Question
Does this also help control acne?

answer 1
My acne cleared up initially while using it, but immediately returned and worse than ever. I went through an entire bottle and purchased a second one thinking it may have just been deep cleaning my skin, but I'm not sure how much I truly believe in that. I honestly have never had such bad skin than when I was using this, it cleared up immediately once I stopped. I would recommend something with salicylic and glycolic acid and even retinol, benzoyl peroxide and tea tree for your acne (there's lots of products on Sephora with these ingredients); this is what I use and it works like a dream- keeps the acne away. Like others have said, it must be the silicone in the product causing the acne because I use the other ingredients in the face wash separately and my skin doesn't break out.

My acne was horrific while using this. I'm talking two or three pimples joining together to form one super pimple. Also did nothing for my blackheads. I returned it after about two weeks of using it and went back to using tea tree oil based products and haven't had a flair up since.

It helped to mellow my acne, but I wouldn't purchase this with the intention of curing, clearing, or drastically reducing acne. It also hasn't done anything to even out redness or residual marks from previous breakouts.

YES. its the only thing that really worked for me. Its got all of the essential vitamins as well as french clay to cleanse but not strip your skin, and tighten your pores. Take it from me, the less you do to your skin the better. I use to bombard my skin with treatments, and serums and all sorts of products but that will only make it worse and strip your skin down. Use this cleanser, a nice moisturizer (sunday riley also has good ones) and exfoliate once a week with an ENZYME exfoliator (like the REN glycolic mask) , NOT the beads - they will spread the acne.

Not at all it will work equally. I DO recommend leaving the cleanser on sort of like a mask (AFTER you've worked it into a foam) for 1-2 minutes while you brush your teeth or something - it feels amazing after. To be quite honest, i had a clarasonic but returned it. Its super over rated. I found it makes me break out more often (many of my friends say the same). no matter how many times you change the head bacteria can and will build up and it will just spread the bacteria - trust me. My sister is a dermatologist and says the same - its mostly business. BUT if you are super duper happy with it, it will work fine with this cleanser.

I do use this with my Clarisonic, however it does not foam any more or less by using it in tandem. I usually HAVE to have a foaming cleanser, but I don't mind that this one does not foam because I love it so much.

I have a clarisonic and use this cleanser with it, but it doesnt foam up much though.. what I do is first wet my face, then I take 2 pumps of the cleanser and gently massage it all over my face, after this I take my clarisonic-wet it in a bit of water and then proceed with cleaning my skin. In this case I'd say you can use this product with a clarisonic, I like it because this cleanser removes all of my mascara for the day. (I have contact lens and my eyes never get irritated with it) ...I hope my reply helps you out

Question
How foamy/drying is the cleanser?
I generally dislike most foaming cleansers because I find them too drying (I have sensitive skin that is prone to dryness and break outs). Is this cleanser very foamy, or just a slight lather? Thanks

It's definitely not foaming. It doesn't really lather much at all. You can achieve a milky texture by adding water, but I've never made it resemble foam in anyway and I don't find it harsh and drying like you'll run into with foam cleansers.

I don't like foaming cleansers either, for the same reason you've stated. This product only lathers up a minuscule amount. It's really more of a gel cleanser than a foaming cleanser. It's one of my fave all time products!

It's definitely not 'foaming' in the traditional way--I would say lather is a much better word. It's a runny clay and when mixed with water turns into a milky lather.

It's gentle enough to use on eye area. But IMO a oil or balm cleanser removes makeup, including eye makeup, better. I use this product as a second cleanse, after removing my makeup with oil or balm. The first cleans off my makeup, the second cleans my skin. (I'm a devotee of Caroline Hirons' skincare blog and this is her suggested routine).

I don't see why not. its the most gentle cleanser i've used (gentle does NOT mean ineffective). I use it to cleanse my eye makeup/mascara and it works perfectly. depends on how much makeup you use though as well. If you use tons of shadow/liner etc, you should definitely have makeup remover at home - cleansers wont do much for you and you can strip your very sensitive/thin eye skin trying to get it off.

You're face should be damp but not 'dripping' wet. This is to avoid getting it on or in your eyes (I learned this from experience). When used with water this cleanser creates a very light foam-not like a heavy foam that stays in place when you stand up from the sink, but light enough to drip down your face pretty quickly if you're face is too wet. That's why I use a very warm wash cloth (wring out the water) to wet my face. Don't use it on dry skin for cleaning purposes. The only time you would use it on dry skin would be if you're using it as a mask along with the "Good Genes" product.

I personally apply this cleanser to my skin when it is dry. Then rub it in with slightly wet fingers to make the product foam up and spread a little easier. It can be applied to either wet or dry skin. If you have oilier skin, I heard applying it to wet skin works better.

Yes, whenever there is a packaging change, that means the formulation has been changed. Even if they put "same great product!!" on the label. This is because the FDA requires companies to update packaging whenever the formulation of a product is changed in any way.
