Mine has no noticeable smell. As a matter of fact, that was one of its positive virtues. I hate perfumed skin care products.

That's the retinol. I have found that most retinol creams will develop a slightly funky smell shortly after being opened (apparently they may also change color over time). According to my research, this is normal and does not affect the effectiveness of the product.

I use this before applying foundation, then let it absorb for about 5 minutes before applying foundation.

Use this after cleansing, toning, and serum (if you do those things). BEFORE moisturizing, but absolutely use a sunscreen because retinol makes the skin extra prone to burning (and sun damage :( ). If you have time, wait 3-5 minutes between each step to allow products to soak in and prevent pilling.

Question
Why is there retinol in this daytime product?
Since I have always understood that retinol should only be used at night, does anyone know why products are now putting retinol in day creams? Is this just another way to sell another product? Is this "safe" to use this cream regularly during the daytime, in the sun, even with sunscreen?

I don't think it would be smart! Check out this article: http://blogs.webmd.com/healthy-skin/2011/08/retinol-when-to-use-it-and-when-to-avoid-it.html. I just used this cream for the first time and am really impressed, but I don't plan on using it during the day - just before bed. Even though that goes against the product description, I feel like if this cream is really worth the money, it'll do its job no matter what time of day it's applied.

I believe that in the past, different retinoid compounds were used; those compounds caused the sun-sensitivity, and newer lines of products containing retinol have a little less of those side-effects. Vogue has a good article about "The Return to Retinol" that mentions this product.

Since you use this at night time, I think it will be ideal for using at day time. My routine is using this at day time and Night Repair at night. Hope this could be some help to you

I am already using another glycolic product also. I use this product every morning, but I use the other product a few times a week. I don't have any irritation or problems.

Question
Is it ok for sensitive skin?
I am in my early 30's and was looking for early prevention. Since my skin is really sensitive and I have rosacea from time to time (lightly though), I was wondering whether this product is a good fit for me.

Question
SPF
Okay so I like this, but want to use another moisturizer with SPF for day wear. Should I put the SPF Moisturizer on before or after this? Feels like if I put it on after, I will lose the "skin illuminators, optical diffusers and micronized ruby crystals." So it may not be worth the money if I have to put it on after, any thoughts?

Ive always followed the advice given by an aesthetician, go from the lightest (gel, for me), to the heaviest (SPF, for me). And yep, I think it may, with a heavier cream (read zinc based), defeat the ruby glow, at least temporarily. It seems that some blocks "ease up" after awhile, though they're not as highly rated for sun protection. That's why all the high end creams are 15, they're prettier. In the long run 30-45, especially with all the acids we wear now, is a necessity though. I wish technology would catch up and make this easier!
