Are these eye shadows gluten free? I can't find a complete ingredient listing for active and inactive ingredients.

I would write them an email, but considering they don’t advertise it like gluten free I can almost bet they are not. For something be gluten free it has to be made with that in mind. If other product is made in the same machine that does contain gluten it would contaminated the next product batch. So ask them, this is a good palette but not that good to compromise your health.

You can check out the Urban Decay website and click on the Naked 2 palette. There is an ingredients button which displays everything in each shade and the lip gloss too. I didn't see any gluten products used. I hope this helps.

Have you checked the urban decay website? I recommend emailing urban decay customer service, or sephora customer service. I assume you want to know because of an allergy or something to do with your health. I do not remember seeing it on the list, but I would check with a professional that deals with this product and questions just like this.

I don't know if they contain gluten but you can get a complete list of ingredients for the eyehshadows on the Urban Decay website. They always list the complete ingredients for each separate eyeshadow.

I prefer the Naked 2 because of the ability to wear it everyday. The naked 1 too me is for a little more glitz and glam. They both have stunning colors but what really helped me make my decision was seeing them in person. I know not everyone can do that but that helped me 100% choose which one.

Depends on what kind of colors you prefer. If you like warmer, more golden eyeshadows (and darker ones), go with Naked. If you prefer less golden, lighter, champagne-like shadows, go with Naked 2. Some of the shades in Naked are really dark. Even with a tan, I found the darkest ones to be unwearable and I am nowhere near pale in summer. I can wear ALL the shades in Naked 2, even the black (buffed out in the crease and corner). I haven't used my Naked palette at all sadly. Love the Naked 2 and getting more use out of it. The brush is great too.
So if you prefer darker, warmer, golden, and brown colors, go with Naked. If you prefer lighter (yet still pigmented), champagnes, taupes, greys, silvers, go with Naked2.

I was in the same dilemma until I decided to get both since I have all of the UD Book of Shadows anyway. My skin is an olive tone and so far I've only gotten my Naked 1 palette. BUT I love that I can get a brown smoky eye and it looks "barely there" but still there. Yet, I think if it came down to only getting one, I would have chosen the Naked 2 - it goes well with cooler tones, but I like more shimmery, champagne colors, which is what the Naked 2 mostly has.

Very good question. It depends. What is your skin tone? Do you like everything from naked to smokey, or do you just prefer a very natural look? Do you look better in cool or warm colors? Look better in taupes or tan/bronze?
-The original naked would probably be better for someone with a warm or yellower skin tone. Someone with a neutral undertone could do either. I think if you have tan to dark skin you will prefer the original as it has more variety in tone. Also would prefer this one if you want one palette that can do it all. If you want a palette where you can go from day to night. If you want a palette that is naked, to neutral, to smokey then the original is for you.

Hi! I am in the same boat as you. I was just about to buy the original palette, when I got the email about this. However, I've decided to buy the first one. I'll tell you why. The first one will last me awhile, and this palette will eventually be easier to obtain (like in other stores). They are both of the same quality in my opinion. Also, the additional item. I don't need another lip gloss, I'm not even a fan of Urban Decay lip gloss. I think the primer will be of more use to me.

I think your best bet would be to go to a sephora store and test them out! See which one looks better on you.... I know they look almost the same when you first see them but one is warmer and one is cooler tones. I happen to have both b/c i usually stick with neutrals for my daily make up so I dont mind having a ton of neutrals! The only other thing I can say is that the Naked 2 WILL sell out very fast so if you don't jump on it you'll have to wait to purchase, where the first Naked is going to be easier to get your hands on. Hope this helps... whichever you get you'll love it!

It would depend on your coloring. The first Naked palette is much more warmer toned ... the shadows are warmer brown and bronze shades whereas the Naked 2 palette contains shadows that are more neutral in tone with taupes and beiges. I love them both, I find them complementary and have mixed & matched shades from both palettes. Great palettes, you cant go wrong with these.

I don't you could go wrong with either. They are different, but both are great. The new one has a matte highlighter and matte black, which are always great to have. The old one came with primer instead of lip gloss if you are interested in trying primer too.

