I apply mascara to both eyes & then Lash Genious right after so the only "dry time" is finishing the other eye & switching tubes.

I find waiting till my lashes are dry to the touch makes them last all day! I have also not waited and found that it doesn't waterproof as much. (I have those typical Asian eyelashes, straight and I often get the raccoon eyes if I don't use waterproof everything!)

When they showed this to my in the store, they applied it a minute or two later, after my original coat was dry. Applying at home, I wait a minute as well. To my understanding, this works to coat over the original mascara to make it waterproof, like a topcoat for nail polish.

Also, I suspect that if you applied while the mascara was still wet, it might affect how the lashes looked - like smudging nail polish.

I put mine on right after my mascara and later in the day if I need a little refresher.

I wait about a minute after my mascara has been applied then apply this over it. I also swipe it on the underside of my lower lashes and the tops of my upper lashes too to create an invisible coat of armor over all of my lashes not just the top.

I tried wearing it alone on my dark eyelashes. It did make them look prettier. And it did dry clear. However, there was a clear, sort-of plastic-coating look to them that made them look awkwardly lighter/gray - hard to describe, but like they were coated in some sort of residue.

This is basically colorless - it looks whitish on the brush, but it goes on clear and stays clear.

Yes you can wear it alone. It comes on clear. Overtime ive noticed the tube getting gray/murky because i use it over mascara, but this quickly goes away and doesnt seem to dull my lashes at all.

Nope! It's great for keeping your mascara out from under your eyes. But not in the swimming pool. I looked like a raccoon after about 1 minute.

100% Yes!!! I just got back from spending 2 weeks in Florida and took this with me. The first week we were in a tropical storm and this kept my eyes looking fabulous and the the second week we went to the Gulf coast and I swam in both the Gulf and in the pool with this on over my mascara and I had women asking me how my I could keep my eye makeup looking so perfect while swimming. I mean real swimming too not just dipping my feet in the water but swimming underwater with my two kids. This is a must have!

Does it help hold a curl?
For those of you ladies with stick straight lashes, does this help hold a curl with regular non waterproof mascaras?

I don't notice it holds the curl any better than mascara. But that is not what it is designed to do anyway. Just waterproof and it does an excellent job.

I do not think this would work alone. It's clear. You would not get the same affect as a dark color.

Yes! But admittedly, I only use it on my lower lashes. I think it may be too light to use alone on your upper lashes. So maybe my enthusiastic yes, it an enthusiastic maybe.

Not sure. It has no color, nor does it lengthen or thicken. I believe it's just a basic water proofing formula. I don't notice a difference in holding a curl either.

Look at clear mascaras if you just want shine.

Hope this helps!

Question
lash genius waterproof topcoat
This product really gives my mascara staying power & keeps it from melting in the heat or smudging BUT I can't get it & my mascara off at the end of the day. The last remover I used was Makeup Forever waterproof remover which did not work. What do you recommend?

I always use Clinique's Rinse Off Eye Makeup Solvent Makeup Remover and it always comes off easily. I just put some in a cotton ball then dab on your lashes and let it sit for a few seconds and then take off and I never have trouble taking it off. To refresh my face after, I use Clinique's Wash Away Gel Cleanser!

I use Tarte Amazonian mascara because my eyes get irritated by most other mascaras, but it isn't very waterproof. Has anyone with sensitive eyes used this, and how was it? Thanks!

I have VERY sensitive eyes and wear contacts and this waterproof topcoat NEVER causes me any trouble. I feel very comfortable with it and this is an AMAZING product. After trying this, you will trash all your previous "waterproof" mascaras that leave your lashes sticky and clumpy.

Question
Swim-proof?
I have stick straight eyelashes; I curl them and find that only waterproof mascaras hold the curl, regular mascaras straighten them once I apply defeating the purpose of curling my eyelashes prior. When I go swimming, even with waterproof mascaras my eyelashes straighten out again. So my question was, will this product work to keep my eyelashes curled after I go swimming (pool/ocean)?

This product did not work well for me to give my non-waterproof mascaras waterproof-ness. But, it did give my eyelashes a perk over already waterproof mascaras that I own. So, that may give you a little lift.
My favorite for waterproof mascara is Cannonball by Urban Decay (also at Sephora). I curl my lashes first, tissue wipe the applicator to avoid "spider-legs", apply it, then comb through a bit. Afterwards I make sure to let them dry. This may be all you need.
But, I did try applying Anastasia directly after applying Cannonball and it did give it a small lift; for me Cannonball had already did the job so this Anastasia product did not give much bang for the expense, but it may work for your problem if the right waterproof mascara isn't cutting it.

I too have straight lashes, and unfortunately when I tried this out at a water park a few days ago it did not work in keeping a curl. It didn't last very long also, I started getting raccoon eye pretty quickly in the water :(

Question
UD Lingerie & Galoshes: Is This Comparable?
For anyone who used Urban Decay's Lingerie & Galoshes (lash primer & waterproofing topcoat), is this product exactly like that or comparable? I really miss UD L&G and was ecstatic to see Anastasia come out with this new product!

I haven't used the product mentioned. But I do love this for waterproofing!
Just make sure that your mascara is mostly or fully dry before applying. This makes my lashes waterproof on a normal day. (Did not fully last at a funeral, but didn't expect it too.)
Over all, I've tried this on name brand mascara, waterproof mascara and drug-store mascara. Seems to work wonderfully.
