Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation

What it is:A high-pigment foundation for full coverage with a long-lasting, beautiful finish. What it does:Kat created this foundation to provide exceptional coverage, without compromising a smooth, striking finish. Natural polymers absorb oil for a matte, soft finish and the added emollients provide a velvety texture for perfectly smooth, hydrated skin. What it is formulated WITHOUT:- Parabens - Synthetic Fragrances What else you need to know:This foundation has been formulated to work synergistically with Kat’s Rehab Priming Elixir, Tattoo Concealer, and Lock ‘N Load Setting Mis. We apologize that shade Light 42 is currently out of stock. It will be back in stock in the fall. Please sign up for email notification to be notified once stock is available. Thank you.

Don't just sample it at the store - ask for a multi-day sample to take home. They will squirt some of the product into a little container and it should give you 3-4 days of product to try.

Question
Color match
I'm about an NC30 and was wondering what shade I might be in in this foundation. I was thinking medium 54, but I know this foundation oxidizes and I don't want to look like an Oompa Loompa after it does. Any suggestions?

We suggest trying either the Medium 54 or 56 for the most comparable shade.

I'm sorry, but you cannot get samples of different products online. Although, you can order them, then send them back to get a full refund if you don't like what you've purchased. I hope this helped!

Question
Color matching for deep nc44 skin tone?
I have been matched in-store with 64, but that shade is too pink and beige for my yellow undertone. The color IQ (with my Mufe HD 170 as a frame of reference) suggested that shade 62 would match me. Does anyone know if 62 will work for me? It looks like it may be a bit light.

Question
What is the best tool to apply this foundation?
I recently received a sample and tried using a beauty blender but it ruined the sponge, it became rubbery and it seemed to pick up the foundation off my face. Would a buffing brush work best??

You may have not been using the beauty blender correctly, as this type of thing happens when your sponge is still too wet! After you squeeze all the water out of the beauty blender, you then need to take a towel and tap the beauty blender on it from all sides to make sure it's wet, but not too wet. Also, make sure that you're not swiping this product onto your face with the beauty blender. For lack of a better word, you need to "poonch" it like many of the makeup gurus show in the Youtube videos about beauty blenders. You also may have tried to apply too much product in one area at one time. Take a little bit of product and go all over your face with it. This is a buildable foundation. Do the first layer, and let it dry, THEN go back over with the second layer to cover up trouble areas. And to answer your question about using a brush, yes, of course you can use a brush with this product, it's just way easier to use a beauty blender =)

I used a beauty blender. Try putting a very small amount on the sponge at a time. A little goes a long way with this makeup. Then I build if I need more coverage.