I don't have the 2nd one yet, but I think you should start with the 1st/original one (since you're not sure). Naked (1) is a very versatile product, once you love that one (which im sure you will), you can get the 2nd one, when it's more easily available. Happy Shopping!

The brush isn't that good: it's really stiff and it soaks too much eyeshadow. The hairs aren't that soft so it feels like you're scraping your eyelid a little even when you're not pressing that hard.

The brush is very good. If you want to "pack" on color you may want a more dense shadow brush but it isn't necessary.

I don't think you need any extra brushes. The first side of the brush is perfect for packing on colour and the other side is an excellent blending brush! So unless you would like to apply the darker shades as a liner, you could get a pencil brush, but I really do think you can get away with using your clean finger to pack on the colour (or the brush,of course) and then use the blending brush end in the crease.

The bushy side of the brush is great for blending. The tapered side is nice for pressing on the color. I do find that I need one or two other brushes though (depending on how many colors you apply).

You definitely need another brush. This one has a small flat shader, and a fluffy crease brush that is just OK. Not a fan of the included brush.

The brush with this pallette is better than the one with the first NAKED in that it has two sides. I dont need any other brush with it. Onle is great for lines and the other for all over color (it is fluffier).

I hate the brush & wish they would have left it out or included an eye liner instead. I think the bristles aren't fine enough to hold the pigment. I used the sephora natural bristle brushes with the silver handles. The lip gloss is awesome though.

What pallete is better naked 1 or naked 2 for dark eyes?
I have medium/light skin and very dark brown eyes, my hair is also very dark. I have the midnight cowboy shadows, and love the natural look of those, but they are a little to glittery sometimes! I can only get one, and want to look really natural, but pretty. I was kind of leaning toward naked 1, but i'm not sure! I have never seen any of them in person either.

Naked 1 for a dark and smoldering look (night time look?) and Naked 2 is also a good earth tone palette to have. Both are great for dark eyes. Naked1 might be better for the night scene.

Naked one goes into darker bluer tints, the Naked 2 ends with blacks. Naked 2 in more natural but they are very similar. I have a feeling you would enjoy the Naked 2 more. Happy shopping!

I think Naked 2 is a cooler palette so if you tend to like cooler colors, go with that one. If you like warmer, go with Naked 1. Also, the gals at Sephora rock!! Go it and play with both palettes, they will help you decide for sure. Good Luck!

From what you've described it sounds like naked 1 would be a better fit for you. Naked 1 is more warm tones and would probably compliment your skin tone and coloring better. Naked 2 is definitely more cool toned shadows, a lot of taupe and greige colors.

The dark skin/hair I can't contribute to, but dark eyes, definitely. They have a colore - verve that is kind of copper based grary that is just a mega brightner and can go cool or warm based on the complementary color you choose. (I use it as a lid color, with a darker in the crease).
Consider your wardrobe. If you wear more blacks, grays, and neutrals this is it for you. If you are a a true fall, pick up N1.

Colors Compared to Naked
I'm pretty light skin tone and found the colors in the original Naked palette to be pretty dark. I love the Naked colors for creating depth in the crease or for high drama looks, but am looking for a palette with lighter colors for all over the lid and with colors that are more appropriate for every day. Are the colors in this Naked 2 palette lighter or softer in color than those in the original Naked palette?

Naked 2 is more wearable for lighter skin. I have light to medium skin, and even in the summer with a tan, the end colors in Naked were too dark for me. Couldn't wear them. I have found ALL the shades in Naked 2 to be wearable, even the black! (I use it in my crease and corner, buffed out.) I haven't used my Naked palette much and would have skipped it for Naked 2 had I known. Love Naked 2 and find it to be much more wearable than Naked.

The colors are much lighter than the original Naked Palette. I too was worried about there not being enough lighter shades because I am also very fair skinned. Online, the pictures of the palette are deceiving. They are much lighter in person (Thank God!) I was so happy when I opened it and saw that most of the colors would be wearable. There are about 2 shades that I probably wont wear because they are too dark for me, but its much better compared to the 4 or 5 in the original Naked palette I wouldn't touch. All in all I think you will be much happier with the lighter colors in the Naked2 Palette. Good luck!

