Questions & Answers for Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment

Question
What is the scent?
It's frustrating when reviewers complain about a product's fragrance without describing it. For Good Genes, is it floral? Musky? Patchouli-like? Marine? Citrus? What??? Thanks : )

The scent was very...unusual, I’d say. At first it seemed lemon scented to me, but that gave way to more of a mix of lemon and...it’s hard to say, but the only other place I’ve smelled something similar is on my kid’s dried clothes when they were babies and wet through their diapers. Sorry to be gross, but I don’t know what that smell is in Good Genes. Whatever it is, to me it is not pleasant, or acceptable in a product to pricey.

To me - it smells exactly like powdered lemonade mix. The smell dissipates, but it was pretty fragrant for at least a half an hour after application.

You can use it as a daily serum (apply a very light amount) or apply it thicker as a mask and then rinse it off. I use it in place of my moisturizer every day and just wash my face and then apply this when I get out of the shower. I use Bobbi Brown tinted moisturizer on top of this once it has been absorbed, and my skin looks flawless without the heavily made-up look. Best stuff ever.

This product smells like lemons. I haven't found that the smell is a turn-off for me, and the smell dissipates pretty quickly once you apply it, so it's not as if you're smelling it all day, even though you are using it on your face. Some people might compare it to the smell of lemon Pledge. I am pretty sensitive to chemically smells due to my asthma, so I have to be very careful not to use products with overpowering scents and I have not had any problems with this.

I always thought it smelled like lemongrass and didn't realize that it was a main ingredient in there until recently. The scent has not bothered my or anyone who has been near me when it is on.

In my opinion this smells neither good nor bad. Can't say it smells appealing, but I can't say that it smells offensive either!

The scent is mostly from the lemongrass and licorice. Check out the ingredients list. People are being way to drastic about the scent. It's an all natural product with strong plants in it of course it will be fragrant.

I didn't notice any kind of horrible smell at all. It did smell like something I had used before but I couldn't figure out what. Maybe the acids? It just smelled like a facial product to me. Unless you are extremely sensitive to smells and really just didn't like this one, I can't imagine why it would bother so many people.

I use it in the PM due to having really sensitive skin. I use it every other night due to other reviewers saying this was too harsh and use a collagen night cream on the nights I do not use Good Genes. That seems to be working well for my skin type.

I only use it in the PM as I have a different beauty routine in terms of lotions/serums in the morning and I have had amazing results! You can also use it in the AM or both AM and PM. I like the PM because I can put a whole pump on my face and massage it and let it do its magic overnight.

you can do both but i would limit to once a day in the PM - it is very exfoliating and when i used it under makeup i found the texture a bit crumbly.

I have oily skin and found this added just enough moisture that I didn't need any additional moisturizer--however, if you have combination
or dry skin you will most likely still need your moisturizer over the top.
Great product--adds a youthful glow and softens fine lines!

I would be careful around the eyes with this.. Maybe lightly apply just a touch with a cotton swab in the eye area to test on a day when you are hanging around the house in case it causes some redness. Or, maybe dilute it with another eye treatment for that area

Question
dry, acne prone skin& incorporating into skincare
I have dry, acne prone skin. It's really sensitive, dryish but breakouts occur easily with irritants or anything too heavy. I have had lactic acid peels in the past that worked fine. So,I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on this for my skin? I also was wondering if this was enough to replace a moisturizer? For reference,I use Fresh Lotus cream over Fresh seaberry oil. If I'm not wearing my foundation with spf,I use the SR spf moisturizer and mix my fresh in too in winter.thanks in advance! They don't have this in store near me.So I have to risk it with this one.

Hi, I have very sensitive combination skin. I am prone to breakouts on my chin and nose but my cheeks are always quite dry. This product was much too strong for me. I had to wash it off after only a few minutes because it burned so bad and my skin was bright red for the rest of the night. If your skin is very sensitive I would not recommend it.

Question
Acne?
I have very oily, acne prone skin. I follow a good diet, exercise, etc. I take very good care of my skin, but I am still plagued with a few problems. I am always wary about trying new things, as they do not always agree with my skin. I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with this causing acne? Many products I cannot use because of being sensitive to breakouts.

Question
sensitive skin SO how should I use my samples I stock-pilled on purpose?!
Since I have sensitive skin (things that sting usualy will sting me) SO,what will be my best bet to start off using this and not harming my skin ( I read some reviews that scared the heck out of me)? I gave my sample of Youth Mud -Tingling to my hairstylist! I was SO exciyed to try this but haven't dared yet. Any good solid advice on how I should use this? And if you think serum, how do I apply (especially the 1st time)?! Thank U Ladies!

I have very sensitive/ rosacea type skin that breaks out if anything irritates it. I started off using this every other night for a week. The first time i used it I was amazed. I have been using nightly since without any irritation and clearer, plumper skin.its not a miracle, but its the closest you will find in a bottle. I had to stop usong any mechanical exfoliants( clarisonic, scrubs, etc) just was making my skin too "angry" .wise choice on that glamglow tingle mask. It sent me into an irritated mess for a week with one use! I.was told lactic acid is good for.sensitive skin because it helps your skin hold moisture and it is a weaker acid. Give it a go.start slow.

Sensitive skin is a tough one...I have iron skin, nothing phases it, and this product *tingled* for about a minute on me! I would try a very small bit of this product on the lower part of your cheek and jawline to test out your reaction. This product is amazing so should your reaction be favorable I would focus its use on your "problem" areas and definitely avoid a good portion of your eye area. Good luck! Hope you love it as much as I do!

For people with sensitive skin (any skin type really) I would begin using this product every other night or every third night. I do not have sensitive skin and it does have a burn/tingle sensation. If it doesn't bother your skin then you can begin to use every other night or every night. I apply this product every other night (RX retin-a on alternating nights) after I wash my face with a gentle cleanser (non-foaming) while skin is slightly damp, and let it sink into my skin for 5-10 minutes before I apply moisturizer, which I highly recommend with use of Good Genes. So far this routine has worked for me with notable results the following morning. Plumper skin, reduction in appearance of fine line, and smooth evened out skin tone. Subtle results, but results that I have not received with other serums/treatments tried. If the burning/tingling sensation is too much rinse off your face. On a side note......beware of the smell. It's awful. But as stated earlier so far I am liking this as a nightly serum. Good luck and hope this helped.
