I found the glycolic acid 3% was PERFECT for my acne prone skin. I've not tried the other one you mention, but this one worked very well for me. Totally cleared up my skin. Only downside, it made my skin quite sensitive so I only use it twice a week or so. But even just using it a couple times a week keeps my skin clear. Love it so, so much.

i tried this product and it works great. I say, try this first, if you don't like return it for the acne one (love sephora's return policy!)

I bought this and the orange one. I use the orange PTR 2x a week and the clear one daily. Both are amazing and last forever! I would just buy both because I have been using the same bottles for about 6 months so they last a long time.

Technically you should go with Beta Hydroxy Acid for acne breakouts, it's more able to get into pores to unblock them. I've found that my skin doesn't respond that well to BHA alone, however, so I would recommend a combination AHA/BHA treatment. You could get an all-in-one combo treatment or just use an AHA cleanser and a BHA topical treatment. It depends on how sensitive your skin is though; if you've never used any type of Hydroxy Acid before, start small and if you feel you need something stronger, go up from there.
