Too me this comb is a lot sturdier than most combs... I've broken teeth off of other combs before, but this one... has lasted me a loooong time.

It's much sturdier than your average comb and it withstands tugging and pulling without breaking.

i bought a cheaper comb and a beauty supply store and I have been unhappy with it...this comb is a great replacement!!

I've made purchases of combs from beauty supply stores only to have the tines of the comb break off on the first use. This comb has a good combination of flex/give and strength that makes for a sturdy comb that works well when working out knots and kinks.

well the other combs i used didnt make my hair silky smooth, just hurt my hair and the teeth would come off... this comb is a good price and i recommend it to anyone!!!

When I bought it, I just needed a comb to evenly distribute conditioner through my hair, but I'm pretty sure you can get the same quality for a buck or two cheaper at a beauty supply store. Though, I will say, you'll probably get more durability out of this one than those.

It's thicker and feels sturdier than a regular comb.

This comb is special because once you start using it, you'll find that you rarely get a split end from tangles and snarls. It combs through snarls and tangles easily. It's also perfect for combing product through hair. I use it after I apply my root lifter, and other products. Distribution is even.

I like it because it is gentle for detangling my hair when it's wet after I get out of the shower.

Its not the type of plastic that will shatter, it would take alot ot break it.

This is a really durable plastic comb. I've had it for about 6 months, and use it everyday and it looks brand new. The words are slightly worn, but that could be because I often use it in the shower to comb through a deep conditioning treatment. I really love the quality of this comb. I have purchased combs from my hairdresser and they don't even compare in quality.

It is a nice plastic, a bit softer than most combs you fine. Is is hard, or firm but not brittle. I like it for my curly hair. I keep it in my travel kit.

Yes it is a heavy plastic. I can be a little rough with combs and brushes sometimes because my hair is so thick, I have no fear of this comb breaking!

I will say that I had similar concerns as a woman of color, that has been known to kill a comb on the first go...

However, this is the best comb that I've had to date. Not only does it help with taming the mane, it has stood up to chemicals, hair goop and my handbag! In fact, this may be the comb that I recommend to girlfriends looking for that must have comb!

It is a heavier weighted comb, it fits nicely in your hand, and I have dropped it, my kids have stepped on it, and rolled over it with their toys! It has held up through it all :)

I've dropped it a number of times and it hasn't shattered. Thin though it may be, plastics are often stronger than most metals and ceramics these days.

It's a nice, denser plastic that feels pretty sturdy. It does not feel easily breakable to me.

No, you will want a fine tooth comb for back combing.. It creates more friction between your hair than a wide tooth.

It's wide tooth so that won't work, you need a fine tooth comb for that, preferrably with a pick at the end.

Yes I have tried it on myself (I have thick, curly hair) and a friend who has medium thick strait hair. It worked a little on me, but for her hair type it didn't work well. The "teeth" of the comb are too far apart and don't "grab" the hair well. I would try using a different comb, although I do love this comb for other things!

i used it to tease my roots and found that it works just as well as a fine tooth comb

Teasing does not work for me. I have relatively straight hair and the comb is too wide and thick to tease.

It doesn't work. You need the teeth to be close together for teasing. These are too far apart.
