Questions & Answers for The New Black Ombre 5-Piece Nail Polish Sets

Are these sheer? Opaque? Some of each?
The only polish application method I know for a true ombre' look is to layer overlapping coats of sheer polish in a graduated range of translucent shades. Are these polishes translucent, or are these for the so-called ombre' look that is so popular these days (painting each nail a different shade in the same color palette)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

These polishes are quite opaque, intended to be used as one color per nail to make a progression across the hand. However, in my opinion the Walrus colors do not make a good transition.

They're not translucent - the colors range from a deep sapphire blue down to pure white.

Definitely more of a "paint each nail a different color" thing!

Looking at the product info I think they market it as a one color per nail item; I haven't tried the true ombre look with it yet but I do intend to try it.

Each bottle is a different color, shade. One is matte, one is shimmery! There are different versions of 'ombre' one like you said is to graduate the color per nail, this kit has you paint each nail a different color. Just a different take on Ombre! Its worth getting! The bottles are small, smaller than i expected however I used so little polish that the kit will last a LONG time!!

I bought the Walrus set and all the colors are opaque. The darkest color is a shimmer and the rest are creams.

These colors are opaque and actually do a great job of covering the nail with one coat. For the ombra look it is referring to having a different color on each nail, ranging from dark to light or vice versa. You would not be using all the colors on one nail. the effect of having a different color on each nail is pretty cool. I hope that helps!

Is the quality really that bad? Does it depend on which set you choose?
I am specifically interested in the Haze set.

i think so i have heard bad reviews about some of the sets, but the pink set in Floyd that i have lasts 4 days on my hand and 9 days on my toes ands the colours are amazing and rich colours, and is beyond amazing!!! and i heard that the blue set in Wave is pretty good! :) try it out and if you don't like it, you have 30 days to exchange your set or gets refund! good luck!

I thought the quality was actually quite good. I recently bought another brand and that polish chipped right away and was very tacky when applying. This set was not. Some of the colors are very shear and take more than two coats, but other than that I thought the quailty was acceptable.

They are smelly in the sence of when you are applying them and you get this very strong smell of nail polish odor, but that's about it afterwards you wont smell anything