I find Naked2 to be generally "lighter" shades than those included in Naked, however there are darker shades in #2 as well. You can apply these lightly and blend well or apply lighter shades under the darker ones to minimize the effect of darker shadows. I can wear a pure black if I apply it lightly enough and I'm fair skinned.

The darker shades are definitely snakebite, pistol, busted, YDK,and blackout. But not too dark for daytime wear. The medium colored shades are half baked, chopper, tease, and suspect. The lightest colors are foxy, bootycall and verve. Overall, all the shades are not as smoky or dark as naked. I have both palettes and prefer naked2 for this reason. Hope this helps.

Yes, in my opinion the Naked 2 has softer, less dramatic shadows than the first. However this definitely doesn't mean that N2 can't make dramatic looks, but rather that a good amount of the new colors are softer and cooler toned.

There is a nice mix of shades in Naked 2. I am very fair skinned, usually a "Porcelain" in any foundation, and I've found the colors to be quite flattering. I do, however, have dark eyes and dark hair. I think though that with a good blending brush and a light hand any color in either palette can work for you. There are light creamy shades and a few shimmer of course. Give it a try!

I have fair skin also, and find that I use more of the colors in this palette than in the original Naked palette. My favorite so far is Bootycall, a pale shell pink a little lighter and less shimmery than Sin. The greys are lighter in this palette and more taupe-y, with almost a plummy undertone. YDK and Chopper are also very pretty on light skin. The matte black makes a great eyeliner, and there are only two dark browns that I would reserve for crease-only. Hope this helps!

Naked has more golden hues. The darkest colors in it are incredibly dark. I have light to medium skin and even in summer with a tan, those end two colors were too dark for me to wear. Naked 2 has more taupe shades. I can wear every color in it, even the black one (in my crease and corner, buffed out). To be honest, I haven't even worn my Naked palette once. Naked 2 I will be getting a lot more use out of. So if more warmer, golden hues suit you, go with Naked. If not, Naked 2. Truly love it and the brush that comes with it is great too.

In my experience, Olive skinned folks look gorgeous with warm colors such as in Naked 1. My niece has the same coloring as you and her eyes just pop with most of the colors on. try some grey and silver colors out and if you like them then get Naked 2 later on. Naked 1 is well worth the investment.

Go with Naked2, here's why. There are some super cool copper/bronze shades called half baked, chopper, and YDK that would look killer on you! Snakebite and Busted way cool also for your skin tone and eye color. Happy shopping!

Are you fair? Or olive? The two do not really go together. For an olive skin tone, you would look good in either. A fair skin tone, naked 2. Do you want a more day to night palette? Naked. A palette with more light and medium shades, naked 2. Both are mostly warm colors. I disagree about naked 2 being cooler. Technically most of the colors are still warm.

I would get the second one. I feel that the colors in this palette would look good on everyone. I also feel the packaging is a better quality as the Naked2 has a hard plastic case that snaps shut and the first Naked palette is cardboard with a magnetic flap top.

Sounds like we look exactly alike, same skin, eyes, and I have dark hair as well and I would say go with the the original naked, if you can only have one and want one that blends great with olive skin. Naked 2 is also a great investement when you have the money.

There are tons of youtube tutorials out right now on both palettes; i would suggest checking a few of them out and comparing your skintone to those doing the tutorial. At least this way you can get a better idea :)

The original Naked! I have fair skin and the colors were a bit harsh on me. I always do my sisters makeup and she has olive skin and very dark hair and she loves the look it gives!!! I just got the Naked 2 and for myself it is my new favorite!

I have fair skin and I find I like the Naked 2 palette better. It definitely depends on what types of looks you are looking for. Either one would look great. Naked 1 will give you more dark and dramatic browns but Naked 2 can give you more natural and softer looks.

I would suggest the first palette. It's richer, and warmer, and I think would suit your colouring more. That's only my own opinion, mind you. But I really believe the first is the best, and would be nicer on you. I think you'll be happy if you purchase it!

