Inner rim of eyelid
How does this work on the inner-rim of the eyelid? Does it stay on all day in that area?

I know you've already had a lot of answers, but I thought I'd add my two cents with a couple of alternative products to try out.

For me, aqua eyes is a great liner for the outer parts of the lids, but it doesn't really work for inner rims. Considering the product's amazing staying power in water or with tears, it makes sense that the tears on the always-wet area of the lid can prevent the product from actually being applied. It's water repellent, after all. It's never really worked on anyone I've tried it on for waterlining.

Bobbi Brown's gel pencils work great on the waterline, they won't smear or run and they're pretty non-irritating. I have super sensitive eyes that turn red easily and I've never had a problem using them for waterlining.

Lancome also has a couple of gel liners now that are excellent for waterlining and won't smudge.

Sure hope that helps ya! :)

I wear contacts so this might be a factor to my problem with this product, but when I wore it on my waterline my vision became blurry and smudged all over my contacts (It cost me two pairs!! so it wasn't a one time thing...) =.="

I was really disappointed with this product because with application it does have amazing pigmentation! So i would defiantly NOT recommend this product for use on the waterline...

Hi,

I don't think this is good for inner rims. There are many new liners made specifically for inner rims that stay in place during the day, but then remove easily. You might want to check them out. Sephora can advise you on the ones that might work best for you.

Hope this helps.

I do love this pencil - it's creamy and applies great - HOWEVER, It does poorly on my inner rim. The color doesn't show up as intense and it fades quickly.

If you're looking for a good inner rim liner I highly recommend Smashbox Jet Set Liner. It glides on effortlessly, the color is intense, it stays put all day without wearing away and it makes your eyes pop!

This doesn't last one my waterline. It shows up, but after a little while it starts to fade. If you want something fantastic to line your waterline with, I highly recommend the Guerlain eye kohl. It looks a bit frightening, but once you get the application with a stylus down it's amazing. I hope this helps!

Aqua Eyes is a waterproof eye pencil and is gel based rather than a traditional pencil. It is creamy and goes on smoothly, but does need to set-up for a few seconds to become waterproof and smudge proof. If your eye rims do not "tear up" or "water" when you apply you'll be fine.

It definitely is safe to use on the inner rim, waterline, of the eyes. Dany created both her eyeliners and lipliners that way. Due to the creative nature of her work, both products can be used interchangeably. It most definitely stays all day!!!! I also love Smashbox Jet Set liners!

If you like Aqua Eyes, I'd suggest any of these: Bronze Green, Pearly Brown, Forest Green, Burgandy, Shimmering Plum, and 21L. Gold-bronzy greens to accentuate the brown in your eyes and purples to really make the greens pop. Brown and greys for understated. I'd also suggest Urban Decay Stash, a gorgeous bronzy green.

Make Up Forever's Aqua Eyes liner stays on pretty well. They have a good selection of colors however you might have to test out the greens as some may be too bright for what your looking for. Another great thing is that you can blend them in with a brush to mute out some of the color or even use it as a shadow.

Hi,

Sephora sells a variety of sharpeners that work perfectly. Look for one that contains the shavings in an enclosed section, plus one that has a duo size. They're very inexpensive and last until they get lost. Sephora makes as nice duo sharpener as does NARS and UD (Grind House). DuWop had a great duo sharpener, too, that sanitizes tips as it sharpens.

This is "water proof" and requires an oil-based eye-makeup remover, however if you have oily skin, it may start to wear off after a few hours. It stays put better than any other eye liner I've ever used, but sometimes by the end of the day, I start to notice transfer on my upper lids at the outer corners. It's still far better than most others out there however! I do find that the older the pencil, the "dryer" it gets and therefore the longer it lasts w/o transferring or wearing off.

While I can't say whether or not the manufacturer would say it is "safe" for the inner rim of the eye, I have used it for this and had no problems. As with any other eyeliner, you must keep it clean and sharpen often and do not share with anyone- not even your BFF. This is the only way to ensure that it is "safe."

Can Aqua Eyes be used on the inner eyelids?

answer 1
I respectfully disagree with the answer that says that you can't get it off with out rubbing and tugging. It's actually not that long-lasting when used on the inner rims.

It doesn't completely disappear, but it's nowhere near as long-lasting as a product as it is on the eyelid skin itself.

In terms of safety, you can absolutely line your waterline as long as you use a pencil that isn't too old, don't have issues with contact lenses or very sensitive eyes.

Most liners will be able to be removed completely from the inner rims with a gentle cleanser. Waterproof formulas are only waterproof on regular skin. Waterlines, or rims, are different and these products aren't truly waterproof or smudgeproof on these areas so they tend to be removed much easier.

I use this on my waterline with pretty good results so far. Lasts longer than most eyeliners I've tried inc. MAC khol, Lancome khol, even Urban Decay Glide On for me. I ALWAYS wipe/blot my waterline first because the actual name for the waterline is meibomian glands. Of all things, the waterline produces sebum (an oily substance) which is why the line is naturally oily. I know that I shouldn't be covering the waterline with makeup, but I suppose vanity is a factor here. The waterline has specific "duties" to protect the eye. And that's why many ophthalmologists would cringe at us doing this. I have read some liners where it said ophthalmology tested, but for exactly what part of the eyelid? If you notice getting stye eyes, chalazions, or infections along the waterline and you do line them, I'd discontinue lining that area altogether. For what it's worth....

A woman who works at the Sephora I go to suggested the Aqua Eyes instead of the Urban Decay, and I don't regret my decision to follow her advice. I'd say go with the Aqua Eyes as it is incredibly water-proof and long lasting. (I've even slept in it and woke up the next morning and it was barely smudged. The worst thing is that you have to really TRY to get it off, but that's what you want in an eyeliner anyway. I suggest olive oil for removing makeup anyway.)
