I had the same issue with my hair. I've been using alterna products for 2.5 years now and this shampoo is most often in my bathroom. The oily roots were improved a little bit, the dry ends are improved a lot.

But have in mind that the shampoo itself is not enough. I would recommend the following approach:
- use generally the moisturizing Alterna shampoo and conditioner
- during the weekend apply moisturizing masque, but do not apply it on the roots (despite that it says on the package that you have to).
- every odd month replace the moosturizing shampoo with the detoxifying one

My hair is straight, dark and dyed in highlights and I used to lose a lot of hair too. But a looser version of the above schedule has done miracles for me.

I have very similar hair - thick but very fine, oily roots, dry ends. I HATED this shampoo and will be returning today. Makes my hair feel like straw and super tangled.

I have similar hair.. you need to buy this! It really truly does make a difference in the way your hair looks and feels. Use it only 1-2x per week, however.

You don't have to wash daily. Just use it each time you do wash your hair, whether it be daily or every other day.

I use the shampoo every second day. I believe when it says on the bottle that it is a "daily" shampoo, it means that you "can" use it daily, not that you "have to" use it daily.

You don't have to use it daily, but it is gentle enough to be used daily if you choose.

No, there is no conditioner matching this type of shampoo, which is normal because the conditioners can't do detox. I'm matching it with the Caviar Repair Conditioner (http://www.sephora.com/caviar-repair-rx-instant-recovery-conditioner-P377404?skuId=1483676) and the two are working very well together. I also use the Bamboo Smooth Moisture Masque (http://www.sephora.com/bamboo-smooth-moisture-masque-P286111?skuId=1333590) once a week instead of conditioner.
It took me a while to figure out this combination, but I've beed doing this for several months now and I hope I'm doing it right, because my hair looks nice now. By the way I'm dying my hair and these products help preserve the color too.

No.
I would use the moisturizing conditioner from their other line with it because it does dry out your hair.

Oh definitely! I don't see why it wouldn't be. If you're worried about the scent being feminine, don't be. This shampoo has a slight minty feeling, it's great!

YES! It's great on my damaged colored hair. I'm trying to grow it out and this shampoo absolutely helps me tolerate my split ends by making my hair soft. It's definitely worth the price.

I'm a swimmer too - I swim 3 times per week and my hair looks very good.
I don't know, however, if the pool I'm swimming in has a lot of chlorine and whether the shampoo does anything else besides cleaning it up (not an expert in this area)

Question
Two washes in one shower?
Can you do two washes in one shower with this shampoo? I used the shampoo for the first time last night and did only one wash. My hair did look great afterwards but am wondering if one wash will be enough when my roots are especially oily or after an intense workout. I have fine hair, oily in the roots, dry in the end and is color treated. Thank you.

I think following the instructions to let the shampoo sit for a few minutes before rinsing will eliminate the need for two washes.

I have the same hair you do! I use this product and I love it. I find it I only need one wash. Maybe you should try to leave the shampoo in your hair for longer than five minutes, really massaging it every few minutes in the scalp to unclog the pores and rid of bad oils. It says leave it on for five minutes but you can always do double that time if needed. What I find also really helps is only put conditioner from below the ears and down, let it sit for 2-5 minutes, then quickly run your hands (with conditioner on them) at the top part of the head, avoiding directly the half inch from the root area, and then wash out immediately!
I hope this helps! (:

Question
What happened to the "sodium chloride free" that used to be on the bottle?
This shampoo used to be sodium chloride free, and if you look at the image on the Sephora site, it STILL has it on the front label. However, I just ordered a new bottle and "free of sodium chloride" is now missing from the label. What's going on??????
