Question
Dark Circles
How well does this work on dark circles? I have some pretty bad ones. I've used the tarte stick concealer but the tube broke (the cap wont go back on) so its pretty much trashed. I was thinking of trying this one out.

This concealer is great for dark circles! I would go a shade or two lighter than your normal concealer (a lesson I just learned from a MUA friend of mine)

I too have very dark circles. This product has been by far the best I've tried...and I've tried A LOT. The trick is to find the right shade and how you apply it. I normally wear medium but got this in fair. So do not go by what you normally wear...you should really try it out before you buy. Apply it by patting it under your eyes with a finger and blend out with a brush. You do not need a lot. If you want more coverage just keep doing these two steps by applying a touch more concealer. Hope this helps!

I really like this product.!!!! I just put a minimal amount on my ring finger tip and rub my finger tips together to warm product up and gently pat under my eyes and blend until coverage is complete.

Under eye coverage
I bought this a couple of weeks ago but this doesn't cover my dark under eye circles - do you need to layer a lot on? Or, do anything different? Everybody says it covers well but I just haven't found that. Thanks for your tips!

I found that this concealer works best if I pat on a little foundation first - I use Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation SPF 15. Then I put on the concealer and my under eye area is much brighter. Hope this works for you!

i would suggest putting on a little bit blend it well and then put on your foundation. if still not enough coverage after that then put on a little bit more and blend it well b/c you dont want to end up with the opposite of raccoon eyes. if that does work then maybe you need to find another color or brand.

If I am super tired and the bags under my eyes are extra dark I use a TINY amount, put it on (but using the dabbing technique that tarte recommends is vital) and I build up layers as needed and it lasts all day. People think I actually got rest! :)

I find this concealer is thicker than other types so to lay it on evenly, I first put a layer of cream which ends up diluting it nicely.

I found that they all run a little more pink. I think the Light was the most yellow. I am not super fair, but I remember noticing that one looking the pinkest. I have olive skin and desperately search for makeup without so much pink. I use the Medium and mix it with luminizing liquid to tone down the color and it works pretty amazingly for me. Cuts the pinker tones right out.

Don't have an answer to this, only a reply that the same thing happened to me (just bought this about a week ago) and I am really disappointed to hear I'm not the only one..I hoped mine was random. I think it is a great product but not worth the price for how low it is filled.

Mine had a lot of air in it too. I thought the same thing you did. Then i realised how much I use on a daily basis. I dont use much, maybe a pin head for my whole face. Ive had this concealer for at least six months, probably longer. I have not even begun to make a dent in it. Ive still got at least 9/10 of the tube left. It is worth it, the price for the amount. I use it as a concealer for redness, under the eye (in conjunction with dark circle defense by tarte for my severe under eye circles), on pimples/spots, pigmentation issues, scarring, etc. My mom also uses this. She uses it as a foundation five days a week. She has had her tube for 3 months and has at least half left. It will last and its worth it.

How light is the lightest shade?

Never tried the Smashbox (thanks for the reccommendation!) and I can tell you that I have literally the palest of skin tones. I don't even need to test anything out to know that I will be the lightest shade and even then sometimes it's too dark for me (lol). A worker at Sephora tested this on me in the 'fair' shade (which is the lightest) and it works wonders on my undereye circles and is the perfect color for my skin. :)

I have the light (not sure if it's the lightest shade) and I have a medium complexion. But, you should use a lighter concealer for undereyes. If you are super light complected...I'd say this may be too dark for you.

Here is my opinion on all tarte concealers. Tarte dark circle defense is great for under the eyes. Thats all Id use it for. If youve got under eye circles, you want DCD. Tarte amazonian clay stick concealer melts down very fast, super easy to blend out. Dries down to almost a powder finish. I like the stick for pimples, thats all really. Ive got oily breakout prone skin and I find it a bit drying, but I like that for spots/pimples. Tarte maracuja creaseless is a nice all around concealer. Ive never believed that one concealer could do it all well. Quite frankly I think thats expecting too much. If I had to take one concealer with me, say traveling, it would be the maracuja. It is full coverage. Works pretty good for under eyes, not as good as DCD, I sometimes layer the two. I think its nice for scarring, redness, pigmentation issues, I also really like it for pimples when they start to dry out and they have that flaking. The finish on this has a bit of a glow, not shiny. It can easily become matte with a touch of powder to set it. Does it crease? That depends on your skin and what products you use under it. If you use a lightweight eye cream or eye gel under your eye makeup, no it wont crease. If you use a heavy eye cream, all your eye makeup is going to crease or smudge. I find the maracuja concealer healing and moisturizing, but it doesnt make me oilier than I already am. Hope I helped and didnt confuse you.

I just returned the Maracuja tube because the product is too thick and difficult to blend. I purchased the stick instead and love how easy it is to blend. There is a little less coverage with the stick, but still does quite a good job.

i have both concealers, i think both work well at covering, but i find i reach for the maracuja one more, i think it covers a little better and lasts longer. other than that, this is a liquid and the stick is a solid. i find both need to be warmed a bit for easier blending-- i apply both with my finger

My mom had the same issue. They make it like that to prevent people from squeezing out too much product and wasting it. You really only need a pin dot to a pin head, if youve got a whole lot to cover. Anyway I used a clean pin and pushes it up along through the hole in the tube. Be careful not to poke an extra hole through the tube. Do that until it comes out to your liking. Just be careful when squeezing product out after that.

Is your skin very light? I am olive complexion, but a light olive so I am always in-between shades. I also have a yellow undertone and the medium matched me well. I tried the light, but I felt like it had too much pink in it. If you're hesitant I would recommend the lighter one. It will even out with your foundation.

I haven't tried the 'light' color in this concealer, but I do know that the sales associate tested the foundation on me and actually told me that the 'light' shade is lighter than the 'fair' shade in the foundation! The 'fair' oxidized on my uber-pale skin and made me look like an oompa loompa. I suggest testing it out in stores and finding what matches best with your skin tone.