I am also a fair redhead with blue eyes and freckles okay here are questions to ask before buying the pallette do you have yellow toned or pink toned skin if u have yellow toned skin naked 1 if you have pink toned go with naked 2.

If you like to wear darker colors in the evening and like the coppers and golds on your lids, which I think look good on red hair cause of the contrasting/complimenting tones, I think this is a good choice. The other one, which I don't have but have seen on line looks to be a little lighter, brighter shades, so if you prefer those, I would go with the first! Hope this helps!

I would definitely go with the the naked2 the colors are much cooler for fair skinned ladies. It has a wonderful copper color that would look amazing on blue eyes.

I think either the Naked, Naked2 or UD Book of Colours will all suit you. It's a MYTH that certain colours suit certain people. I say everything suits everyone if done right.

In my opinion, naked two. There are more flesh-y tone and sexy shimmery colors. My cousin is a fair skinned red head and she comes up with great looks with both palettes.

I know people say one is cooler and the other is warmer. I mostly disagree. I think the arrangement of the colors makes people think that is true. I compared them right next to each other, they are very similar. I think naked has a nice range of fair to deep shades. Naked 2 does have more medium shades than naked. If you are fair/light you may prefer the medium shades as they will seem more dark on you. I have both. I use both regularly, as in I use both daily. I go back and forth between the two. How many neutral palettes do you own? Do you own a lot of eye shadow? If you own a lot of eye shadow, definitely naked because it is classic at this point. If not I think with your skin tone, start at naked 2 due to all the medium tones. Might be easier for your skin tone to work with if you are not great at applying eye makeup yet too, because of the tones. Both are pretty equal otherwise. Very similar colors. I think naked 2 is just a hair, seriously 1 color, more neutral. Naked being a little bit warmer. Red heads look great in warm colors and browns look great on blue eyes. Both palettes contain mostly warm brown based shades. I hope I did not confuse you more:0 My point, it does not matter really. I suggest playing before buying, if possible. If not, you will likely be happy with either. Pigmentation is good especially for how nicely they blend.

Depends on look you are going for. Naked is more of a Fall color look overall, if I have to find a single descriptive word for it. The darkest shades are a black with a shimmer, gunmetal and hustle which is a irridescent sable brown. Then there are variations of peachy and brown-beige shades. Naked 2 is lighter overall, more of a spring look. There is a matte black (with a smoky undertone) and a brown that has a taupe/copper influence. The other colors are more irridescent than sparkly and there are more lighter shades. I personally feel that the newer palette is more sophisticated. But if you like darker colors go with the original. Naked 2 may have better choices for someone with blond hair/blue eyes and fair skin.

And because of the neutral tones ( even the green and blue shades), they will bring out the beauty of your distinct features like your red hair....good luck and stay beautiful! I think the Naked 2 palette would be a better choice. I have both and think the 2nd gives more choices in the looks you can produce. The palette is better suited for natural day looks. If used wet or layered over smudged pencil it will produce great night looks as well.

It is actually not as pictured. It does not remove from the top. It opens up like a true shadow palette and snaps back shut when closed.

The case is an all-in-one deal, you can kinda tilt the lid back a little but it's not as flexible as the original naked palette.

As far as I can tell, it is not removable. I tried to pull it out with a bit of force but not hard enough to break it if it was not removable. Based on the construction of the case (the outer part that bends when the lid opens), it does not look like it could be removed because it is connected all the way around.

I have light skin and blue eyes. I use Bootycall right under my brow and suspect on my lid for a quick natural look that I wear to work daily. I will add Snakebite to the outer corners and Halfbaked or YDK to the inner corners of my eyes for a more "made up" look. If I'm going out I might use Busted instead of Snakebite.

I have very light skin as well and at first it caused issue with me because the colors apply so lightly. DEFINETELY wear a primer and then apply in layers until you get the color that you want. I have to put on three layers for darker applications BUT one or two layers make it perfect for a light, easy-going day look. For an easy one, use one of the light, shimmery colors on the lid and one of the many complimentary darker shades on the outer v to add a little drama. I also like adding a little Half Baked to the inner tear duct to make my eyes pop (because I have small eyes). This is my go to look for work and only takes a minute to apply. Add some dramatic mascara and you'll get compliments all day!

