Questions & Answers for Peter Thomas Roth Botanical Buffing Beads

Question
Should I buy this or the Blemish Buffing Beads?
I have combination skin. My cheeks are completely clear and it's my T-zone that gives me problems. I don't have severe acne but it's not clear or mild either. I went to the spa and the "facialist" told me that using the Blemish Buffing Beads in just my T-zone area would be good for my skin - using it for the rest of my face would be too drying. So I was wondering, should I get the Blemish Buffing Beads for my T-zone or get this product and use it all over my face? Are the Botanical Buffing Beads harsh or bad for acne-prone skin?

You would benefit from this product. I have found that I use it where my skin needs it. In a couple of days your skin will be clear.

No, it's not harsh. I prefer the Botanical Buffing Beads to the Blemish Beads - the Blemish one didn't seem as effective for me, and the Botanical left my skin feeling nicer. I threw out my travel sized Blemish Beads after giving them a shot. If it's available, purchase a kit that offers both (in travel sizes) so you can judge for yourself!

I have sensitive skin/rosacea and use this product am and pm on my entire face with special attention to my chin where my whiteheads are - it has not irritated my skin at all so I think you should give it a try!

I have dry skin on my checks and my T zone is oily not so oily that a blotting paper will pick up any oils but i use it throughout my entire face and I have no issues. I also tend to have a free blemishes on my forehead since it is my T zone and my bangs graze it. So by all means definitely use it on your entire face.

I am not familiar with the buffing beads. However this product is gently but does stimulate the removal of dead skin all over your body..
I apologize I cannot answer your question

I have acne-prone skin that is combination as well. I chose the bontanical buffing beads instead of the blemish beads b/c acne is caused by a mix of dead skin and sebum in the poresl; exfoliation is the key! Plus, the bontanical beads are more natural and are use natural healing ingredients to buff and moisturize the skin. It works well for me... I hope it works well for you too!

I don't think is a harsh product, I have fairly sensitive skin and this didn't cause any irritation, unlike other exfoliants I tried.
I would encourage you to try this before the other product, although they are two different things and you may end up needing both.

I use the "blue stuff" I also have combination skin, some acne, and oily T-zone. I use this product every day all over my face and I love it. It is not drying at all. I have use this same product, but i think it is the yellow one that is for acne skin and it is too drying. Blue stuff...its wonderful and well worth the money. I suggest you give it a shot.

What I would do is get the botanical buffing beads for all over, and then find a separate product for your t-zone. To me, it seems like a waste of money to have to get two seperate scrubs in the full sized bottles...

Hi There. Use this scrub every other day or it may depend on how dry your skin is. Try using it 2-3x a week and increase it if you require more exfoliation.

I use it am and pm - I have sensitive skin/rosacea and sometimes on the area I am particularly working on (whiteheads on my chin) it will feel a bit tight but I don't care as long as it keeps improving the area.

I have combination skin, and I use this scrub every morning in the shower. It's gentle but effective, and my skin looks much better since I began to use the scrub every day instead of 1-2 times a week. A little goes a LONG way, so you won't use up the bottle soon, even if you use it every day.

I have seriously sensitive skin that gets dry patches, despite being oily. I've been using Buffing Beads every morning for a couple of months, and it has helped eliminate the dry patches and control the oiliness.

I get whiteheads or acne under my eye area. My skin is generally combination, but tends to be dry in winter.
The affected area does not get red or sore like a blind pimple , but if you stretch the skin you can see the white bumps.

I would think this is too harsh for under your eyes. Sephora must have another product specifically for your condition....Sorry

I think you should discuss what to apply there either with a dermatologist or your eye doctor.
I wouldn't encourage you to try any OTC product for eye related conditions because you might end up having a different problem!!!

I have skin similar to yours. Though I do still have some whiteheads or "white bumps"..(those are very hard to get rid of and most of the time need to be removed by a beautician or dermatologist) I have not had any more form since using this product. There has been a reduction in the amount of them though and only have a few left on my cheeks. I also use this with the Sephora face brush that's like $5 and enjoy this much more now with the brush. I love this product!!

Sounds like you have a similar problem as my friend... his pours around his nose get really clogged up about every third day with lot of big, nasty oil heads. And at the same time this happens, he still needs to use a good moisturizer or he complains that his face "feels" dried out... and his face does peels sometimes in the winter when it's really dry. I bought him the peter thomas roth buffing beads to take care of the oil heads, and it works wonders!!!! It really cleans out all the oily pours. He uses it about every other day to every third day. For the moisturizing problem, he just uses a store-bought lotion... but I'm would be the p.t.r. facial moisturizer would be pretty awesome too.

I have used this with my clarisonic and had no problem. I'd highly recommend doing a small spot test to make sure it's a compatible pairing for your skin.

Question
How does this product work with oily/acne-prone skin? Can it help reduce oil and acne better than most products?
I have been debating for weeks on which facial cleanser to purchase. This or the Ole Henriksen Aloe Vera Cleanser. Both are affordable but I need to know which one is more worth to buy. I've been using PTR Acne facial wash for only 4 weeks and literally all my acne is gone! But when I went into Sephora, a sales rep told me once your acne has cleared up its bad to keep using it causing it to strip your face and make it dry which is exactly what happened :/ so I need a good daily facial cleanser that can keep breakouts away without stripping my face's moisture.

I don't think this is the product you're looking for. It isn't terribly moisturizing, or scrubby (pleasant enough, and maybe if you have sensitive skin you'd love it). My daughter's derm recommends a drug-store brand (foaming facial cleanser) as mild and non-drying. My daughters and I all use it.

I use Ole Henrickson African Red Tea Cleanser - I know, neither of the ones you are debating :) Overall, I am a huge fan of the Ole line, & my skin has yet to have a bad reaction to any of its products.

See if you can get samples in your store of the two you are thinking about, and see which one seems to do better for your skin.

Question
New formula?
This product seems to have changed color. It used to be a cool blue, as pictured, but the one I just received is more of a green-blue teal color. Did the formula change? Has anyone noticed a difference? Thank you.

I have purchased many bottles of this product. Over time, the color changes from bright blue to a more green/teal color. I believe it is due to oxidation or exposure to sunlight. I have used both a brand new bottle (blue) and a bottle I found in my closet from a year or so ago (more green), and they both are effective it seems.
