Yes, it does show up on dark hair. I have dark brown hair and I used the blonde shade and I definitely saw that it made a difference.

Yes! My hair is almost jet black and both the red and caramel look great. I do have naturally curly though so at first when I applied too much thinking I needed to in order for it to show on my dark hair I realized I got my hair too wet....better to apply lightly...let dry and layer more on if necessary! Love this!!!

I just got it in the mail and tried it on my dark brown hair. The "Sweet Caramel" gave me very pretty medium brown highlights. Application can be a bit less messy, but it is effective!

i only tried the sweet caramel which i thought would be more brown, but it was quite golden, shimmery, and metallic looking. i think if you have brown hair it will look nice but if you have darker hair like mine, i would try the red if your want a little dimension to your hair color. on the other hand, if you like stark contrasts in your hair and want a dramatic look, this will do the trick. also, you can control the effect by how you apply and how much you apply. for a subtle look, brush through to evenly coat or if you want a streaky effect, less brushing. it is very fun and shampoos out completely--no commitment just investment here.

i have virgin jet black hair and im african american. my hair has no chemicals in it and responds to water based things by curling up. so do i put it on before i flat iron my hair? and oh, how would the caramel look?

I haven't used this product, but since it is a highlight that temporarily deposits color, your hair doesn't need to be processed (i.e. it's okay for virgin hair). I think it would be best to apply it after you flat iron. Again, since it's only temporary, the heat from the flat iron would probably make it fade or even disappear.. HTH

I styled my hair before using the mousse then added it where I wanted it. I think 15 mins would be adaquate. You can always use your blow drier on low and rush the drying time.
