You should use makeup remover regardless if it does take off makeup, especially if you're using this because you have acne problems. You'd be essentially rubbing makeup into your skin. You can also use the purity cleanser first to take off makeup and then use this.

This cleanser is really great at removing any impurities as well as makeup! It breaks down the liquid or powder foundation. I was a little tentative to use this on my eye makeup so I started using Philosophy's Purity just around my eyes and then used the Clear Days Ahead on the rest of my face. This actually seems gentle enough to be used on all makeup though. So I would give it a try and if it's a little strong for you then maybe try the purity cleanser or wipes to take your eye makeup off first! Good luck! :)

You can remove your makeup with this product, but avoid the eyes because it's a bit harsh, and will burn if it gets in your eyes. I would suggest cleansing twice if you use it to remove makeup. Personally, I use Burt's Bees citrus facial scrub before using this cleanser, and that removes the makeup while exfoliating my skin, and then I follow with this cleanser.

you will need a makeup remover. You typically need one with any cleanser though.
