the foundation brush is firm at the base then tapers a bit toward the end to allow for a nice thin layer of makeup. when I use them i put my foundation on in downward strokes to avoid catching any fuzzy hairs then I work side to side to avoid looking streaky or striped which also allows to ensure even coverage. This brush contours really nice on the face. The concealer brush is much thinner and is really nice for applying the right amount of concealer on blemishes and other marks. You don't need a lot of concealer with this brush as it is made for precision concealing, I give this brush set a great review for the value and theyre not too heavy and have a good balance. The only drawback is that there isn't a power brush, which makes sense as I don't believe she has a powder out as of yet., Maybe in the future though!

The foundation and concealer brushes are still smooth and soft yet more firm like a standard synthetic brush. So you have the softness to apply the product but they are firm enough to give you more control and precision with their application.
