It does contain parabens. Parabens have been stated to be a cause for cancer, when used excessively. The quantity that is used in cosmetics is usually not enough to cause cancer unless used along with many other products that cause cancer. I hope this helps.

Except parabens have been found in breast cancer tumors.

This foundation contains parabens as a preservative. I don't understand why it would matter, parabens have never been tested positive to having any negative affects on our health.

Question
colour match/store locations
Hi! I've been MUF HD foundation in 115 for the last couple of years but I find it a little bit too pink for me (I bought 117 by accident the other month and it was too yellow). I recently switched to Kat Von D Lock-it foundation in Light 44. The MUF HD was great other than the colour issue bc I like a more natural finish. The Kat Von D colour seems slightly better but is quite matte and a bit heavier than I'd like it to be. I'm pretty fair and I think I have a both pink and yellow undertones(?). What is the closest match for me in the Illumasqua line? (I don't mind buying the white to lighten a colour up, if need be.)

Also, which Sephora Canada locations carry this line?

Thank you!

If you try your Kat Van D Lock It foundation with a damp beauty blender, you'll be much happier with it...

I normally wear MUFE 115. The closest in Skin base is 3.5 but it is still pretty pink and a little darker then MUFE 115 so I need to lighten it with Skin base 2 to get the right shade. Hope that helps!

I am a 118 in MUFE. I use 5.5 , so I might suggest to you 4.5 to try first. I have pinky surface tones and yellow under tones and this nuetralizes very well.

Where are the rest of the shades?
There are more shades between 1 and 3.5...why isn't the entire shade range being offered?

8.5 is missing too. I have been waiting months for it. The website also says it is not in any Sephora store in New York. I originally bought it at the Meatpacking store, and then online.

So I just heard back from Illamasqua and they said the numbering was no mistake. The shades sephora has are exclusives to sephora (but will shortly be added to the Illamasqua website). So they ARE different than what is on the Illamasqua website, and sephora is missing (quite) a few shades. The lady recommended that I go into sephora to find my "perfect match". Too bad Illamasqua's line isn't available in most sephora stores...yet (hopefully).

I think the only shade they aren't offering is shade 2. I don't know where Sephora got the half-steps from, but the Illamasqua website only goes up in whole steps. I have shade 2. Shade 2 is VERY fair with pink undertones. In the bottle it literally is a whitish peachy pink.

Question
Where is shade 2 or 2.5?
There is a shade missing and it is shade 2 or 2.5. Will this shade become available? Why are there not enough pale shades available in all foundations period?

Thanks! I did order Skin Base Foundation in shade #2 from Illamasqua.com. It is pale enough for my skin! No oxidation at all.

Shade 2 is available through the Illamasqua website. They do ship to the U.S. If you are very pale with pink undertones, shade 2 is totally worth getting it from the UK. I have also found Bobbi Brown alabaster and Burburry foundation in shade 2 to be great for pale skin with pink undertones.

You could also purchase the white and mix it in to your current foundation.

You could use this foundation with dry skin, but if you want a more dewy luminous foundation this is not the one for you. Perhaps try NARS sheer glow!

Question
Is it possible to use Shade 1 as an everyday foundation?
I am incredibly pale, and have found Shade 2 to be too dark for my skintone. If I buff it out well, could I use Shade 1 as an everyday foundation, or would it look too theatrical?

Shade 01 is pure white. I purchased shade 01 and mix it with my darker foundations to make them the right shade :)

It would be better if you mixed shade 1 with shade 2, as the purpose of the white shade is to lighten foundations if need be to get your perfect shade. Shade 1 on it's on would, I believe, look too theatrical. Hope this helps!

3 is "olive yellow undertones" and 3.5 is "pink undertone with yellow" the shade numbers aren't necessarily an indicator that it is darker with this brand, sometimes they are similar in how "dark" or "light" they are but it just indicates a different undertone. The Illamasqua website describes the shades much better than the Sephora website does :)

No, 3 and 3.5 are NOT the same! You are right: 3.5 is pink based while 3 is yellow based. The .5 shades are new ones that were recently added to the Illamasqua website. You can contact them through their website, illamasqua (dot) com. HTH.

Best way to apply??
Beauty blender, buffing brush, ect? Thanks!! Also, what the heck is with the .5's? Is sephora carrying shades with a neutral base?

I've found this to be one of the easiest foundations to apply. I put a dot on my finger and then dab and pat it all over my face. Then I take my Tarte foundation brush -- its kind of like a kabuki brush -- and buff it into my skin. It's fast to do and doesn't take a lot of work. I've never gotten a more natural, airbrushed look from a foundation before in my life!

Use a buffing brush. I use real techniques expert face brush. A little goes a LONG way. The yellow/pink are what they consider neutral I believe. The .5 shades are exclusive to sephora (at the moment) according to Illamasqua.

Skin tone
I am very fair skin with more of a neutral to light yellow/blue undertones. The website does not give a skin tone description of 2 or 3 in this foundation, and I would just like to know which one I should get. Thanks!

Shade 2 is described by Illamasqua as "Pink undertone with yellow", and shade 3 is described as "olive yellow undertone". Shade 2 is very fair in person and definitely is more pink than neutral in my opinion.

I've got really pale/fair skin as well. I've found that if I mix the 1-White with another foundation where the undertone is right but it's a bit dark, I get the perfect foundation. I mix the White Illamasqua with MUFE 110 and 107.
