Questions & Answers for Peter Thomas Roth Laser-Free™ Regenerator™ Moisturizing Gel-Cream

Question
Is the jar a screw-off jar, or does the cover lift off?
I know this sounds like a silly question, but I cannot get the lid off of the jar!

LOL, this is an interesting type of container, it screws off but it is 'upside-down' so you open it and lift off the entire outer shell and then there is a plastic cover for the moisturizer. It's cute, and it keeps air from getting in and contaminating the creme or changing the chemistry. You'll like it!!!

Mine screws off. It's a single jar, not like the picture. It was hard to get off, but I finally managed. Try one of those rubber things that keeps it from slipping, or put on rubber gloves and try. The gloves work just as well as the little matts.

It's not hard to feel like you are using too much because of the texture of the product but I think that as long as you rub it into your skin and see the product being absorbed then you are fine. One of my favorite things about this product is the red color and texture, both of which disappear into your skin once applied :)

Very small amount under makeup in the morning, absorbs quickly, half the size of a dime. At night use more, about the size of a quarter or a bit more. Absorbs quickly but skin feels wonderful in the morning!

I apply mine with a spatula I already had. I apply a dot to my forehead, cheeks, nose, chin and neck. I smooth it in and that way I do
not get too much. One small dot per area works as you blend the dots together towards each other.
Hope that makes sense. It works well for me using it that way.

Question
Can this be used in the eye area? Also, some reviewers used this as a primer.
Specifically, around eyes and on eyelids? And, would this really work as a primer? If so, how long before makeup can be applied?

YES YES YES!!! I have found that it it a wonderful night creme to use around my eyes. Traditional night cremes either sit too long on the skin and end up on my pillow, or absorb so fast I feel like I haven't used enough. This takes only a small amount, and I see nice results each morning! No crows feet here! I don't recommend it as a primer, though, as it is too heavy and when I tried it I found my makeup 'sliding' and had to use extra powder and reapply mascara and eyeliner because it was too heavy, even when using a tiny amount.

I personally would not use any product around my eyes unless they are specifically targeted for that area. I have tried that in the past and my eyes are so sensitive they get irritated, red and teary.

I use it under the eyes along with my eye cream, not on the lids, I think it would irritate the eyes.

I have used this cream every day for over a year and am hooked on it! I do not use it as a night cream but am sure you could. Because it is so lightweight it goes on smoothly and absorbs in a few minutes. People think it is greasy and it is at first but once your skin absorbs it your face feels incredibly soft. I love it!

No, the gel cream is super rich and really for dry to very dry skin types. Other PTR products might be a great deal better for you- such as the Mega Rich cream. Despite it's name it's a fairly lightweight cream but lasts all day. Wish the names and descriptions were more helpful on these products, don't you? Neverless, PTR skin care is fantastic- especially the Peel and Reveal resurfacer. Good luck to you!

Question
Use with a Primer?
I'm wondering if anyone else has success using this with a primer. I was told that this would function as a primer as well as a moisturizer, but I'm finding that I'm still getting shiny by mid-day. Could I use this first and then a primer on top to decrease the shine?

If you use this as a primer, you're going to be disappointed. It is an amazing moisturizer, but takes time to absorb. I use it instead at night and my skin is baby-smooth after it has fully absorbed. If you use a good foundation, like Lancome Absolue, you shouldn't need much primer at all unless you have really dry skin. This is a great product, though.

I wouldn't advise it. As I own my own all-natural skincare line, I have an extensive background in chemistry and biology and the best ways to keep those wrinkles at bay, and with the use of Retinol, I would not advise using this heavy of a cream. Your skin needs to ge the full effects of the Retinol without interference while it's working. Use this in the morning an hour or two before makeup, and use Retinol at night so as to get the full effects. This is a wonderful moisturizer, though. Just use it alone and the Retinol seperately.

Question
Age Preference?
I received this product as a sample and decided to try it out. I put it on at night and the next day, 3 coworkers commented on how my face had a beautiful glow to it. After using this product several times, i noticed that it did not cause breakouts or oily skin.
My question was if this could be used daily for someone who is 24 years old. It does wonders to my skin but a Sephora sales associate told me not to use it as it is an 'anti aging' product?

I've been using "anti-aging" products since I was 20, maybe younger! I have oily/combination/sensitive/acne prone/cranky skin and anti-agers have always given me the best results, usually because they have some kind of vitamin A derivative or other acid to them.
