I would say medium firmness & density. It's softer than the Sephora bronzer brush, which was larger and denser. (what I used before this one) The bristles are much higher quality and I find I don't waste as much powder, more gets onto my face as opposed to scattered all over my chest and makeup desk.

This brush is very dense, and tightly bound...I played with it for quite a while in store and it did not shed at all. It is extremely soft, and well made.

Yes, it comes with a hard plastic cover. Even though I started using it already, I like to keep the cover on to help keep its shape and also so it won't get dirty easily.

Yes, it comes with a plastic like cover that has a cap on it as well so you can open the cover tube and slide the brush back down the proper way so as not to destroy the bristle and keep them compact. I also highly recommend this brush. Best face powder/ finishing powder brush I've ever owned.

Yes, it does have that hard plastic cover to protect it. I still keep the cover so it'll help keep its shape and won't get dirty too quickly.
