I tried wearing it alone on my dark eyelashes. It did make them look prettier. And it did dry clear. However, there was a clear, sort-of plastic-coating look to them that made them look awkwardly lighter/gray - hard to describe, but like they were coated in some sort of residue.

Yes you can wear it alone. It comes on clear. Overtime ive noticed the tube getting gray/murky because i use it over mascara, but this quickly goes away and doesnt seem to dull my lashes at all.

Afterc much experimenting I found semi dry the best. if you wait for your mascara to dry then the bristles can not work through your lashes.

I apply mascara to both eyes & then Lash Genious right after so the only "dry time" is finishing the other eye & switching tubes.

I find waiting till my lashes are dry to the touch makes them last all day! I have also not waited and found that it doesn't waterproof as much. (I have those typical Asian eyelashes, straight and I often get the raccoon eyes if I don't use waterproof everything!)

When they showed this to my in the store, they applied it a minute or two later, after my original coat was dry. Applying at home, I wait a minute as well. To my understanding, this works to coat over the original mascara to make it waterproof, like a topcoat for nail polish.

Also, I suspect that if you applied while the mascara was still wet, it might affect how the lashes looked - like smudging nail polish.

I wait about a minute after my mascara has been applied then apply this over it. I also swipe it on the underside of my lower lashes and the tops of my upper lashes too to create an invisible coat of armor over all of my lashes not just the top.

you can use it alone. but the results will not be as dramatic. curl your lashes then apply a very thin coat. I would gently press the comb side of an eyebrow brush on the tips of your lashes and blow on them. this stuff is literally like hair gel and when it dries it hardens slightly so your lashes will not move for the day

Not sure. It has no color, nor does it lengthen or thicken. I believe it's just a basic water proofing formula. I don't notice a difference in holding a curl either.

Look at clear mascaras if you just want shine.

Hope this helps!

Question
Easily removed?
Is this product easy to remove with makeup remover? I stay away from waterproof mascaras because of how ridiculously hard they are to remove. I don't like the feeling of being so rough on my lashes and eye area. Is this relatively gentle on the eyes as far as removal goes?

I use sephora waterproof eye makeup remover. squirt some on a cotton round then close my eyes and hold it on for about 15 seconds. it takes a few swipes but it comes off very easy with no trauma. I find it more difficult to get off the mascara underneath.

It does for me. I'm half Asian so I have straight hair everywhere. if you curl your lashes apply mascara let it semi dry then put this on it will freeze your lashes and place. its like hair gel and it hardens slightly. I use the comb end of my brow brush to very gently on the tip of my lashes to hold them up while I blow on them and then dry that way and stay curled up all day with no problem. I think the key is to apply it before your mascara drives all the way. For me it it enhances whatever mascara I use

I tried it once. It's a little to thick. it almost works like hair gel and it freezes your lashes in place. you can use it on bare lashes or over mascara and it will lock in the mascara. if you do use it on your brows I would use a different applicator and apply it very lightly but it should work and your eyebrows will not move

I tried it once, and it wasn't the best experience. After using it as a top coat for my mascara, the clear color has turned slightly grey... Not the color I want my eyebrows to be. Anastasia makes a wonderful brow top coat that lasts all day, and even through a very sweaty workout session.

I've used them to tame my eyebrows - they do hold, but it is a bit crunchy looking. Take a brow brush after they have dried and give them a light touch brush in the direction you set your brows. Seems to help my brow penciling in place.

This is a waterproofing solution. If you just want a clear mascara, I'd go with that. After all, clear mascaras don't "run" down one's face when wet! I don't think it gives my lashes any volume or length, but it does last through sad movies! Do be careful not to "rub" your lashes when taking off your makeup. I did that the first time I used this (over normal mascara) and noticed that a few lashes came out! Soak a cotton pad with waterproof eye make up remover, and just let it sit on your lashes/lids for a few seconds first.
