I had a lot of trouble with mine, even after completely removing the stickers. I ended up taking a pair of pliers and shoving up on the edge of the lid.

It's been awhile since I opened mine but I think that the bottom (or top) is taped shut. Cut the tape and you are ready to roll.

Hello :) I bought mine a few days ago and there were 2 little clear stickers at the bottom of the case (on each side). I removed one of them and was easily able to open up the case (the cap is actually at the bottom of the plastic case).

Hope this helps :)

It has two clear stickers that attach the bottom to the case. Just peel those off and the bottom should pop right off.

It's pretty much just pulling the bottom off. It's a little tough, but it just takes a little oomph.

The tape on the bottom is tough to see. Mine was taped on two sides, to the left and right as you look at it face-on. Once the tape is breached you can yank on the extended tabs on the bottom. The bottom piece lifts off.

The bottom end pulls off. It might have tape on it that you need to remove.

Nickel Allergy
I am highly allergic to nickel and am trying to find out of this contains nickel?
I use to have the coveted Shu Uemura eyelash curler and after 2 years of trips to the dermatologist with contact dermatitis and $2500 of allergy testing I discovered a nickel allergy. I called Shu Uemura customer service and discovered it was nickel coated! I need a nickel free good curler...the plastic ones suck. Please any info on these colored ones would be greatly appreciated!

Hello!!! I am also allergic to nickel & many other metals also. To the point that I can't even wear sterling silver. :( I am able to use the Sephora Brand eye lash curler in Emerald color. I bought it for my sister, but then she didn't need it. So I decided to try it myself. (Didn't even think about it being metal... that was dumb) but I don't have any type of reaction to it. I do not know if it has any nickel in it, but it's worth a shot to look into. Hope that helps!!!!!

I agree with the coating comment, I have the same allergy and haven't noticed a reaction on my eyelid or hands from using this curler.

Hopefully someone has used a testing kit on this and knows for sure!

No way to know for sure the quality and exact materials in the curler, but the color is actually some sort of coating on the metal which may protect you if it does contain nickel. I would recommend rubbing it on the skin of your wrist, and either don't buy it or return it if you react to it.

where can I order replacement silicone pads for the curlers?

Hi there,

The pads are not sold on their own. If you need to replace the pads (after the extras are used) it's time to get a new curler!
answered 2 years, 8 months ago
answer 2
You can't. You're supposed to throw away the eyelash curler and buy a new one after you've used up all the pads. Then they get another $17 from you for a new curler. Stick with drugstore brand eyelash curlers. They are more effective and you can buy replacement pads. They do not tell you to discard your eyelash curler after you've used up the pads that came with it.

I asked the salesperson who helped me out the same question. He said that it only comes with one replacement pad because the eyelash curler should be replaced every 6 months. :-/

Shu Umera eye lash curler

I have the shu uemura eye lash curler and I was wondering if it was possible to get a replacement rubber piece. Mine fell out and is lost?

I used to have a Shu' lash curler and when I went looking for replacement rubber pieces was told a no-go. My understanding is that Shu' supplies one extra and then the company's stance is that the lash curler does not maintain its best alignment or something so we are to buy an entire replacement. Of course I do not speak for Shu', this is my recollection only of what was told to me.

Have you tried the Shu Uemera website? I may have one floating around my make-up drawer. Let me know if you want me to look and I can mail it to you if you are in the US.

Moisturizer-Hope In a Jar
In the past, I have purchased Hope In a Jar with a SPF factor that was actually in a jar (not a tube). Is that product still available-not finding on line and I do not live close to a store.

I loved the fun colors. The problem is as it wears, it's not so great, particularly due to the very bright colors that was the initial draw.
