I have mild hormonal acne on mainly my chin area, and this product pairs really well with acne medications and chemical exfoliants. It absorbs pretty quickly on my skin, and does not make my skin oily. If you have access to a local store, go in and ask one of the cast members (what they call Sephora employees) for a sample and they should get you a little thing with a few days supply of it to try to kinda see how it makes your skin feel.

Absolutely! I always use it right when I get out of the shower, then apply extra eye cream, concealer on red spots, foundation, a little blush, and some BareMinerals mineral veil and I'm face-ready for the day. It's pretty good for the entire day too if you're not constantly touching your face--the foundation should stay in place for the whole of a normal day with this product as a base.

I did experience a little more acne the first few days that I used it, but it did not last long against my tough skincare routine. Don't be put off that by the product if you do experience more acne then usual because that could be a sign that it's working! Your skin gets worse before it gets better because all of the oil and sebum (nasty stuff in blackheads and whiteheads) that comes to the surface the the first 3-5 days of usage. This is your chance to get rid of it!!!

I have not tried Hope in a Jar before, but I have experienced the burning sensation you described in other moisturizers. I would suggest paying close attention to how you wash/cleanse your face. If you're working the skin too hard (scrubbing and rubbing and other harsh cleaning methods) then it can become easily irritated, and adding any type of skincare product would result in burning. Next, look at the ingredients. Is there anything that you know of that you are slightly sensitive too? Then, if all else fails, give it a try! There's never a bad time to try a product or change up your routine. I hope this could help even if I couldn't give you a comparison between the two products.

I don't think you'll have problems with this one, but if you could try before you buy it should put your mind at ease. I think perhaps Hope in a Jar might have had too much alcohol in the mix for your skin type. There are fewer ingredients in Hope in Jar so the amount of alcohol per volume would be higher than in Take a Deep Breath. Also, the main type of alcohol in Hope in a Jar is Benzyl Alcohol, which my skin tends to find very harsh (my reaction sounds similar to yours, burning/stinging, then my skin turns bright lobster red where ever Benzyl Alcohol has touched it and itches). Take a Deep Breath has Cetyl Alcohol as it's main alcohol ingredient. It still has Benzyl Alcohol but in a much smaller amount, but I have found that it doesn't irritate my skin at all in this formula.

A little. Towards the end of the day, about 10 hours after applying, I start feeling oily again. But prior to that, it helps keep me less oily. If I'm going out after work, that's when I'd touch up with powder or an oil blotting sheet. It isn't oil controlling, but it's oil free, which is hard to find in a moisturizer. I love it!

No, this won't make your skin matte. However, if you have oily skin and you're looking for a moisturizer, this might be good. it leaves your skin feeling lightweight and isn't an overkill. But again, it won't make your skin matte. If you're looking for a mattifying moisturizer, I recommend the Sephora Hydratant Matifiant. If you want a super good high end one, try the Murad one.

It's not exactly mattifying, but it does soak into skin very well without leaving a greasy residue. It also discourages acne production by flushing the skin with antibacterial oxygen. And of course it keeps skin happy and hydrated, so it may not feel the need to produce excess oil to overcompensate. I am oily and breakout prone, and this is the best moisturizer I have ever tried!

How does this compare to Hope in Jar?
I have Hope in Jar, but find it too heavy. It leaves my skin quite oily feeling in a few hours. I love hope in a bottle (only from philosophy directly) and use it in the morning, but it can be drying with the salicylic acid. I need a very light weight moisturizer for night time, curious how this might fit the bill.

answer 2
I have applied this over my eyelids because I found that one lid felt a bit dry (kinda weird, I know) and one time as I was applying over my eyelids I think I was too rough because when I opened my eyes they stung a bit (I suppose some of the moisturizer got into them). It burned a bit and made my eyes water but it definitely went away in 5-10 min, if not less. I still apply this to my eyelids and the area around my eye with no irritation. Maybe you should discontinue your use?

that's weird.. I've had same reaction to other face creams BUT not to this one!!! it's very light and maybe you are putting it too close to the eyes but I even put it under and over my eyes and I don't feel anything.. maybe you might be allergic to this product... I am loving it and I keep buying!!

No, I haven't had any irritation from it. It seems very cooling/soothing to me!

I never had that problem... Maybe you're allergic to the cream or something. Either way, if it is irritating, you shouldn't use it anymore.
