Questions & Answers for Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester 15

Question
Can this be combined with Retin A?
Vitamin C is usually a day thing; this has it being done at night. Can it be combined with Retin A? This is a question for the non sensitive skin people who like "challenge" the skin.

I contacted Perricone, and they said this product can be used day or night, but not both. I don't think you should use this and Retin-A at the same time. If you want more of a "challenge," get the strongest Retin-A and use it every night. If you're already doing that, have you tried using Retin-A on damp skin? That might kick it up. I learned that trick back in the 80s when I had a bad case of acne.

I asked a sephora associate at the hollywood location if i could use this with retinol and he said yes. he said I could use the vitamin C first and wait a few minutes before putting on the retinol on top. He also suggested trying the vitamin C on the area I needed most and using the retinol around it and comparing the two ways (with retinol on top and without) and seeing which one my skin likes better. we all have different skin but YES it is safe to combine them.

Vitamin C Ester is a terrific form of Vit C for sensitive skin. Most Vit C's are too harsh. This is a different type of Vit C and safe for all skin types, including those than can be irritated by ingredients.

Use only a tiny amount at a time. It should last over 6 months. So far, one tube has lasted for close to two months and counting...

Question
Is it ok for this cream to be used in the summer time?
Hi!

My name is Patricia and I live now in Brazil. I´m 35 yrs old. I have sun damage on my skin. The reason for my question is because I´ve used other creams with Vitamin C at night before and had skin burning sesantion while walking on the streets (because of the sun) and had to stop using it. NEVER USED THIS VITAMIN C ESTER 15.
I would love to here from you guys.

Thanks!

You can certainly use Vitamin C Ester 15 during the summer. This is a night time product only. Be sure to use an SPF 30 during the day and avoid the sun as much as possible to allow for best results.

I am not a specialist, but personally I'll use it when I take a night off from retinol, say, maybe 4 or 5 nights of retinol, one night of C. This balance works well for me since retinol leaves my skin a bit angry after some days anyway.

I've been doing this and although it's totally unnecessary, I've had no bad reactions with it.
Using the vitamin C ester alone will do everything retinol is intended for: increase cell turnover, reveal younger skin, control oil and tighten pores. Except Vitamin C does better with wrinkle control.
Try combining Vitamin C ester with a Vitamin E serum. Now that would be a great combo

Hello,
This is a nighttime treatment that is used before a moisturizer. I use a pea-size amount and tap the product into my forehead, cheeks and chin-then massage it in. It absorbs quickly! Then I finish with my moisturizer.

Question
is this okay for use after procedures?
I am wondering if using this after like an IPL or microderm would be ok? I don't have sensitive skin, and would like to help speed up the healing and of course encourage spots to leave. Also, How long is this supposed to last?

I wouldn't use it post-procedure. At least wait for sensitivity and /or peeling to subside. I'm not a skincare professional, but I think I'm correct about this.

Too many irritants at once usually isn't good, even if you think you wouldn't mind it. This is one of those times that "just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD."

I don't mean that this Vit C product is that irritating. But it is somewhat, and that's one of the reasons it works so well.

It should last at least 60 days, for me it lasts longer. You apply this every night. If you use other Perricone products, you apply after cold plasma - if you use just a moisturizer, you would use prior to a moisturizer. This can be incorporated with other products - just remember the rule of thumb to apply products thinnest to thickest. This is a treatment not a moisturizer, so you definately need moisturizer on top. Hope this helps!

I am not a skin-care professional. But I do have lots of experience with retinol, glycolics, and topical C. I suggest using Vit C during the day. I would not use glycolic with it. Some professionals say it's ok and others say not. If nothing else, it's too irritating. I use a moisurizing glycolic acid at night, alternating with Renova every third night. Works for me.
