Questions & Answers for SEPHORA COLLECTION Deluxe Airless Travel Kit

Question
Filling bottles
I noticed that there aren't any stick within the bottle to help pump out the product.

How do you use the bottle when it's not completely full?

While the bottle is empty, start pumpting. The base of the bottle will start moving up (kind of like a syringe). Pump until the base gets high enough to hold as much product as you want. Then fill it up...

There is a clear stick that comes with the set ( you can see it in picture). Use the stick to push the pump down to re-fill each time with what you want in it

THE AIRLESS PUMP MOVES UP AS YOU USE YOUR PRODUCT UP TO THE TOP OF THE BOTTLE.
TO REFIL JUST US STICK TO PUSH DOWN AND REFIL WITH SAME PORDUCT OR CLEAN OUT AND PUT IN SOMETHING ELSE YOU MANY WANT TO USE

answer 5
There is no 'stick' thing because it is an airless pump.
You use the stick that comes with the set to push the plunger down to the bottom of your bottle. Fill the bottle with your creams/liquids/gels etc and put the lid back on and pump. The first few pumps will be just air, but you will see the plunger at the bottom move up. As yo use the product the almost all of the product will be dispensed. It is the same system that Sephora uses for their primer and liquid foundations.

I think you're supposed to open the bottle from the bottom side, use the piston push stick to push the clear plastic thingy up and it creates more air pressure....at least I think so. I bought it but I'm not exactly sure. The assistant at the store wasn't quite sure either and said it came with instructions but it doesn't....

They are hard plastic. The packaging does not clarify if BPA free or not. No odor to them, and they look nice - but the pumps do not work properly/consistently.

They are more like an acrylic. Heavy, high quality.

Question
How do you get product out if it's not completely full?
I filled one of the 1.01 oz. bottles half way but product will not come out. I was wondering how they would work without a tube/straw to pull up the liquid. Getting ready to leave for a short trip. Do not want to fill these all the way up & add more weight to my luggage since it is not necessary. HELP!

Just keep pumping. You need to pump out all the air.

answer 2
If the bottle is not entirely full, try keeping the bottle upside down and/or pumping the bottles while upside down so that the contents cover the pump. No need to keep them full and/or pump air endlessly. Good luck! They are great products!

I had this problem too and I thought I did something wrong. I didn't. Tubes and straws have nothing to do with it. Its suction and air. Keep pumping till product is dispensed. It might take a while depending on how you filled your container. Hope this helps. Have fun on your trip.

answer 4
I think it has to be filled up to where the bottom of the pump is (so basically to the top) otherwise it wont have enough vacuum. If you are going to half fill it, I would empty it entirely then push the bottom down only part way (I filled it with water then dispensed it to where I wanted, then dumped the extra water and filled it up to the top with product.)

No - I find the openings on the pumps fairly narrow so it's pretty easy to control.

I ran mine through except for the tops. I was afraid of breaking the seals. So I hand washed them.

I have no idea if they are dishwasher safe, but I definitely would not run that risk. I pushed the bottom all the way down, filled the bottle about halfway with water, plugged the top with my finger, and then shook the bottle until most of the product had come out. I did this three or four times to make sure the inside was clean, then I filled it up all the way with water and pumped the water through the lid to clean out the pump.

That being said, you probably don't need to clean the bottles between fillings unless you want to switch the product you are putting in.

Its an airless pump and has no tube for each bottle. The one stick is for pushing the plunger down when you are done with the product and ready to refill.

I've been on several flights with this one and it's not been a problem. Can't say for sure if it's TSA approved but I haven't been even questioned on several flights.

Technically it is TSA size. I flew to Europe and through 5 different airports. I was pulled aside only in one of them because they thought it was too big. Although it is quart size it looks bigger so keep this in mind.

No, if anything they dispense too little. I have to pump it about 10 times to get shampoo out

answer 2
The amount is very easy to control. I actually wish the bottles dispensed a little more product, as it takes me 10-12 pumps to get out enough conditioner to work through my hair (about a quarter sized amount). Thinner products come out more, but it is still easy to control exactly how much.

I just checked TSA's website (5/15/2012) and it says the bag should be 7.5"x8". I guess they could pull out a ruler to see it's over by a little bit. I don't know. Maybe someone else has experience traveling with the case (shown in image) and the complete set. I hope to hear from others opinions. I was curious, also.