I am also vampire-pale :) For me I can only use the black for lining my eyes because it just too strong for any day besides Halloween. Otherwise all of the colors work for me. The colors right next to each other in the palette work really well when using one for the lid and one for the crease/liner. Do you have the first Naked palette? The 2nd palette goes really well with all of those colors.

I am very pale also (blue instead of hazel eyes though). One of my fav combos is Bootycall on the lid, with Snakebite for the contour. Depending on how much product you use the effect can be subtle to dramatic. There are so many other combos, but that is my go-to combo.

I also have fair skin and hazel eyes, this palette works great. If you use either Foxy or Booty Call for a base and then highlight with Chopper and line with Busted... It looks beautiful and isn't too over-the-top. Hope this helps!

I have very pale skin too and I like to pair booty call with chopper, I also like to lay down a thin layer on fawn all over then snake bite in the contour with a little YDK on the inner crease and outer contour to brighten it up a bit

I am in the same boat with you. Vampy pale skin + hazel eyes = perfect for this palette! I love using Verve as my lid color and layering Suspect and Pistol as my crease. Use the Good Karma side of the brush and use the tip to get Pistol and smudge it lightly on the lower lash line. Use the crease side to lightly buff some Foxy on the brow bone. Trust me, this looks great with hazel eyes.

Perhaps brushing the outer corners inward (stopping at the middle) you should brush with some of the slightly darker tones (tease, pistol, ydk) and then going from nasal corner in and blending some foxy or bootycall would be a nice look. I like to line the upper lid with some gray or black, even a brown for you (since you are fairer skinned than I am) with liquid liner. Might I suggest YSL liquid liners. That would ne a nicer look for you. This palette is definitely more fitting since its more earth tone based.

I'm pretty fair myself, and I adore this palette. Honestly, all of the colors are designed to go together, but for your skin tone (and mine), I tend to use YDK in the crease and Chopper (sometimes wet if you are feeling bold) together. I also love the Half Baked, Booty Call combo. The others are gorgeous too and they really do coordinate well together. Some of the darker shadows may need to be held off for nights out though. Just have fun with it! Try a few combos on when you have some time to play, you won't be disappointed. :)

Check out y0utube. A lot of y0utube beauty gurus are using this palette to create looks/tutorials. It does not come with any cards or a look book type thing. That said, you really cannot go wrong with mixing and matching. Urban Dec@ys website has a video with a look. You have to find the actual palette on the page. There is a video above the reviews, under where you add it to your cart. Just scroll through the page. If you cannot watch videos online, they also have a section on the site where you can 'steal' the looks all the different UD palettes create. I suggest checking it out if you own just one or two of the palettes. Often times you can craete the looks with other colors you already may have, that or something very similar. Have fun with it. It is just makeup.
My favorite looks thus far are taking pistol and verve. I put verve on my lid. Then I put pistol in my crease and outer v. I wet blackout and use it as a liner on my upper lid. I line my lower lid dry. I use pistol on my outer lower lid. Then verve on the inner lower lid, blending in the middle.
For those who do not love baked, I like it on the the inner corner of my eyes, the tear duct. It highlight that area beautifully. Warms up a cooler look, creates interest. I also like bootycall on the inner corner, and verve. Bootycall makes a great highlight, for eyes and a fair-medium skin tone (cheeks bones, bridge of nose. I warn you, that it might be more of a going out/night look for a lot of women. Another natural look. Tease in the crease and v. The light yellow matte color on entire lid to brow. The black to line top lid (and bottom if you have a deeper skin tone). If not use tease on lower lid. Have fun with it. Its just makeup. I have the first Naked palette. (The one with the double ended eyeliner.) No, it didn't come with a look booklet. If you are in need of some suggestions on different looks, I recommend searching YouTube. I have seen several great, easy to follow makeup tutorials using the Naked palette.
