing fake nails for about a year and have soft, damadged nails as a result, can I switch directly to this? or do I have to wait for them to recover a bit? Thanks

I have done French manicure with this light, but bought some additional nail polish (white and pale pink). I have done my toes as well, and I think I love the pedicure possibly even more than the manicure, because it lasts forever. My foot (9.5WW) fits fine under the light!

You cannot achieve a french manicure with what's included in this kit alone. You can only chose one color to include with your purchase of this set. So actually, I guess if you just wanted white tips you could choose one of the 'white colors'. There are a lot more color choices available in-store than on-line.

Absolutely. I only got the free Sephora nail polish included with this kit, and bought several other brands, including Gelish, Sensationail, and whatever I picked up at Shoppers in Ontario, and they all work beautifully with this system.
