I really don't understand why people think that you should choose a shade lighter than your skin. It doesn't magically hide anything-- in most cases, it makes the problems more obvious. You don't want to highlight the circles under your eyes or the blemishes on your chin, so why make them lighter? It only pulls attention to those areas. What you should always do is purchase a concealer that is roughly the same shade as your skin and apply it BEFORE foundation. After your foundation, apply setting powder to your blemishes and eyes. It will make the coverage last all day!

Good luck =)

I have very light/fair skin and I always buy a shade lighter. Especially for evening skin-tone under/around my eyes. Also, buying a lighter shade helps to hide any redness around blemishes.

I've always heard that you should go a shade lighter with concealer, and it does seem to work for me.

Definitely go lighter if you're unsure.

After applying the concealer, lightly pat some of your regular face powder over it which will help set it and blend it with the rest of your makeup.

Yes, it has to be sharpened, which, to me, is both annoying and a waste of product, and if you have used your sharpener for an eye pencil/shadow pencil, unless you clean it scrupulously (which is difficult - get out the alcohol and a q-tip!), you will end up transferring unwanted colour to this pencil. It's amazing that they wouldn't use a twist up tube for this concealer. Maybe if enough of us contact them, they might change it in 10 or 15 years (I mean, they FINALLY changed the UDPP Genie tube!)

I also wear UD Naked in 4 and MUFE 120 & 125. I use FBI and NSA. FBI is a little lighter, and NSA is slightly darker. I like to use two different colors. When I'm wearing MUFE HD in 120, FBI and NSA both work. If you like your concealers lighter, go with FBI.

Question
how do you sharpen it without being messy?
Ive seen lots of reviews that people have commented how messy it is to sharpen I was wondering how you would sharpen it with out it being messy because I think it would be a good concealer but I dont want to have to deal with anything like that!

It's nearly impossible to sharpen this without a messy, uneven, jagged product. The plastic just doesn't shave away as easily as a wooden pencil. So much of the product is lost when trying to shave away the plastic that it's almost not worth it to purchase the product at all. My advice: don't buy the concealer unless UD changes the way they deliver it.

Use Urban Decay's sharpener - it's made for the 24/7 collection, so you can sharpen it with minimal waste of product.

I never found it to be a problem to sharpen. I've used it with Urban Decay's and Sephora's sharpeners, and it sharpens really smooth, without leaving a huge mess. Good luck!

Urban Decay sells a pencil sharpener called "Grind House" for $10 specifically for that line of pencils, but really any sharpener by a makeup brand would work if it has a spot for thicker pencils.

Yes the apparantly plastic casing does shave away in a standard wide sharpener, however the concealer itself gets crumbly.

Yes it can be sharpened, I was skeptical about purchasing it at first but one of the employees showed me how to sharpen it (with a regular jumbo sharpener) and then i tried it for myself and it was really easy!

I was confused at first too because it opens at the bottom; however, you can, in fact, sharpen it. You need a large sharpener.

My trick to avoid losing as much concealer when I sharpen it is to use a very small concealer brush to pick up the product from inside the rim.

The precision tip would allow for suitable highlighting, but the formula might be too thin for this purpose. I would try Make Up Forever concealer as it is a bit more matte and stands out more.

Question
I'm looking for a mate highlighter, will this work?
I want to get a good highlighter to HAC. All other highlighters just seem so sheer and shiny...I want a matte highlighter. I'm thinking of getting this in the lightest shade since I am pretty fair myself.

If you're looking for a concealer pen that is more matte, than this is the product! My skin can get oily, and this helps tone it down, and doesn't add to my shine. Good luck! I hope it works for you as much as it does for me!

In my opinion it's best as a concealer. I think touche eclat would be the best as a highlighter, it's pricey but it's good. It even doubles as a concealer if you don't have very prominent dark circles.
